tending to our various steaming kettles. Sicne we can only steam 20 lbs of rice in one kettle, we have 4 going at once.
Brews & Bubbles is a Greensboro Science Center fundraiser featuring great food and music, an awesome atmosphere, and samples of beer, wine and hard cider.
After we put Max to bed and give him his treat, I get ready for bed - and have my treat. So relaxing - and it's only half-caff.

My second event was a ticket raffle at Brew Werks offered by U93 the radio station. They were raffling tickets to go see the Chainsmokers. I decided to go with my friends to see if we would win. A good amount of people showed up. One ticket was picked every thirteen minutes and the winner got two tickets. At the end, for those who stayed, additional tickets were being offered to those who won a dance off.
I used my iPhone 6 to take this photo. The aperture was f/2.2 and the shutter speed was 1/60. The ISO was 40.
The natural sunlight allowed me to take this photo. I decided to take it from this angle because you can see all or most of the people that attended and were waiting for their nae to be called. You can also see the name of the place and some context as to where it is.
It has depth because you can see who is at the front and who is at the back. You can see that the area is medium sized outside a restaurant. There is the law of interposition. There is a lot of red, warm color. This makes the photo stand out more. I would say there is a stable virtual weight. There are equal amount of people on either side of the photo.
Gestalt theory can also be applied here. It is hard to tell who at each table is related to each other or know each other because they are scattered. In the background you can tell that the people at the table standing up are in the same group. You can infer that they are the people in charge of the ticket raffle.
Cognitive theory wise there is some nervousness as people wait for the name to be called. You would expect the people to be excited but they seen somewhat calm and nervous. From the words on the boards you can tell this photo was taken at Brew Werks in South Bend and in next to a place that is for sale.
There is not much symbolism here. The red can symbolize the anxiousness as people wait and possibly some anger from those who did not get their name called out. The poster on the table is symbolizing what the event is.
When West Sixth Brewing finally found a suitable home at the old Rainbo Bread Company building, the owners decided to lease the rest of the large space to local non-profits and small businesses. The complex became known as The Bread Box and West Sixth has been rising ever since. Kentucky drinkers can now find dozens of their beers (in cans and bottles + on draft) that can be consumed at the brewery in Lexington, in the taproom in Louisville, and on the farm in Frankfurt. If they happen to visit the brewery on the first Saturday of each month, then 6% of their sales will even go to a local non-profit through the Sixth for a Cause program.

A 1915 view of the Widman Brewing Co. in Bethlehem, PA executed by Wagner in 1897. Nothing remains of the buildings but the lagering vaults in the adjacent hillside have been sealed off.

White Christmas?
We made it home just in time before a pelting of soft hail, the temperatures too warm still for snow, but this may change during the night.
Great Lakes Brewing Company (www.greatlakesbrewing.com) is most famous for its Christmas Ale, which seems to get more popular each year. Brewed with honey, it gets its spicy flavor from ginger and cinnamon. Available for only eight weeks, it’s not only the top-selling brand of craft/import beers in Cleveland but also in the state. And it has won gold medals at the Beverage Tasting Institute’s World Beer Championships.
I am brewing 5 gallons of India Pale Ale in my dresser cabinet, I figured beer was more important that organization!
The dark storm clouds begin to roll overhead. The high contrast in the cloudscapes was ominous.
