Again. Thank you bricknerd. I have never been quite content with the cab on this, and you have solved it. Now I just have to order parts ;)

Ironicly, I had just taken 1206 out of my WIP folder on my computer yesterday. back in it goes!

I built a midi-scale Stinger Mantis for the 'Imperial March'-contest on BrickNerd.

One of my favourite ships in the galaxy!

It also has a play feature: the wings are movable - either together in flight configuration or separately for landing.

Very swooshable!!

A perfectly swooshable sky schooner captained by a ruthless cyborg dog. Armed to the teeth with modern weaponry, like plasma cannons and flintlock lasers. Everything is powered by the massive solar sails that propels the ship to oncoming prey.

You never know what you'll find when you hear music in the woods.

And done! Well. Mostly. I know that not a lot of the parts exist in the colors, but it still looks pretty good, I think

What I'm after I used Bricknerd's method for the striping behind the cab and on the nose.

The way the stripe worked into the bump out made for an interesting challenge. I think that it would work in real life, but The back (bottom) of the 1x2 cheese slope sticks into the bump out by half a plate, but I think that the space between the handle and the slope is enough to push it over and leave space. Maybe. But they're practically all invalid parts anyway...Ah well. Back to the drawing board :P

I built a piano a few weeks back. I was inspired by the LEGO Dacta Typesetters tiles, which I used as keys. I wrote an article about for BrickNerd.

Built for the 5th round of the Rogue Olympics and for BrickNerd's Adorabuild contest: Sweet Scenes. 101 parts used.

Andrea's Cyber Boutique 🌅🏡

Back in December, I got an advance review copy of 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and published two articles on BrickNerd in January doing a review and remix of the set turning it into a New Hashima cube. While I completed enough of my cube for the articles at the time, I still had a lot of work to do before it was show ready. I put on the finishing touches with not a moment to lose and displayed it at Atlanta Brick Con in February.

My MOC’d out version pays large homage to the original designed by Wes Talbott while diverging in its own unique direction. Components like the palm trees, the koi pond, the gradient, the ribbed wall look, and a lot of the subcomponents are directly lifted (the piano, the couch, the table and chairs). Playing with the new reddish orange was so fun and I really enjoyed recreating the minidolls in minifigure form. I'll be posting more detail shots on Thursday.

Slightly bigger than my previous TIE. The cockpit and wings came together pretty quickly, but I had a lot of trouble with the spars. Prompted by the #bricknerd #imperialmarch25 , I finally found a solution that is simple and strong!

Animation is my passion, so when BrickNerd announced that this would be the theme for this year's Nerdvember contest, I was thrilled! So I decided to make a tribute to one of the biggest icons in animation: PIXAR! But instead of simply building Nerdly as a Pixar character, I decided to go with something more unconventional: an animated recreation of the iconic Pixar logo animation - BrickNerd style! I took a digital stop motion approach to the animation process by building each frame in Bricklink Studio and rendering it. It took 141 unique frames and about a day of rendering to complete. I built 16 versions of Nerdly with different poses and expressions to bring BrickNerd's mascot to life using the squash and stretch principle that every animation student learns in their first class when they have to animate a bouncing ball or cube. You can also find the video on YouTube where you can watch it at a slower speed or even frame by frame to see how I used these different builds to make them move: youtu.be/1t7l315okOo

Andrea's Cybercar 🌅🚘

This past week, part two of my article "The Past, Present and Cyberpunk Future of LEGO Friends" came out on BrickNerd - which takes the new set 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and re-envisions it as a New Hashima Cube and Cyberpunk Car. I will be coming to Atlanta Brickcon in February and both the cube and car will serve as my contribution for the New Hashima display there.

I've created what I'm calling "Andrea's Cybercar" - a teal and coral roadster of the not-too-distant future. Making it was a far more difficult task compared to adapting the cube. I've never really done vehicles at this scale, in part to no affection or interest in vehicles in the first place.

My MOC’d out version pays large homage to the original designed by Wes Talbott while diverging in its own unique direction. Notably, a different profile in the front and back, while retaining some of those iconic pieces from 42639. My favorite feature is probably being able to work in the side mirrors with the D-SNOT pieces and Hose Nozzle in Coral.

The minifigure torso is a custom print gifted by Kevin Murney who got it from the Minifigure Factory at a Certified Lego Store in Hong Kong! Thank you!

Read and learn more about the creation process, history of Friends, and a review of 42639 at BrickNerd! 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion was designed by Wes Talbott and the set was provided by LEGO to BrickNerd. All thoughts and opinions in the article are my own.

Built for BrickNerd's Nerdvember's Survivor edition contest. Go with the most amazing survival story on or off this planet, Apollo 13! Had a hard time thinking this one up, it may have come to me just before Ken Mattingly died earlier this month (he was prime crew for 13 until bumped for measles's exposure). But his death may have been part of the inspiration, memory is fuzzy, Then when Frank Borman passed a few days later definitely solidified the choice.
