Good to have a catchup with the Seals.Numbers have dwindled now most are juveniles on the beaches till birthing time again in Jan/Feb.I'll be there to watch it all again this winter.

Starting to play catchup on a 3 year backlog of photograph editing. For much of that period the camera has been rested, but there are still a lot of images to be uploaded from this time. I'll be busy!

Belhaven Bridge does serve a purpose some of the time, as it’s used to cross the Biel Water, a fairly large stream that runs through the village of Biel near to Dunbar before eventually finding its way into to Belhaven Bay.

Just before it reaches the North Sea the stream reaches this bridge. When the tide is out you can use the bridge to access the beach on the other side. However, once the tide is in it becomes impassable, making the bridge look pointless (but 'different' to photograph).

Bass rock is visible in the background.

Kind of glad this shot ends my catch up mode on this years P52. While I did a shot every week I was only able to post with delay.

Unfortunately the shutter of this beauty clocked up and I had to sell it. Even Hasselblad's manufacturer warranty was expired for the model year 1958 ;-) To my big surprise it sold for almost $500 - despite being announce as broken. Guess EBAY was my friend this week.

But this should not end my little 'film experiments' - glad to still have another 500C with some ten years less of age :-)

Strobist: classic beauty lighting with a soft box left and right through Elinchrom.

Just back from Corbett after a wonderful tiger weekend. The heat was bad, but really helped getting the cats out. This is a quick sampler till I get some time to catchup with Flickr friends.

This was the first shoot of 2026, what better way to see the new year in with a catch up. It was rather cold though and I’d forgot my gloves so I did have numb fingers at certain parts of the shoot. A 90 percent full moon lit the area beautiful but we also added a bit of light Hoober Stand, I do love how these pics have turned out.

A super busy day today playing catchup after being out since Sunday so just a quick shot of one of my old cameras, they are such obliging models for times like these.

Carving experiments!

Rotorua, New Zealand

We are heading up to Rotorua next weekend (anyone up there keen to catchup?) so I went back through the archives of shots I had taken on previous visits, and found this one from 2009 that I took on an early morning walkabout along the lake edge.

I have always loved the light and framing of this shot, even if in those days I didn't really know why.

This is as far as I have gotten to date. I started the painting about ten days ago and can only do a little bit at a time! My head gets in a fluster if I try to do too much at once. LOTS of work and LLOOOTTTTSSSS to go. I have not done anything THIS serious for probably 40 years!I am enjoying it immensely but I have a LOT of relearning and catchup to do. I am very interested in macro, as you know and I want to do more photos - macros- so I can use them as reference pics to paint fromso I can polish up my work and be able to do something I am PLEASED with. I am happy about this- not because it is a masterpiece--- far from it, but because it has reminded me that I CAN do it! Yay!!! - BTW, the ref photo for this is further along in my Flickr if you are interested.

Be around to see you later today and tomorrow.

Colonial Williamsburg is the historic district of the independent city of Williamsburg, Virginia. It consists of many of the buildings that, from 1699 to 1780, formed colonial Virginia's capital. The capital straddled the boundary of two of the original shires of Virginia, James City Shire (now James City County), and Charles River Shire (now York County). For most of the 18th century, Williamsburg was the center of government, education and culture in the Colony of Virginia.

Colonial Williamsburg is meant to be an interpretation of a Colonial American city, with exhibits including dozens of authentic or accurately-recreated colonial houses and relating to American Revolutionary War history. Prominent buildings in Colonial Williamsburg include the Raleigh Tavern, the Capitol, The Governor's Palace, and Bruton Parish Church. However, rather than simply an effort to preserve antiquity, the combination of extensive restoration and thoughtful recreation of the entire colonial town facilitates envisioning the atmosphere and understanding the ideals of 18th century American revolutionary leaders. It was here that Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, James Monroe, James Madison, George Wythe, Peyton Randolph, and dozens more helped mold democracy in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States.

The Historic Area is located just east of the College of William and Mary, founded at Middle Plantation in 1693, just prior to the establishment of the town as capital of Virginia and its renaming. The university's historic Wren Building stands at the west end of Duke of Gloucester Street.

Colonial Williamsburg is a major source of tourism to Williamsburg, as well as a touchstone for many world leaders and heads of state, including U.S. Presidents. The United States hosted the first World Economic Conference at Colonial Williamsburg in 1983. It is the centerpiece of the surrounding Historic Triangle of Virginia area, which has become a popular tourist destination for visitors domestic and foreign. The other two points of the Historic Triangle are Jamestown and Yorktown.

Early in the 20th century, the restoration and recreation of Colonial Williamsburg, one of the largest historic restorations ever undertaken, was championed by the Reverend Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin and the patriarch of the Rockefeller family, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., along with the active participation of his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, who wanted to celebrate the patriots and the early history of the United States.

Many of the missing Colonial structures were reconstructed on their original sites during the 1930s. Other structures were restored to the best estimates of how they would have looked during the eighteenth century, with all traces of later buildings and improvements removed. Dependency structures and animals help complete the ambiance. Most buildings are open for tourists to look through, with the exception of several buildings that serve as residences for Colonial Williamsburg employees.

Notable structures include the large Capitol and the Governor's Palace, each carefully recreated and landscaped as closely as possible to original 18th century specifications, as well as Bruton Parish Church and the Raleigh Tavern.

The major goal of the Restoration was not to merely preserve or recreate the physical environment of the colonial period, but to facilitate education about the origins of the idea of America, which was conceived during many decades before the American Revolution.

In this environment, Colonial Williamsburg strives to tell the story of how diverse peoples, having different and sometimes conflicting ambitions, evolved into a society that valued liberty and equality.

Tonight at 10pm UK time @ www.transradiouk.com and catchup www.mixcloud.com/shelley-jayne

Everywhere you look in the UK, or TERF island, things seems just dark for LGBT and trans people in particular. When the next PM candidates make trans and gender critical talking points key issues; The Newspapers froth at the mouth with their latest clickbait, transphobic bile; Much needed trans clinic reforms for kids are treated as if they are “proof” that they were “transing” the kids; Drag Queens being called “Groomers” and even the awesome victory of the Lionesses is co-opted to anti lgbt hate….well….Winter has not only come…it has well arrived….even if it is 30 degrees outside.

So this week is certainly dark…but it is always darker before the dawn….and things will get better…or else we organise a mass Jail Break out of the UK! Perhaps to Australia ;)……

Complete with: The Dead Kennedys, Muse, Slap of Reality, Alice Cooper, Taylor Swift, Metallica, Leonard Cohen, Thomas Dolby, Billy Joel and of course….AC DC

Slightly colder, slightly drizzly kind of day that gives one permission to stay inside and play catchup on everything that has been left undone. That is until the mountains begin to peak through the swirls of clouds and the occasional spot of sun lights up the red, white and yellow rocks. Apparently Zion is busy over Thanksgiving - their last busy weekend until February - and the big monster RVs and trailers are beginning to pull in, dwarfing my little dear. There are days that I feel so out of place - so funny looking. Lucky for me many people have come up to admire and look at my trailer, and tell me how much they like it. They say it looks pretty good for its age. I'm new at this whole gig, so what would I know, except that it was all I could afford. So far today I did a whole bunch of writing for an online writing group that I belong to. I had a story to tell about an event that disturbed me greatly and further diminished my trust in people. I don't like those kind of stories and don't mean to sound like some sort of victim but it was like I was a commodity for sale, or a desperate person, or something, instead of a person with feelings. And so, I want to make it clear that I have chosen this lifestyle, however hard it may be, for the experience. I wanted to travel and take photos and this was the only way that I could manage to do that. I made a choice to give up the comforts of a warm home and Apple TV for the uncertain life on the road and I do not regret it. I only regret the people that I miss from home, which is a lot. But it is like this is my job, it is what I do and therefore I am doing it. One thing for sure, my self-respect would never allow me to turn this into a Cheap Trick, oops, trip. People violate others all of the time and it is part of life - our character comes from how we overcome and keep being true to ourselves - but there are certain violations that stay with a person for their entire life. We are all individuals and those "certain violations" might be different for one person than for another, but they are our experiences. Experiences that if we don't own and cop to will eat away at us. My own experiences don't run my everyday life and I rarely think about them until they are triggered or I wake up in a cold sweat. I've had a few cold, sweaty nights with a story on my mind that I was trying to make sense out of. Until, finally I know that another person's behavior has nothing to do with me, it is all about who they are and I don't choose to be friends with everyone. I don't choose to be friends with anyone I can't trust when my back is turned.

So, I am a passionate woman on the road alone, looking for the great photograph and the great outdoor adventure that I can write about, nothing more.

Hey, anyway, once I get writing you can't make my fingers stop. This shot was taken along the Virgin River one morning before the sun was down on the water. Not sure how far I walked along that river that day but it was nearly an all day adventure. At one point my camera quit working - the mirror wouldn't go back down - and it looked like I was going to be without because we are waiting on a backordered part for my new D7000 with less than 10,000 clicks on it. I have had this same problem repaired on the D700 before and it was costly and now it is just a matter of time. Plus, I made the mistake of having the local camera store blow out my camera and it is now a big mess. I've been cleaning it and it is getting better but the D700 is not meant to have constant lens changes, which is one of the reasons I own two cameras. Well, and so you see, if it isn't one thing it is another. In the between times I get to climb over rocks along the river, wander through grottos and challenge myself to do new things. The other day some of the many wonderful people I've met said, "You are living the dream." "Yes, I am living the dream," I told them, "but the dream never comes easily." They laughed and said, "True, that is so true, but it is worth it." "Yes, it definitely is."

Still playing catchup on posting. Just time for a quick shot late Sunday night. Janet got me this great desk globe to remind me of all the places we're going to travel (and take pictures!). I think more and more of the whole globe as home. And I'm looking forward to getting out and seeing more of it.

I didn’t realize that I’m a week delayed in my 52 week project until my sister informed me. It’s almost the end of the semester so I’ve been really busy these days. Now I’m going to do my best to catch up.

I got the title from Ultimecia, a character from the video game Final Fantasy 8.

There's no specific reason for the time on the clock. We just happened to shoot this picture at 4:15 this afternoon.

Thanks a lot to my sister for taking my picture and editing it!

EXPLORE ^__^

Thanks guys

Whilst we were up in the Northeast, back in August 2018, I had a day to myself and so I headed off, armed with my photo-kit and "Bucket List". First stop was Middlesborough, for a trip across the Tees on the Transporter Bridge, something that I had been wanting to do for a very long time! I parked on the North back and made the return trip as a pedestrian but it was still great fun!

Thought I can catchup with the sunset, but it was cloudy when i reached there... But still thought I shall try something and see how it comes out.. and here is what I got.. thank God.. :)

Used ND 10 stop. Single shot. 2 minutes 2 seconds exposure

Still playing catchup.

Probably one of my favourite sets I've shot this year. First time shooting e100gx slides as well and again, I love the look and colour that slides are able to provide.

Light was perfect that day, I remember we walked to the top of a parking garage to chase it and spent a couple of hours shooting around...so long in fact that by the time the light was dying and we realized we were starving, the Jamaican patty place in Kensington had already closed...

Day 16 Blunder(buss) [group catchup]

Restored to DuckDuckGo and asked for illustrations of blunderbuss’es and I got a lot of cartoon-ish pilgrims carrying the definitive shaped rifle. hunting and bringing back home turkeys. Ahh, It’s about to be Thanksgivingin the USA! Nice Coincidence. We don’t have Thanksgiving in Australia, it’s not a family get together here. I guess we do have the Melbourne Cup about a week later which is a big deal an opportunity for a holiday and party, still I felt bad bets blunders might be a slightly different take on this theme, just a bit harder to draw..

Red Catchup heard the sound of another car coming up fast behind him. It was the Fez Monkey who soon passed him.

"Gotta watch that monkey" he thought. "He may cause me some trouble in the race."

New feeder he just loves peanuts :-)

Have a great evening guys off out for a Syrian restaurant catchup later x

Playing catchup after a week away.

Red is one of the Mattel Farbs from 1971.

This frame was built for the Monthly Mecha Making Inspiration game! Play along here: www.mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8435

I originally tried to build a frame based directly on the inspiration image, but ultimately decided that I hated it too much to share here. I did like the legs that I built for it though, so I adjusted them slightly to fit the hip assembly for my Vandella frame. I almost stopped there, but then realized that building a Tengu mask to fit over the standard vandella head would be an excellent touch and also a second HtH system. Win-win!

Day 15 [group catchup]

Round and Round the Rugged Rock the Ragged Rascal Ran.

View On Black.

Given my proclivity for very odd love stories and my macabre, childish inclinations, it's probably predictable that I would love a fucked up fairy tale like Edward Scissorhands.

It's such an odd and inventive story that tangles the darkness in friendly society through the lightness of independence as an outcast. It's macabre on the surface, whimsical just beneath. The story is dark and sexual, and yet childish and honest and surreal. It's a very finely crafted film, from the visual style to the presence of music.

I have to say I often like Tim Burton more in theory than in actuality. Many of his films are close to amazing but do not reach full potential in my eyes.....I really do believe in Burton as a director. His style is dark and rich and Pretty / Ugly (tm). But I find many of his films to be watered down versions of what they could be. LIke he stands one step short of greatness.

Scissorhands, though, is truly everything it should be.

PS, one of my best friends is starting his own 365. Check it out!
