Brewing a Trappistes Rochefort 10 clone (calling it "1st and 10" because we brewed it on Super Bowl Sunday) - such a large grain bill that we needed 2 mash tuns.
Here Dave and Kristopher are adding the hot water to the grains, prior to beginning the hour long mash.

So many almost-awesome things this weekend, but also so many really good things.
Like... showing up to this bar wearing a Phillies cap and finding out that Rhys Hoskins was actually there an hour before. BUT then immediately getting the best nitro cold brew I've ever tasted, for only $2.50.
Or ALMOST going to a Canine Carnival full of costumed dogs BUT putting an old tank top of Deanna's on Beignet instead.
Or ALMOST eating at Snooz but being driven away by a stomach that protested against an hour wait time BUT getting bagels and good quality time with Ben and Rachel.
Or ALMOST getting a picture with Daniel but forgetting my camera BUT getting to hang anyways while the Astros won the pennant.
Almost a good weekend but still a good weekend.

Very Good
Compared to the hop monster IPA's, this may come across as some rather weak. But it's truly a delicious IPA (or as they recently 're-thought' the nomenclature, an "APA"). I first discovered this beer when Grand Teton were calling it there IPA and it made me a fan regardless of it's identity problem. It's certainly more tasty than say something like Racer 5. It is well made, aromatic and balanced. Very impressive. For someone wanting to slowly approach the bitter world of IPA's I would offer this beer or Coronado Brewing's equally wonderful Islander IPA as an excellent gateway beer into the style.
