I picked up a set of Book of Knowledge children's books from 1918. This is one of the photos showing how central operators handled call routing.
'Southern' service from Southampton Central runs in under caution to platform 2 at Horsham prior to attaching to the front coaches which had arrived a few minutes earlier from Bognor Regis. Two trains each hour currently divide and attach at Horsham on weekdays. The front portion of down services run fast to Barnham before continuing to either Portsmouth Harbour or Southampton Central, the rear portion runs to Bognor Regis serving intermediate stations. The reverse process happens on up trains.
La Universidad celebró el simposio: “SOStenibilidad Calling”, el jueves 16 de mayo en el Campus de la Dehesa de la Villa.
El profesor Eduardo Roig, coordinador del Máster de Tecnologías en Edificación Sostenible de la Universidad Nebrija, abrió esta jornada en la que hizo referencia a la banda británica The Clash y su canción London Calling, para reivindicar responsabilidades, en este caso encaminadas hacia una arquitectura sostenible.
La situación actual de la edificación sostenible en España y la búsqueda de principios generadores de una Naturaleza Artificial estabilizadora de nuestro futuro común fueron los temas de este simposio, que reflexionó sobre los límites ortodoxos de la construcción –y destrucción- de arquitectura, cuyas bases se diluyen en pro de una nueva modernidad que busca la adaptación al medio.
El encuentro contó con María López de Asiaín, especialista en medioambiente de la Facultad de Arquitectura y Diseño de la UCOL de México, que participó en esta jornada a través de una videoconferencia; Marta Húmera, responsable de proyectos de la Fundación de la Casa que Ahorra, Javier Mata, profesor de la Universidad Nebrija experto en eficiencia energética, y Rosana Rubio profesora del Máster de Tecnologías en Edificación Sostenible de Nebrija.

“WoCalling” – Women Calling for the arts – er et ensemble som ble initiert av komponist og vokalist Cecilie Giskemo. Ensembelet består av 12 kvinnelige- og 3 mannlige artister fra Zimbabwe, England og Norge. “WoCalling” søker å skape noe eksepsjonelt og originalt og samtidig styrke kvinners rolle i kunsten gjennom en kombinasjon av musikk, dans og poesi og en miks av ulike kulturelle bakgrunner. Resultatet er en unik konsertopplevelse. Publikum blir invitert med på reise fra Zimbabwes savanner til de Norske fjell og fjorder. Musikken blander elementer av jazz, zimbabwisk- og norsk tradisjonell musikk i tillegg til en dose samtidsmusikk. Musikerne spiller tuba, mbira (Zimbabwisk tommelpiano), marimba i tillegg til en stolt rekke av den kvinnelige vokal.
Medvirkende: Shi Pratt, Sophe Arstall, Maylene Chengerai, Dikson Monro, Aura Kawanzaruwa, Prudence Katomene Mbofama, Hope Masike, Fallon Richardson, Ruth Mbangwa, Cecile Giskemo, Maria Jardardottir, Kari Nergaard Blivik, Anna Stott, Tor Åge Schunemann, Kaja Bjørntvedt, Jenny Hoy.
WoCalling står på Melas hovedscene søndag kl. 14:30.
