Raspberry passion and ginger tea bags. I love the way the brewing red tea bleeds down from the raspberry tea bags.

After years of not having one, I finally got another vacuum coffee pot.
You get a nice, crisp brew out of this, since (a) the coffee isn't overheated, it's exposed to hot water and some vapor, but never full boiling, and (b) the vacuum filter process gets good extraction from the grounds.
I always feel like a mad scientist using one of these.

One day old 'bourbon' takes like "corn cereal" you can "taste the sweetness, go ahead, put your fingers in it and try it".
I know alcohol is self sterilizing, but I don't want to know that every tourist is sticking their grubby paws in the bourbon.
and yes, I tried it. The "sweetness" they spoke of was too refined for my must be too clutzy pallet.

Brews & Bubbles is a Greensboro Science Center fundraiser featuring great food and music, an awesome atmosphere, and samples of beer, wine and hard cider.
This is my take from the night, about a case and a half of good pumpkin brew. Tom grabbed about the same amount.
Summer Fruit Cider Trial
Today I bottling an experimental batch of cider. The plan is to put the bottles in a warm place for two weeks to allow secondary fermentation to take place.

It's warm and Jasper likes anywhere that is warm. Even better if he can be in somebody's way. Mission accomplished. 7 AM Pale Ale brew day.
Wednesday 9pm, day 2.
Whooa! At some point between last night & this morning the juice produced a lot of froth. It appears it didn't quite reach the airlock and has died down a bit now.
The airlock is bubbling happily and the expelled gas does NOT smell of rhino farts or anything else unpleasant... just of apples. This would seem to add weight to the theory that the cause of the bad H2S smell often reported during early fermentation is down to the choice of yeast.
The juice itself is now looking rather cloudy.
I read an article in the TImes the other day about big brewing companies, like Budweiser's sales in a huge decline. I think I know why this stuff is real good. There out of Burlington, VT and brew some of the best beer I have had. If your ever in Burlington take the tour and pick up a growler like this one of #9 it won't dissapoint.
