Coming home from work Sunday, the sky was magnificent and there were rainbows, so I headed to Sunrise Park in Holly Hill, along the Halifax River, to grab some quick shots. It was gorgeous and I captured some great images, even though it was still sprinkling, and I chose one of my better point and shoots rather than get my Canon wet. The rain quickly moved out, but with the light quickly fading, I chose to keep using the Fujifilm instead of going back to my car for the Canon. I was really pleased with some of the images, even though they weren't quite as sharp as the light faded. It was the kind of day you don't want to forget.
This man was standing in the river, net casting in shallow water. It didn't appear that he was having any luck, and after I took a few shots of him, I noticed he saw me and didn't seem comfortable with it, (probably because of the lack of fish!) so I stopped, and chose to keep the images in silhouette.
Patrick Gorman of the film Gettysberg
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gorman on a casting for a shoot I have coming up in January. Patrick's acting hails back to the seventies. He's acted in films like Gods and Generals, Gettysberg, Above The Law, and The Land That Time Forgot. (Dont ask me what these films are about, however I may have seen Gettsberg when I had a sub in 8th grade history) He has also starred some contemporary TV shows like Parks and Rec, The Drew Carey Show, and my personal favorite Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
One Funny thing about Patrick is that he is an ultimate character, I could not believe the fashion he walked in with, bright yellow 1980's sun glasses, big brown boots, levi's 501's and a sweet beige safari jacket. I was ready to shoot him then, but for the casting we needed all the guys in formal wear. We then started shooting some simple shots. Before I knew it we were shooting some of the most defined and intense portraits I have shot in a while.
As a portrait photographer always looking for interesting people, this is the type of guy you want to keep in the rolodex. I could not believe his look, he was amazing on camera, I could not take a bad picture of him. I was amazed at his subtle expressions, weathered look, and determination in his eyes. Once more, he has a bunch of horses I can't wait to point a camera at.
ps.. this was shot on my 20D circa 2005. go's to show its not always about the camera you have.
Challis told me she was in the mood for some photo therapy and we never say no to her. She joined us for a small group shoot along the Boise Green Belt at the end of August 2021. It was ungodly hot and bright but we found a nice spot in a clearing in the woods and went to work. Challis has a natural beauty about her and is just so sweet - and she's looking forward to being a new mom too.
Really like the shadow of the tree and then the columns but then even the corner of the wall...everything kinda gave it depth.

Me and my freind spent a few hours last night trying out astrophotograpy. Upon returning home I discovered none of my star photos were usable so I wanted to try out a shadow filled edit on a self portrait. I saw an interesting place by a tree under a street light in the park, and went with this shadow focused edit.

Into the Light series- a BUNCH of lights and chandelier shots I have been holding onto for some time. Each so marvelous to me to see!
This area was completely burnt through a few years ago from a large forest fire. This is the spot where we helped to establish and build a new cabin for intrepid adventures.
Sunday Fishing on JingJi Hu lake. I walked around the lake watching the Sunday fishermen casting away, they have this unique style, fishing with extra long rods, and casting with a big wide motion. I caught this "big one" just at the right moment. :-)
