Still trying to get a grip of this lens to have it perform as I like. Not as easy as I thought... The blur it creates is rather different according to distance or light conditions. Rikenon 55mm f1.2 was easier to handle. Differently from modern lenses, close-ups are possibles, but they do not seem to be its cup of tea.

Orcs and I wish you the best for this Christmas days.

Thanks all whose are still here.

About the process

I made this image with a DuKane 3-inch f/2.5 Coated Anastigmat slide projection lens that I converted to M42 mount. I have called these lenses "Ektoplasmars" sometimes and it is a way to find other images made with similar lenses.

Vintage Pentacon GDR 2.8- 29 MC lens on a DSLR. Crabapple leaves popping open against a clear blue sky. Close in focus, major bokeh explosion. I love this lens for color contrast, it totally explodes! ISO 400, 1/1000 bright sun. Fotodiox M42 to Nikon F adaptor.

This photo shows the results of a Charles BESELER Co. - 14" lens mounted to a 4x5 Large format camera. This is a picture of the ground glass focusing screen. Please see video for an explanation of how the camera is made: youtu.be/BVPlG9EeLU0 The heavy vignetting comes from the camera not the lens. I would normally Photoshop the vignetting out, but it looked so nice I left it in.

Lens is 355mm f/3.5. When the lens is on a 4x5 camera, it equals a 105mm f/1.0 on a full frame DSLR camera.

I also shot a comparison photo showing the same scene from a Nikon 135mm f/2.0 lens. www.flickr.com/photos/lawsonpix/41549259371/ It's the closest lens I have for the comparison.

The lens produces some nice bubble bokeh but it's soft at the focal plane. Also, the lens is larger than the lens opening on my 4x5 large format camera so mounting the lens was a challenge.

Often isn¨t the subject, but the POV. (⓿_⓿)

Rikenon 55mm f1.2 was easier to handle. As any ultrafast lens, also this toy likes the darkness. Highlights make it nervous.

I always try to visit the old St Marx Cemetery in Vienna in late April or early May, when the lilacs are still blossoming and the chestnuts are coming into flower. The scent is overwhelming, and the atmosphere betwixt the overgrown gravestones with their curious inscriptions is one of peace and timelessness.
