My first entry for Brickscalibur, in the Monarchaic minifig category. Decided pretty early I wanted to try with mongolian monarchs (ish) as I had seen some pics of their dresses. Never tried figbarf before so that was a really fun category Anyways, hope you like them :)

Brickscalibur may be over but while we're hard at work hammering out the results and preparing the announcement of the winners, there are still a few more trophies to unveil. Here's the one for "Medieval Micro" - look like he might have a shot at that prize himself!

While a bit more simple in appearance - the profession kind of requires it - this one was a delicate exercise in color balance. The nougat pants and those 2x4 tiles definitely saved the day!

While the plague rages outside the castle walls, the nobility have remained unscathed and are able to enjoy a day of feasting. Phillip and Joan have lived comfortable their entire lives, however with a war in the north, Phillip must leave the next day to lead his army to aid in the defense.

I built this in collaboration with Josdu for Brickscalibur’s The Rich and the Poor category. I had a lot of fun building a detailed large scale interior particularly with all the food! The title is inspired by a video game which Josiah drew inspiration from for his build.

More pictures in the first comment and album.

For Kings and commoners, the most famous and busiest tavern in all of Faldia. Not many kings have visited though, it is frequently used by the Royal Falcon Guard and the main Black Falcon army.

Today we all gathered for the event, and we have a special surprise, the Fantastic Fauns are currently playing in Faldia, at our tavern.

Please welcome them with a round of applause.

-

The Golden Crown is run by the Ryan family, who are known for their hospitality.

-

Aht and Minke (Fantasy figbarf – Whispering Woods I and IV) are still playing a board game at the window to the right.

Aht: “I can see why you wanted to return to the city, really lively here, although I’m fonder of the woods myself.”

Minke: “Yeah, when the position of captain of the Royal Falcon Guard came free, I couldn't turn it down, thanks for the recommendation Aht.”

Aht: “No problem, glad I could help you.”

-

Also to the right are two members of the trade guild discussing some new trade opportunities with Felisia, located south of Faldia.

-

On the balcony are Lord Biron and his wife, who are currently staying at the tavern, he isn’t really happy about all the noise downstairs though.

-

Many locals are also frequently visiting and get together at the tavern.

My final entry for Brickscalibur 2024, for the "perspective matters" category. Since I am currently in America, I had to make it a digital entry.

This build is inspired by Blasphemous, a gorgeous metroidvania game that really inspired me. Finishing both the first and second game in 2024 really made me want to make a hommage to this fascinating universe.

Like what you're seeing? You can win this MOC in this year’s Brickscalibur! Consider entering the 12x12 Vignette category and this might just be yours!

More castle characters, there might be a theme here! Loved the idea of a jester and went with a Witcher 3 Dandelion color scheme – hope you like it!

Thanks for watching.

Hugo and Amicia are trying desperately to escape the evil fate which pursues them, magic, dark enough to hide the sun. They go deep into the heart of the earth to find another chance: a little hope. But what they thought to be their last hope, makes them feel absolutely hopeless. The magic had been here too… and it had only destroyed.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

This is the true prologue to a scene that is coming: something quite big, and one which means a lot to me. This is a scene from the video game A Plague Tale: Requiem. Hugo and Amicia find the former carrier of the Macula, who was able to control rats... but the child had been enchained, and, thinking that all was lost, had avenged himself upon the world by giving himself up to the magical Macula, and accidentally unleashing the Justinian Plague...

This is my entry to Brickscalibur 2022, for the category Where's Waldo? As the menace of the rat driven plague draws ever nearer, can you spot the four evil omens in this build?

We have the head of a dark tan rat for the easy find.

Then you can find a grey rat in the older mold, which I consider to be the second easiest, a level medium, perhaps.

Next we have the hard level. Another dark tan rat, but this time, just the tail is visible.

And lastly, we have level near impossible! See if you can find the brown rat, who is really not even identifiable as a rat: but if you find a sliver of brown, you've discovered his body!

You can see behind the scenes of the build here if you want.

I hope you like it, this is my second of three planned entries for Brickscalibur, and was also my main entry to the CCC, for the category Magical Mishaps. It was great to use a mist maker to add atmosphere to the photo! And the whole scene is LEGO (well, except the mist), it was a fun challenge to make the curving arched wall in the background :) .

The outer reaches of Mitgardia are home to only a hearty few. Clan and brethren alike will withstand the bitter cold to protect the honor of their homeland.

It has been many, many years since I properly built castle. And with the slew of active castle contests (Brickscalibur, CCC, Guilds of Historica), it felt like a good time to try my hand at a theme I once loved. Special thanks to Markus and Isaac for nudging me to give it a try again. I did fall on old habits a bit and start with a reinvention of an Old Build, but it certainly helped to start with something familiar.

Chinampas, or 'floating islands' are one of the most well known Aztec agricultural practices. These rectangular artificial islands of arable land were created by by interweaving reeds with stakes beneath the water surface in the shallow waters of a freshwater lake. Then layers of soil and aquatic vegetation were built on top until a layer of soil was visible on the water's surface. With excellent irrigation and abundance of available nutrients, chinampas produced high yields of maize and other crops such as beans, squash, chillis and avocados. Willow trees were planted in the corners of the plots to bind the soil into the lake's bottom over time. The lakes also provided protein in the form of fish and water fowl.

When the King married in the Spring, the entire kingdom rejoiced. By the first Winter rumors began to spread of strange goings on in the castle, and in the Summer the King took ill. The laws changed, enforced vigilantly by the common soldiers of the King at the goad of a monstrous knight.

Inside the castle a new order reigned, enforced by ghostly wizard duo, a hollow suit of armor with an executioner's blade, and the Queen's axe most of all.

Two participants of the the Goat-Cart Racing League's Ultralightweight Division line up for today's Grand Prix. Fans in the stump-stands are already fully supporting their favorites. Richard the Scarred at the start. He is more of a royal warrior than a racer, but despite this, he hopes to take the championship in today's Grand Prix together with his rooster Jack, who has repeatedly shown distinctive endurance and courage in battles.

Made for Brickscalibur's "The Crazy Goat-Cart Race" category, in collaboration with P.B.

Brickscalibur may be over but while we're hard at work ironing out the results and preparing the announcement of the winners, there are still a few more trophies to unveil. Today's pair is for our collaborative category "The Rich and the Poor" where a pair of two builders had to create a matching pair of MOCs.

When we decided on a category showcasing the disparity of rich and poor, we right away started joking about giving away a goat, naturally – and obviously the one building for the poor would score it.

Well.. We're not quite that cruel and thanks to an awesome friend who shall remain anonymous, there's now a pair of goats for a pair of builders. Rich, isn't it? :D

Here's my microscale castle entry for Brickscalibur and Colossal Castle Contest.

A castle overlooking a small seaside village.

I tried to use some interesting parts, in particular I think the capes and the teacups worked out pretty well. I'm also quite satisfied with the design of the dragon and the sailboats.

War and plague devastate medieval France as the English invade and rats come from the East. Caught in the middle of it all, Amicia and Huge have to fight for their lives to just escape alive after both their poor parents are killed and their small home burned. But with no home and no food, and with Hugo sick from the plague, will they even be able to both survive?

I built this in collaboration with Joe for Brickscalibur’s The Rich and the Poor category. I got inspired by a great video game which I haven't played, but which I saw the walk-through for. I changed up the story quite a bit, so that Amicia and Hugo were born poor and lost everything, and I'm afraid in my story the poor little boy won't make it... but it was exciting to build one of the moments from the movie in a slightly different way at this scale! I hope you like it!

Far from the eyes of society and the law, slowly settling into the fetid marshes on the edge of Tranquility Bay, the town known as Tybalt's Folly provides an ideal base for smuggling along the coast, as well as a last refuge for the adventurer, the outcast, and the ne'er-do-well.

When Santa heard about The Crazy Goat-Cart Race, and being a speed junkie himself, he decided to prep his young buck Rudolph for it. Claus made an intense fitness program mostly including all sorts of climbing - cliffs, rocks, roofs, chimneys, so the small reindeer can compete with the crazy goats. The diet plan was his secret weapon - melted goat cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only thing Santa had to figure out was, how to disguise himself for the race...

This is my entry to Brickscalibur's "Medieval Micro" category.

This is my participation to brickscalibur in monstrous encounters category.

This build was mainly inspired by Kaamelott and Monty Python.

It was really hard to build an organic creature but I'm happy of the result. So if you walk in a forest and you found a killer rabbit like him, I recommend you to Run away ! or use an holy handgrenade if you have one.

After being invited by Duke Alessandro Bellini to join the many scholars and artisans who will be present at the great Sognéterno tournament,

Alaric de Cournouiller travels all over Feodalis to reach the city of Sognéterno.

With the help of his two goats, one of which is trailing behind, he has brought with him a wide variety of plants and other ingredients to provide tournament participants with healing potions and other items.

In a few weeks, Alaric will arrive in Sognétorno, so don't forget to open your bag of gold.

The Yucatan Peninsula is one of the most inhospitable areas on earth for human settlement due to its lack of fertile soil and tropical climate. However, the Maya were able to adapt to this environment, and turned the peninsula into highly urbanized area with multiple city states like Tikal, Copan, and Calakmul, At the peak of the classical Maya period (250-950 A.D.), the Maya city states had a population of around 2 million people, with some estimates going as high as 10 million. The area the Maya city states ruled made up parts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. The Maya were able to support this large population in the jungle through slashing and burning for agriculture. This would entail clearing forests and burning the dead plants, which was done to add more organic matter to the already thin soil layer. After this, the Maya were able to grow their crops such as Maze to feed their growing population.

The irony of slash and burn agriculture is that while it made Maya civilization possible, it would also contribute to its downfall. The increased population growth saw the demand for more farmland, and in turn would lead to more forests being cleared. This doesn't necessarily mean farming will automatically lead to environmental collapse, rather the Maya method of farming was inefficient as a Maya farmer could produce enough crops to feed 5 people. In contrast, a modern American farmer can produce enough crops to feed 200 people. The Maya had effectively reached their carrying capacity for the region. The warming climate during the medieval warm period would not help either as the Yucatan had endured a centuries long drought.

As an easter egg for this build, I included the legendary Maya figure known as the Xtabay, a demonic seductress. Can you find her in the dark forests of the Yucatan?

My second entry to the CCCs "Have a peasent day" category and Brickscaliburs "Where's Waldo" category.

Here's my figbarf entry for Brickscalibur, Farmstead Figures category, and Colossal Castle Contest, Have a Peasant Day! category.

A set of 5 nomadic farmers, a baby and a number of animals are traveling in the countryside, crossing a shallow stream.

It was my first time building a figbarf, I hope I didn't add too many unnecessary stuff around the minifigures.

I'm quite happy on how the minifigs turned out.

I didn't have any wheels for the cart, so I brick build them. I think the tree looks good too and I managed to add a spider net piece, in which they are carrying fishes.

Dan and several companions were traveling in Nocturnus, hunting down a evil mage known for necromancy and other vile arts. The second one in this year's collection! I wanted to do a more diverse line-up this year, and fittingly the Farmstead Figures

category called for someone to feed some chicken. By accident she turned out to look a lot like Belle – oh, well!

The Duke of Glannalt is brought to the Folviken.

Abductees are always brought to the lake fortress for safe keeping until a ransom is paid. High profile persons, such as the duke, are always high stakes; sometimes our work just plays into the hands of an opportunistic usurper. But the rewards for the Wolfpack are too good to pass up.

I created this MOC for the Over water! category of the CCC XIX. I had been planning such a MOC for a while, especially after

seeing Jonas Kramm's Wolfholm. The submission was also very fitting for the Brickscalibur Rogues and Outlaws.

Check out more information and pictures on my blog post. C&C welcome.

My fourth entry to Brickscalibur, in the Frozen wild category. Really wanted to try a bit of forced perspective (and get a wolf in there, haha!). Spent quite a bit of time on the northern lights in the sky, a real pain to take a picture of...

Been getting back into classic castle thanks to some friends, really enjoying the bold colors.

Alrik Greybeard once lived somewhere high up in the snowy mountains. He was an old dwarf who had already been on countless raids. Alrik, who was commonly called Alrik Greybeard, had decided to make one last journey in his old age. He wanted to meet all of his friends once again, whom he had met on his travels. And, it must be said, Alrik was never averse to adventures that might arise along the way... up here, in the mountains, that is where Alrik's last journey begins.

It was quite obvious to build a witcher for this, and to be honest it was a lot harder than anticipated. I struggled capturing all the straps and pockets that usually adorn Geralt's outfits. I think the final result works quite well though... Curious who ends up winning this!

My 12x12 entry for Brickscalibur!

I would like to introduce you to King Janor and his household. Let me start from left to right.

Vanamee, the Seeress: She was born in the Kingdom of Teine and was part of Queen Liahnee‘s dowry. Her power lies in her gift of clairvoyance, which King Janor likes to misuse for his plans.

Jallak, the Snake Slayer: He ist the younger brother of King Janor. He is glad that he did not have to ascend the throne after the death of his father, because he loves to move out for adventure. He prefers to kill snakes, which are numerous in Deighe Gorm.

Grom: He is the leader of the royal guard and does not leave the King‘s side himself, day or night.

King Janor: He is the monarch of Deighe Gorm. He strives for power and wealth and has a weakness for gemstones and gold. In order to achieve his goal, he not only exploits his own people , but also uses Vanamee‘s gift to search for lost treasures in his and foreign kingdoms.

Queen Liahnee: She is the daughter of the King of Teine. After her father got into trouble and sought help from King Janor, she was married to him. But it was not a happy marriage, because King Janor was not interested in her at all, only in her dowry – the Seeress Vanamee. Queen Liahnee can only smile when she can look after her children.

Lady Yannah: She is the lady-in-waiting of Queen Liahnee and was also born in Teine. She devotedly takes care of her mistress to alleviate her homesickness for Teine.

Lord Larrec: He is the ambassador from Teine and was sent to the Court of King Janor to keep an eye on his machinations and to look after the Queen‘s welfare.

Master Salisar: He is the Lord Chancellor of Deighe Gorm and already served the father of King Janor. Due to the cruel actions of King Janor, his quiet times are over. In addition to contracts that he has to negotiate with other monarchs for his King , he is showered with the pleadings of the exploited people every day.

Had lot of fun creating this litte Castle in the forest.

You ever wondered how Hobbits came to be? I mean, fair, hairless faces, mildly pointy ears combined with overall shortness and lots of hair?

Meet Gromeoli Montmagnus son, a proud dwarf who never imagined himself falling helplessly in love with a nasty elf, in this case the lovely Jul'adrial Capu'ellet, who took 100 years to also totally fall for the wooing dwarf.

A love forbidden and most peculiar and stuff of legend. But the existence of Hobbits alone is enough proof i guess... 4th submission for the Brickscalibur Contest close to the finish
