While visiting friends in Britain, we spent an afternoon cheering on their son at his school cricket match, held in Cardiff. The scene was so archetypally British, it was almost surreal: children in cricketing whites, playing a match on the town green, in the shadow of the cathedral spire. I half expected to find a Merchant Ivory film crew lurking in the woods.
The fire is dancing tonight and the winds are talking
Dancers from past lives enter the circle
Leading me back and forth through the history of myself
The mind searches as the spirit dances
The drums...dancing to the heartbeat
Memories of long ago insights to the future
I hear the winds whispering my sweat lodge dreams
I see Sungmanitu tanka (the wolf) my guide
He shows me the ancestors, not mine
They are not Lakota, or Tsalagi, or Iroquois
But they are all Nations, one Nation
Speaking with wisdom to share with each other
Yesterdays create todays and promises of tomorrow
The lies will die with the smoke
And the whispers of the winds are clear and loud
And we shall all see the return of the buffalo.

It's 2pm, we're at rest stop #2, and I'm needing to call Kellie to tell her we'll be at the finish between 3:30 and 4pm. She's planning to take pics of us coming in, so I wanted to be sure to tell her when we'd be there. That's my friend, Leslie, to my right....smiling big for the camera! :)

Again, the weatherman was calling for clear skies yesterday, but today it was mainly cloudy in Lake Louise. Nonetheless, we had a great time viewing the Alpine Larches and summiting Mount St Piran, one of the lower peaks visible from Lake Louise.

I took this of a cute little calling card tin box that I got. It is a shiny metallic periwinkle color.

If there's one thing that could be said about the Studebaker Champion is that it's distinctive! A best seller for Studebaker, but not enough to keep the company afloat.

If you love something, you should go after it. If you are happier there, than you should go for it. It's going to be hard, there are going to be tears, frustrations, and other people will be affected by your actions. But don't forget that your talents won't be talent at all if you don't act upon it. Follow that light, feel that joy, and be happy. Most importantly, don't forget that we will support you and rejoice in every step forward towards your goals. Have patience. Remember: follow your calling.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
My sister loves to do zombie/special-effects makeup and for a photo challenge, I decided to go along with the zombie idea and give her a few photos to start her portfolio off with. I used a white background (that I edited out) and two florescent lights with white opaque umbrellas. I put the lights very close together (at about one and eleven o'clock) and stuck my camera lens right through the tiny opening in between. I didn't have too many troubles with this photo except for adding a few extra details to the skin and special FX.

campaigns addressed included stopping the massive adani coal mine proposed for queensland's galilee basin, getting oil drilling operations out of the great australian bight, winding back the country's commitment to coal and fossil fuels generally, and halting the expansion of the fracking industry
