One of several dark green fritillaries (Speyeria aglaja) in our neighbourhood one week ago, on a lesser knapweed (Centaurea nigra).
It got its English name from its dark green hue to the undersides of the hindwings.

I have seen this spider in a number of locations around the lower Blue Mountains over the years and have never had an I.D. for it. Best guess is Jotus sp.
We went over this creek several times on our hike today in the Kettle Moraine Forest. It's always so soothing watching & listening to water.
