My fav from this mornings shoot!

Colorful wood duck hen and drake, posing for their formal portrait. Best viewed large. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

I'll be away for a few weeks, we're heading to the rugged coast of Maine for some hiking, relaxation, and visits with friends. I'll catch up with everyone when I get back home.

Another idea for 2010 registration brochure for Bear Lake Camp in Albion, IN. The theme of the Summer is Captivated. This is one of several drafts. This concept made it to a second draft and the final will likely be this concept with some final tweaks. The logo in the top left is not even the BLC logo (yet). We are reworking the logo now too.

A fun little picture.

This is what has happened in the last few days since Pokemon Go mania hit Singapore. Everywhere, people are going to Pokespot to look for that rare Pokemon and such.

Only photographers like me and the fellow photographer in the centre of the photo here aren't too overwhelmed by this sight. Just not yet though for the time being at least. :)

At least I heard of some good stories of complete strangers helping each other out and making friends in the process myself, contrary to what the mass media often like to report on Pokemon Go. It will probably take a while at least to know what the long term effects of Pokemon Go will be.

Another shot of the lone tree against this morning's sunrise along the Midland Highway in Tasmania. Taken with a wider angle lens. I like the lines in the sky connecting with the lines in the horizon, joining at the tree. Very symbolic, very meaningful.

Creating art out of art, my take on a fine piece of street art. The toning was more dictated by the street lighting than me, picture was taken at night. The actual piece is in black and white (I think, was quite hard to tell).

European otter ~ From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_otter ~ The European otter (Lutra lutra), also known as the Eurasian otter, Eurasian river otter, common otter and Old World otter, is a European and Asian member of the Lutrinae or otter subfamily, and is typical of freshwater otters.

Description ~ The European otter is a typical species of the otter subfamily. Brown above and cream below, these long, slender creatures are well-equipped for their aquatic habits. Its bones show osteosclerosis, increasing their density to reduce buoyancy. This otter differs from the North American river otter by its shorter neck, broader visage, the greater space between the ears and its longer tail. However, the European otter is the only otter in its range, so it cannot be confused for any other animal. Normally, this species is 57 to 95 cm (23–37 in) long, not counting a tail of 35–45 cm (14–18 in). The female is shorter than the male. The otter's average body weight is 7 to 12 kg (15.4–26.4 lbs), although occasionally a large old male may reach up to 17 kg (37 lbs). The record-sized specimen, reported by a reliable source but not verified, weighed over 24 kg (53 lbs).

Range and habitat ~ The European otter is the most widely distributed otter species, its range including parts of Asia and Africa, as well as being spread across Europe. Though currently believed to be extinct in Liechtenstein, and Switzerland, they are now very common in Latvia, along the coast of Norway and across Great Britain, especially Shetland, where 12% of the UK breeding population exist. Ireland has the highest density of Eurasian otters in Europe. In Italy, they can be found in southern parts of the peninsula. The South Korean population is endangered.

In general, their varied and adaptable diets mean they may inhabit any unpolluted body of fresh water, including lakes, streams, rivers, and ponds, as long as the food supply is adequate. European otters may also live along the coast, in salt water, but require regular access to fresh water to clean their fur. When living in the sea, individuals of this species are sometimes referred to as "sea otters", but they should not be confused with the true sea otter, a North American species much more strongly adapted to a marine existence.

Diet ~ The European otter's diet mainly consists of fish. During the winter and in colder environments, though, fish consumption is significantly lower, and the otters use other sources of food, including amphibians, crustaceans, insects, birds and sometimes small mammals, including young beavers.

In a world adorned with innocence and grace,

A small girl's smile, a captivating embrace.

Her laughter, a melody, pure and sweet,

Like sunshine dancing on dainty feet.

Eyes twinkling with dreams, like stars in the night,

A radiant glow, a beacon of light.

In her joyous realm, worries beguile,

A precious little girl, with a heartwarming smile.

"TB is the child of poverty - and also its parent and provider"

This quote from Archbishop Desmond Tutu encapsulates the link between TB and poverty.

Poverty, malnutrition, sickness go hand in hand. It is in communities such as this where highly infecious diseases, such as Tuberculosis, live and spread. According to research, Tuberculosis contributes to an annual total of 400,000 deaths in children.
