"Hubba Blooba has delivered a 12×12 castle vignette featuring a medieval scribe, attending to his work in a room worth writing home about. From the slanted brickwork in the ceiling, to the well textured stone floor, there are loads of impressive details in this build. My favorite part is the scribe’s desk, which is made (appropriately enough) from books."

This build took me much longer than expected. I had wanted to get it done in about a week after Brickscalibur started (November 1st) but that clearly didn't go to plan - after quite a few revisions and changes to the layout and design, I can say I'm pretty happy with it :)
Built for the 12x12 category for Brickscalibur 2021.
The housekeeper opened the door and let a man in, dripping wet. She offered this man a bed for the night. But, no, he didn't desire hospitality – he wasn't staying long – for it was revenge that he craved ...
For ages I’ve been wanting to try out Mike Doyle iconic smoke technique and combine it with the more modern ‘dish’ technique. If you thought the title sounded familiar, well fret not it’s actually taken from the Bob Dylan song Shelter from the Storm, which, alongside Norwegian Wood, inspired me to build this for for CCCXX’s Colossal Castle category and Brickscalibur’s ‘Where’s Waldo’ Category. Within this build, therefore, is hidden this man whom lit the house, can you find him? If you think that was too easy, try find a Death Star, a mouse and a frog!
Built for the Brickscalibur Contest Category The Frozen Wilds. And also the next Chapter for my Story in the Guilds of Historica ;-)
Edit: Yes, replaced the original picture. Now you can see the chicken boy!
In the realm of the evil Queen Tara a baby has been born... a baby who is heir to the throne and destined to one day bring vengeance on her for her tyranny... destined, that is, if he can survive the hunt!
When I first saw the Where's Waldo category for Brickscalibur I was stumped, but somewhere along the line I said to myself, I want to hide a baby. Around the same time I had the idea that it would be someone escaping from a ruler and have the V shaped background--and the two concepts merged perfectly.
Whew! This was a fun build, but a slow going one. I built for 15+ hours almost without a break yesterday, and then did the same today! It was like building 20 super detailed vignettes. Yes, I should have started earlier.
I tried to load up with a lot of different scenes and included 4 minifigures from 3 other Brickscalibur entries! Unfortunately two of them didn't make this picture, but see if you can spot the peasant from the Guarded Inn and the little boy from Courage!
I know this picture could be better in natural light, so I'll be doing that sometime next week (and trying to get a wider angle), and also taking some detail shots as there is so much stuff going on here!
Did it! See close-ups on Insta.

I've built a viking warrior for Brickscalibur and loved how it turned out. I wanted to build more vikings and this is how I came up with few more characters, which I'll introduce in the upcoming days.
We are starting with Birger, who is Thorgrim's older brother.
Sir Roderick De Broderick had 4 squires. Bobi - he was the oldest and in charge of the “Dragon Experience”, as his master used to say. Dobi was responsible for the smaller blades and shields. Then we have Robi and Tobi, the twins, they were given the job to carry the massively oversized sword, that Sir Roderick called Excalibur. This wasn’t the real Excalibur, but neither was the dragon. And Roderick was not the real name of De Broderick. He just loved to rhyme stuff.

My entry for the Interior Architecture category for the Brickscalibur 2021 contest.
Story is pretty obvious. My focus was on the interior details for this one :)
Here's my entry for the Brickscalibur Rogues and Outlaws category! This build shows a peaceful wizard being attacked by forest rouges.
I had a lot of fun making this build, and I can't thank enough all of the wonderful people that helped and gave advice, thank you!

My entry for the microscale category in Brickscalibur
The castle of crockery
Once upon a time in a modern kingdom, there was a cook who was a little too creative. At the end of every banquet. He made his own castle with what he had on hand, a chopping board as a bridge, plate and platter as a tower, red glasses for the two of you and the sink as a moat.
This is a very different style of build for me but I am super happy with how it turned out. I built it for Brickscalibur’s monstrous encounter category!
Legend has it, that those that to those who dare climb their way to the mountain top, great treasure awaits...

A monk spending his days illuminating manuscripts.
This is my 5th build for Brickscalibur and was created for the Trading Places category. I attempted to capture some of the weird perspective often seen in medieval art as this is based on a medieval painting.
This is a Brickscalibur Submission for the “Adventuring Party” category. This was put together with (left to right) Jimmy, Micah, Eli, myself, Jemima, Carter, Joel, and Hadden. Each of us brought a medieval sigfig to my house to take a group pic!
Like what you're seeing? You can win this MOC in this year’s Brickscalibur! Consider entering the collaborative Lavor of Love category and one of these goats lovebirds might just be yours!
Number 5 and 6 in this year's collection! Adding the goats to these really felt like a stretch but what's not to love about goats? Since we do have goats to give away, compromises had to be made!
Built for Brickscalibur (Medieval Micro category)
Legend spoke of a massive citadel within Enchanted Isles. Crafted from obsidian, it served as a prison for particularly dangerous inmates. One such inmate was a sorcerer. Worshipping the almighty White Wyrm, he prayed for salvation and a chance to escape the prison. His prayers were answered in spades...
2022 was a pretty quiet year for me, LEGO-wise. That being said, I was still very happy to be able to complete 2 more collabs with Isaac, as well as participate in both the CCC and Brickscalibur. Perhaps the highlight of the year though was being involved with the Symphony of Construction collaboration. Was amazing seeing and hearing what all the other collaborators had created! And my own contribution was certainly one of my most ambitious builds to date (I don't know exactly how much the finished model ended up weighing, but it was pretty difficult to pick up!)
And of course, as always, it was fantastic to help organize the Summer Joust. It might seem like it would get repetitive doing it year after year, but every time I'm amazed by the creativity and quality of the entries!
Despite not building/posting as much this past year, I do still regularly check in to see all the fantastic models you guys are posting. Hard to say if I'll be able to build more in 2023 or not, but hopefully can still get out several throughout the year.
Would love to hear if you had a favorite of my models this year :)
My participation for "Adventuring Party”– category of Brickscalibur.
Simple figbarf of an adventurer troupe with, from left to right:

- the charismatic swordsman
- the fire mage

And the little thieving goblin!

Like what you're seeing? You can win this MOC in this year’s Brickscalibur! Consider entering the Rogues and Outlaws category and this might just be yours! There's still a whole month left to enter – will you join us?
I've been enjoying these characters way too much lately to not do a Robin Hood for the Rogues and Outlaws category. I always loved the tale growing up and it is surprising I never built anything related... Well, consider that changed!
The Muppets went to Treasure Island, so why not into the Middle Ages?
Unfortunately, the filming quickly becomes a mess, can you help Miss Piggy find all her 11 friends (Kermit, Swedish Chef, Fozzie Bear, Rowlf, Waldorf, Statler, Gonzo, Animal, Beaker, Janice & Dr. Bunsen Honeydew) who have sneaked into the scene?
Disclaimer: No Beakers were harmed during the making of this MOC.
This is my entry to Brickscalibur's "Where's Waldo?" category.
Two decades ago Neil Hoffman inherited a bankrupt farm--today, he's turned it into the most successful in the countryside. His crops are the greenest, his milk is the richest, his eggs are the largest, his wine is the sweetest, his rabbits are the cutest, and his lambs are the stupidest in all the land. Also I think he has more kids than anyone else and more sacks of whatever that is behind him.
These were all very fun to put together! When I first saw the Brickscalibur category I thought it might lead to a lot of repetition, but after all there is really a lot that comes under the farming umbrella and I think I brought in one or two that no one else has done yet!

This is my entry for Brickscalibur, in the Farmstead Figures category. Really wanted to try something different with this figbarf and was super happy when I saw those new Black panther figs 😀. Hope you guys like them.
Like what you're seeing? You can win this MOC in this year’s Brickscalibur! Consider entering the Where's Waldo? category and this watchful guardian might just be yours!
The third one in this year's collection! Originally I had set out to build a medieval Waldo for this category. When that proved too difficult to pull off, an assassin seemed to make the most sense – and is there really anyone more iconic than Ezio?
Another Brickscalibur entry, couldn't really stop at one 12x12 :)
Decided to revisit a technique I used for a previous build, takes quite a few lightsabers, haha!
As the knight took the final steps and reached the top of the cliff, he was suddenly face to face with the beast that had raveged the kingdom for so long...
My entry for the Monstrous encounters over on Brickscalibur. This is by far the heaviest creature I've ever built, had to re-design the legs quite a few times to make it stabile enough to stand...Hope you all like it :) youtu.be/O6SFjSwg16E
Wally has traveled back in time and arrived at a market square in a medieval town. You have to find him to help him get on with his journey. You also need to find Wilma, Odlaw, Wizard Whitebeard, and the usual accessories in form of a camera, a bone, a parchment, a binocular and a key. Happy hunting!
Built for Brickscalibur Where's Waldo contest.
The Frozen Wilds have been uninhabitable long before he got there. Little reminds us of the golden days before the snowy cold marked his arrival. Some say he's a man, some call him a monster. Many journeys of the bravest and most fearless warriors from all kingdoms have led here - and ended.
This is my entry to Brickscalibur's "The Frozen Wilds" category.
This is my entry for the 12x12 Vignette category of this year's Brickscalibur contest.
Tolini is a merchant of oddities and rarities. Leery folks say some of his goods would not originate from planet Earth and involve black magic. He, on the other hand, considers his goods the finest curiosities available to mankind. Hence, only those who rule kingdoms, can afford to ask for a quote.
Prince Ivan Tsarevitch was alone in his castle, while his wife Princess Marya Morevna was away at war. Before she left, she told Ivan not to go to the castle dungeon located in the tallest tower of their castle. Ivans curiosity got the better of him and he decided to go into the dungeon. There he would find an emaciated old man chained to the walls. This old man would ask Ivan to bring him some water, and Ivan feeling pity for the man would do as he asked. The old man drank 12 buckets of water and freed himself from his prison. He was none other than Koschei the Deathless. Koschei would mock Ivan for being fooled so easily into freeing him. He would soon make his escape and kidnap Princess Marya. Ivan would have to set things right and find a way to defeat Koschei the Deathless.
Just a small build for the Brickscalibur Interior Architect category. I might do something bigger if time allows. I do have other ideas on the table for future builds so stay tuned!
The Duke of Glannalt is brought to the Folviken.
Abductees are always brought to the lake fortress for safe keeping until a ransom is paid. High profile persons, such as the duke, are always high stakes; sometimes our work just plays into the hands of an opportunistic usurper. But the rewards for the Wolfpack are too good to pass up.
I created this MOC for the Over water! category of the CCC XIX. I had been planning such a MOC for a while, especially after
seeing Jonas Kramm's Wolfholm. The submission was also very fitting for the Brickscalibur Rogues and Outlaws.
Check out more information and pictures on my blog post. C&C welcome.
Amicia and Hugo:
"Hugo! Where are you?"
"I'm here. I'm close."
"I can't see you! I'll do whatever it takes! I want... to see you."
"Are you sure?"
"You just keep on fighting! We tried that way, and it was a lie. It's not the right way; you know that."
"I don't know, Hugo!"
"It brought death, Amicia. And I brought death too! It's the mistake I made... and what I've become."
"I've seen you fight so many times. You still won't back down, will you, Amicia?"
"It's us or them! I have no choice!"
"You have a choice... but it scares you."
"We need to fix this Amicia!"
"We'll find a solution! I promise, Hugo!"
"You keep saying that. But there's only one solution now."
"You’re the only one who can stop me... from becoming a monster," Hugo said.
"You’re not a monster!"
"I will be…" replied the boy, "if I kill all I love."
Amicia learns what it is to sacrifice all she loves... and she kills her little brother who she loved so much, when he asks her to, because it was the only way to stop the Plague, or the Macula in the boy's blood would never cease killing... killing other people! And what was the life of one boy, to the lives of hundreds? What does the life of one child mean? And what does love mean? Did Amicia ever answer these questions?
And so Amicia slings the stone.
This is a collaboration between Joe (jnj_bricks) and I, built for the Labour of Love category of Brickscalibur. I haven't slept in a while so I should go to sleep now, but later you can see more of the terrain, more of the Rats' Nest, and maybe some behind the scenes. I'm really excited for this build! It looks awfully small, but I had to carry it down the stairs... and I know it weighed a lot! It's huge.
I have to mention that I was very inspired by Josh DeMoss's piece of music from the Symphony of Construction, I listened to it while I was building and it gave me the chills. And of course the music from A Plague Tale: Requiem. It was so beautiful, and touching, and deadly...
I have no words to describe A Plague Tale.
To God Be The Glory, and may you seek Him when you find yourself sad and troubled, like Amicia and Hugo, instead of getting lost...
I hope you like it!
Unfamiliar tunes echo through the woods of Acorn Valley, a humble bard is tresspassing but the Acorn Warriors are already alert.

In winter I built ogre and wagon for the Brickscalibur. I wasn't glad with photo and wanted to make full diorama. After Innsmouth I also wanted something more colorful.
Nobody ever visits the old farmstead down the way, or at least, nobody comes back to say what they saw.
Left to right: The forager, the old apple tree, the farmer and his wife, the scarecrow, the ox driver, and the harvestman.

My entry for the Farmstead Figures category of Brickscalibur,
Maybe not entirely historical correct but I tried to get as close as possible, also with the tools used during that period.
Thankfully Ninjago and Monkie kid have some nice torsos/legs to use, although the robe continuing on the legs make combinations of them a bit difficult.
I hope you like them.
I built a bunch of medieval execution and torture devices back in November for a school project and am showcasing a few of them here. I guess you could say this build is a part one of two, with part two coming in two years or so. Yup, this is my last build for the next two years. I'll say more in my 2021 recap that I'll post soon.
This build was quite fun and the execution methods especially were exciting to design. I'm particularly proud of my stock design and the chopping block.
This is also my entry to the Rogues & Outlaws category of Brickscalibur.
Let me know what you think and have a nice day!

McDermott's Castle was built by the Mac Diarmada dynasty in the 11th century who were the rulers of Magh Lurig in northwestern Ireland. They chose the island, now known as Castle Island, in Lough Key as it was a great strategic location. The McDermotts would eventually lose control of the island in 1586, and since then the castle fell into ruin. An architect named John Nash would try to redevelop it into a summer home, but the castle is still in ruins today.
I decided to build in micro-scale again as I thought it would be a fun challenge. I specifically wanted to try building a castle on an island and came across McDermotts Castle. I might return to micro-scale in the future outside of the medieval era.
My entry to the CCCs "micro castle" category and Brickscalibur's "medieval micro" category.
My first entry for Brickscalibur, in the Monarchaic minifig category. Decided pretty early I wanted to try with mongolian monarchs (ish) as I had seen some pics of their dresses. Never tried figbarf before so that was a really fun category Anyways, hope you like them :)
Brickscalibur may be over but while we're hard at work hammering out the results and preparing the announcement of the winners, there are still a few more trophies to unveil. Here's the one for "Medieval Micro" - look like he might have a shot at that prize himself!
While a bit more simple in appearance - the profession kind of requires it - this one was a delicate exercise in color balance. The nougat pants and those 2x4 tiles definitely saved the day!

There were very few things Alrune, Mage-Governor of Embervale, loved more than the quiet solitude of her study at dawn. The rest of the castle was, at this hour, caught up in the intricate choreography of the staff’s breakfast preparations - a swirling ballet of clattering pans and arguments about eggs.
In less than an hour, her uncle would interrupt her blissful silence, armed with the kind of unwavering politeness that would somehow make refusing breakfast feel like declaring war on her own kitchen staff. And shortly after, the village bell would ring, summoning her to listen to the endless stream of complaints, questions, and deeply inventive interpretations of Imperial Laws presented by the good people of Embervale.
But for now, it was just her, her cats, and the soothing dripping of a gelatinous cube becoming ectoplasmic distillate.

This is my entry for Brickscalibur's "Capturing Character" category.
Bonus quiz: how many cats does Alrune have?
While the plague rages outside the castle walls, the nobility have remained unscathed and are able to enjoy a day of feasting. Phillip and Joan have lived comfortable their entire lives, however with a war in the north, Phillip must leave the next day to lead his army to aid in the defense.
I built this in collaboration with Josdu for Brickscalibur’s The Rich and the Poor category. I had a lot of fun building a detailed large scale interior particularly with all the food! The title is inspired by a video game which Josiah drew inspiration from for his build.
More pictures in the first comment and album.

For Kings and commoners, the most famous and busiest tavern in all of Faldia. Not many kings have visited though, it is frequently used by the Royal Falcon Guard and the main Black Falcon army.
Today we all gathered for the event, and we have a special surprise, the Fantastic Fauns are currently playing in Faldia, at our tavern.
Please welcome them with a round of applause.
-
The Golden Crown is run by the Ryan family, who are known for their hospitality.
-
Aht and Minke (Fantasy figbarf – Whispering Woods I and IV) are still playing a board game at the window to the right.
Aht: “I can see why you wanted to return to the city, really lively here, although I’m fonder of the woods myself.”
Minke: “Yeah, when the position of captain of the Royal Falcon Guard came free, I couldn't turn it down, thanks for the recommendation Aht.”
Aht: “No problem, glad I could help you.”
-
Also to the right are two members of the trade guild discussing some new trade opportunities with Felisia, located south of Faldia.
-
On the balcony are Lord Biron and his wife, who are currently staying at the tavern, he isn’t really happy about all the noise downstairs though.
-
Many locals are also frequently visiting and get together at the tavern.

Build for Brickscalibur 2022, Trading places category.
Penitent one in silence
So sorrowful a fate.
A neverending penance
Held at the miracle's face.
Thorns sink deep in the flesh
And reveal a resting place.
The penitent's followers
Perpetuating the divine faith.
My final entry for Brickscalibur 2024, for the "perspective matters" category. Since I am currently in America, I had to make it a digital entry.
This build is inspired by Blasphemous, a gorgeous metroidvania game that really inspired me. Finishing both the first and second game in 2024 really made me want to make a hommage to this fascinating universe.

More castle characters, there might be a theme here! Loved the idea of a jester and went with a Witcher 3 Dandelion color scheme – hope you like it!
