Elmo 85mm f2.8 projector lens
This projector lens also flares and creates a nice bubble bokeh.
Non-coated old lenses are now in my shopping list for their flare defect (feature!). Few months before, I was making sure lenses are coated version :) Wonderful world of playing with old lenses...

I got a Meyer Trioplan 50 for my Exakta because everyone says it is a rubbish lens but it produces bubble bokeh. They got it all wrong, though. It produces bubble bokeh but it's a rubbish lens. But it does produce bubble bokeh. Lots of it. Woo hoo.
Trioplans have risen sharply in price lately because of the bubble bokeh hype. But I think that applies mainly to those that can easily be adapted to digital cameras, such as when they had a M42 mount. That does not apply to mine, which has an Exakta mount.
My CZJ Tessar will come back on and stay on.

Macro Mondays - theme: #LitByCandlelight
... so I too got affected by the Christmas season and used a little angel figurine for this week's theme "Lit by Candlelight".
This figurine is about 5 cm high altogether - in this picture you see (from head to hands) less than 3 cm of the angel.
Lit only by plenty of tea candles; the background is a golden glitter gift wrap, hence the bokeh.
I nearly scorched my fingers a couple of times, placing the figurine or shifting the tea candles ; )
But it was great fun taking this photo!
Happy Macro Monday everybody !!

Happy Macro Mondays euch allen !!
With a Takumar 58mm f2.4.
With more "Celtic crosses" in the small bubbles if you zoom right in. (Hat-tip Bonzo Din).

More bokeh the Helios way...was in two minds about this as the foreground isn't great but I just liked the crazy bokeh.

This daisy was pictured with the vintage Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 50mm f/2.9 (M42). It was done wth enough backlight and a 13mm macro extension tube. the focus is on the centre of the flower. The max aperture on the was f/2.9 on the lens and on the camera f/2.8,

'My meadow' is full of wild carrots in various stages of bloom. This flower is so incredibly variable that I'm going to give you, dear viewers, a bit of a tantrum with this one ;-).

Two lenses, two different creations of the subject.
CZJ Flektogon at 35mm @f/4 with f/2.4 (I) versus Tamron SP 28-80mm f/3.5-4.2 (II) in close focus mode for the 80mm focal length (Adaptall 2) vintage zoom model 27A.
The Flektogon has a very creamy, soft background / bokeh even when not fully open (@f/4), while the Tamron SP 27A fully open has a very busy, often bubbly background / bokeh, sometimes giving a painterly, artistic effect. Difficult lens, very sensitive to side light (loss of contrast), at high contrast and brightness it often creates a glow around sharp transitions, it can surprise on the plus side, but often on the minus.
I'm curious to see how you, dear viewers, will judge both versions.
I invite you to comment, even if it is just to say which version you like better.

I decided too long had gone by since I took the Helios out for a woodland wander...it was so wonderful to see all of the new Spring growth bursting forth. Nature really is a tonic in these strange times! Quite nice to focus on something other than Owls for a change 😁
