The Vermillion Flycatcher is so bright red and contrasting Black, really tough to click, today was cloudy so helped in some ways from making the Reds too Red...

This is similar to a shot I posted a few weeks ago, but I thought this bird was work another look.

Hunting a marshy area from his perch. They seem to enjoy amphibians the most of all hawks I know. Buteo lineatus at Brazos Bend State Park, Southeast Texas

Snowy egrets are pretty common, but to me always worth a look. Their appearance is elegant, and their behavior is animated. Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas 1/2024.

I don't like to photograph dark water birds in bright overcast conditions because of the bright reflections, but I don't often have a grebe with a crawfish swim up to me. They usually go the other direction after they catch something.

This bird was probably a few months old when photographed. Just about everything was early this spring.

Great Horned Owlet at Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. A second owlet is peeking between the front bird and the tree. I took a lot of pictures over two visits, but failed to get the nice shot of the two birds side by side with their eyes open. Regardless, it was a real treat to see and photograph these birds. 3/2019

This guy landed right in front of me while I was waiting for grebes to come closer (they didn't). Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. 7/2018

Mamma great horned owl and her owlet. This was a few weeks ago. Since this was taken, the owlet has grown a lot and most of the nest has come down in the wind. As far as I known the owlet is doing great.

As always, your comments and faves are appreciated. Constructive criticism and suggestions are especially welcome as I believe they help to make me a better photographer. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photos.

Last night's eclipse was awesome! The sky was clear and the moon gave us a great show overhead, so I made this composite photo from my experience at the observatory.

This is a composite from the night work using two cameras. The telescope from the observatory was taken with my Nikon D600 with a Nikon 24-70 at 28mm, while the moon photos were taken with my Nikon D7000 using a rented Nikon 80-400 at 400mm; then I scaled the moons to only 40% of the full size.

Hope you like it :)

This is the same bird shown in my previous post. The current image was made about an hour later in the morning, while the bird perched in a small tree overlooking the field (actually dried-out pond). Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. - 10/2022
