No, really, what are these cocoons? They were festooning the underside of every branch, cross, and undercut, and they were hairy and windowed. You can see somebody in each cocoon, peeking out the window. They're like tiny, furry Airstream trailers.
East Central Washington, if that helps.
Day 32: Today I woke up quite ill with a stabbing pain in my temple. Maria had same. And then magically a few hours (and three ibuprofen, a tylenol, and two sudafed) later, we looked at each other and said, "I feel ... better!" And we did a little dance. The euphoria one experiences when a severe headache finally eases...well, it's terrific. So terrific that I had the bright idea to first wash all three dogs and then steam clean everything in the house resembling fabric or carpet. Brian (who became ill at the exact moment Maria and I became well) fetched the Rug Doctor, and I had my way with the children's carpets. They look magnificent. Or at least clean. Then we took turns working on the living room couch and chair. The emptying of the waste water was humbling, believe me.

Tokyo's leading underground London club night makes its Tokyo debut. DJs Mike McKenna, Munoz, Luis Sanchez, Wotlie & Hisashi T play London Calling at La Fabrique Tokyo.
On the same day as the Teddy Bear bee, we had two baby Satin Bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus) come to visit. I had heard them around the propety in the weeks leading up to this particular day. I heard a persistent noise and came onto the back balcony to investigate, where one of the two baby Bowerbirds was stationed, calling for its parent. It didn't seem fazed by my presence so I was able to snap an ok photo as well as some video.
Coming out of the cinema (Tuesday night sneak preview), Bumba decided to make a phone call to Carice. A silly idea, of course, because Carice was already in a deep sleep! It was 11pm, after all.

and all the rest
a man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries
and high above the church bells start to ring
and as the heaviness the body oh the heaviness settles in
somewhere you can hear a mother sing
then it's one foot then the other as you step out onto the road
how much weight? how much weight?
then it's how long? and how far?
and how many times before it's too late?
calling all angels
calling all angels
walk me through this one
don't leave me alone
calling all angels
calling all angels
we're cryin' and we're hurtin'
and we're not sure why...
and every day you gaze upon the sunset
with such love and intensity
it's almost...it's almost as if
if you could only crack the code
then you'd finally understand what this all means
but if you could...do you think you would
trade in all the pain and suffering?
ah, but then you'd miss
the beauty of the light upon this earth
and the sweetness of the leaving
calling all angels
calling all angels
walk me through this one
don't leave me alone
callin' all angels
callin' all angels
we're tryin'
we're hopin'
we're hurtin'
we're lovin'
we're cryin'
we're callin'
'cause we're not sure how this goes

Though I do enjoy the comfort of the indoors and modern civilization I can't help but feel that constant pull towards being in nature. I truly feel that there is a spiritual connection with nature that God uses to call us out of our busy lives. These little moments of euphoria in pure, natural, creation are in my opinion the whispers of our Creator calling us home.

The real name of this piece of art is "The Calling" but most people from Milwaukee just call it The Sunburst.

Hear me calling
Hear me call on you
Hear me calling
Hear me call on you
If you don't come soon
I'll know your love ain't true
Hear me calling
Hear me calling loud
Hear me calling
Hear me calling loud
If you don't come soon
I'll be wearing a shroud

I need a sign to let me know you're here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup
When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you feel the world shake from the words that are said

With the weather steadily getting worse and only half way through the job. A lite sprinkle is begining to fall No dummy Mainframe decides to head in before the real rain starts falling.
when i am out shooting pics, i sometimes want the ppl who are the subjects to know where on the web they will be. used to scribble my flick'r name onto a scrap piece of paper for them but then i got smart and had "calling cards" made up for a nominal cost (actually they were free as long as i paid the postage). "calling cards" were popular in bygone eras when people used to drop by to visit; if the family wasn't home you gave the card to a servant to let them know you had been by-- kind of early early VM ~grin~
