One of my latest builds is a model of a Denver and Rio Grande Western 01400-series steel caboose. This may seem a bit outside my typical New England prototype area and that's because it is a gift for Bricknerd as part of the Railyard Telegraph Game, to go with his incredible "Queen of the Rio Grande" SD40. That particular build and others of his inspired me as I came into the hobby, so I wanted to build something to go with it. (Also to make sure he couldn't ever tear it apart! :-D )
The caboose is 7-wide, which was a challenge, and features a bunch of SNOT in the cupola, but otherwise is mostly hollow. This was on purpose in case it's ever desired to add an interior. I was also able to take advantage of multiple new parts, such as the 2x3 tiles (26603), 1x3 jumpers (34103), and the Technic pin with pin hole (15100). The trucks also feature roller bearings that actually roll! The stickers are from OKBrickWorks, who did an amazing job especially with matching the Bright Light Orange for the windows. The color scheme was certainly a fun obstacle, since I don't often build in either BLO or Light Bluish Grey and there's a limited number of parts that come in the former.
Now that it has cleared customs this build is at home in Germany!

Here's my first entry for #nerdvember2021 by #bricknerd.
A mini Lego Tumbler is flying off the rooftop of a multistory car park, like in the iconic Batman Begins chase. The vignette fits on a 12x12 studs base and it slightly below 300 parts. It contains two minifigures: one police officer below and Batman inside the Tumbler.

My entry for the Bricknerd Nerdvember contest. Because Marvin the Martian is my favorite cartoon character.
Andrea's Cybercar 🌅🚘
This past week, part two of my article "The Past, Present and Cyberpunk Future of LEGO Friends" came out on BrickNerd - which takes the new set 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and re-envisions it as a New Hashima Cube and Cyberpunk Car. I will be coming to Atlanta Brickcon in February and both the cube and car will serve as my contribution for the New Hashima display there.
I've created what I'm calling "Andrea's Cybercar" - a teal and coral roadster of the not-too-distant future. Making it was a far more difficult task compared to adapting the cube. I've never really done vehicles at this scale, in part to no affection or interest in vehicles in the first place.
My MOC’d out version pays large homage to the original designed by Wes Talbott while diverging in its own unique direction. Notably, a different profile in the front and back, while retaining some of those iconic pieces from 42639. My favorite feature is probably being able to work in the side mirrors with the D-SNOT pieces and Hose Nozzle in Coral.
The minifigure torso is a custom print gifted by Kevin Murney who got it from the Minifigure Factory at a Certified Lego Store in Hong Kong! Thank you!
Read and learn more about the creation process, history of Friends, and a review of 42639 at BrickNerd! 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion was designed by Wes Talbott and the set was provided by LEGO to BrickNerd. All thoughts and opinions in the article are my own.

Leading the haniwa charge, it’s the magically-animated clay soldier Mayumi Joutouguu! She’s been tasked by her master and creator Keiki to guard the Primate Spirit Garden from intruders, and it looks like you’ve been spotted! That seems to be happening a lot lately, huh?
A bit more experimental this time around, but it’s always fun playing around with some more unusual pieces. The display stand also turned out more elaborate than initially planned, but that’s part of the fun as well!
The Primate Spirit Garden’s design bears a striking resemblance to the real-life Mozu Tombs located in the Osaka Prefecture in Japan. Specifically, the garden is modeled after the Daisenryo Kofun, the largest of these tombs and the presumed final resting place of Emperor Nintoku, the 16th Emperor of Japan. Recreating the keyhole-shaped island in micro-scale was an interesting challenge.
Mayumi first appears as the Stage 5 boss in the 17th Touhou Project game: Wily Beast and Weakest Creature.
This is an entry for the "Small Scale" category of BrickNerd's Adorabuild contest.
Behold, the Bricknerd Headquarters, in all of its Nerdly glory! This two story modern construction features an office, extensive lego wall, in-house studio, kitchenette, wall space for plenty of movie posters, twin balconies, and a top secret Nerdly cloning chamber. (Baby Nerdly based on the design of Geneva/Kai NRG).
When this contest was announced I almost immediately came up with the name pun, (Modular & Nerdly = Nerdular), then the idea for the glasses as balconies. After that I just kind of threw stuff together till I figured out things that worked. Building a modular is a new experience for me, having never built any of the sets even, but I enjoyed this build, despite it feeling too simplistic in places. The studio area is obviously based on the classic backdrop that Tommy would appear against in the original Bricknerd content.
If you want to look at all of the interior details that I didn't have time to render a good shot of, the 3D view on mecabricks can be opened in the workshop, and the floors are easily grouped.

C&C Welcome!
This is my entry for the Festival of Mundanity’s object category
These are hair accessories scaled for human use; a functional paddle brush and two different combs along with an accessory to hold them when not in use. As for real brushes, there’s a few broken bristles, stuck hair and even some dandruff if you look closely. I say functional because I successfully used them to comb my own hair and all 3 of them held up; note that it’s not my hair and not my dandruff as those are all represented using authentic LEGO pieces. I scavenged parts from all kinds of sets and loose parts…let’s say there’s not much of the red truck left!
Had lots of fun building this and playing around with changes in stud directions. Thanks for the challenge!
Only available at the BrickNerd Store. It's still in beta, but we have a very limited number of prototype kits available
I've opened the BrickNerd Store (sort of). bricknerd.com/store/
I'll be adding more stuff as time goes on. Feedback is appreciated.
I've been wanting to build my own Nerdly from Bricknerd.com for a while now and I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. I used the standard instructions, but reworked it to fit a large ball socket inside so he can tilt forward/ backward. I also used small ball sockets from the Mixels for the wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. DSCF1521

Slightly bigger than my previous TIE. The cockpit and wings came together pretty quickly, but I had a lot of trouble with the spars. Prompted by the #bricknerd #imperialmarch25 , I finally found a solution that is simple and strong!
Sunday, April 12th 2014 Join us LIVE! I've invited a few friends over and we're going to build the LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler!
As a child, I followed the adventures of these three characters and worried about their survival in the middle of the ocean.
This creation is a nod to Hergé's work, which, like Lego, was a joyful companion in my early years. This is also my entry for Bricknerd's Nerdvember 2023 contest, the theme of which is survivors... Many thanks Bricknerd for this contest.
For the group on MOCpages.
Due to BrickPop being inactive we decided to switch it with another blog. We decided to replace it with BrickNerd.
A detailed recreation of the original Star Tours vehicle, complete with RX-24 pilot, Star Tours crew member, glow-in-the-dark headlights, maintenance hatches, simultaneously opening doors, and a slot for an iPod Touch to serve as the screen so that it can actually play the ride video!
Built for the vehicles category in Bricknerd's Imperial March contest.
Andrea's Cyber Boutique 🌅🏡
Back in December, I got an advance review copy of 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and published two articles on BrickNerd in January doing a review and remix of the set turning it into a New Hashima cube. While I completed enough of my cube for the articles at the time, I still had a lot of work to do before it was show ready. I put on the finishing touches with not a moment to lose and displayed it at Atlanta Brick Con in February.
My MOC’d out version pays large homage to the original designed by Wes Talbott while diverging in its own unique direction. Components like the palm trees, the koi pond, the gradient, the ribbed wall look, and a lot of the subcomponents are directly lifted (the piano, the couch, the table and chairs). Playing with the new reddish orange was so fun and I really enjoyed recreating the minidolls in minifigure form. I'll be posting more detail shots on Thursday.

Falcon Falcon FALCON! Quick, fun build for the #imperialmarch25 contest hosted by #bricknerd. Makes for a neat desk toy
Andor is (IMO) the best thing that happened to Star Wars in years… so, this is where I went to search for ideas when trying to come up with a model that would not be a repeat of something that has been done a million time before. (Seriously, building anything original in the Star Wars universe is near-impossible)
Anyway, this unremarkable hunk of junk of a speeder is featured for about 20 seconds in the episode 3 of Andor season 1… it is cleverly used as a decoy before being blown to bits by Cassian and Luthen as they flee the imperials on planet Ferrix. A great scene.
This build was also the opportunity for me to use my heavily discolored grey bricks… I love doing that, some of these elements are easily 35 years old… And I think they look great in this context!

This is my third and final entry in the Imperial March contest over on Bricknerd, category 2 Epic ships and vehicles.
My first entry for the "Build a Nerdly" contest by BrickNerd. Since BrickNerd is a portal to everything LEGO, what could possibly be a better nerdly than a weighted companion nerdly?
A little size comparison for the daily render today. Bricknerd was generous enough to send me his RS3 so I could pair it with my Lakawanna render. This render shows the size and other differences between our RS3s.
7-wide is pretty sweet. Thanks again Bricknerd.
I knew we should have got the bigger truck, and where's all these people that said they would help me move?
Tommy handed me one of his Nerdly bricks during BrickCon and I soon came up with the Pirate BrickNerd and then created this small scene.
Seeing bricknerd's Lakawanna RS3 inspired me to revisit my own RS3. I started on a 2nd version of my RS3 a while back, but got stuck on a few spots. Seeing bricknerd's version helped me work out the bugs and now I like how it's turned out. Thanks Bricknerd! I'm in need of a powered L&N unit as most of the old ones have met the brick separator.
