Took this shot 40 Acre Lake, Brazos Bend. This little guy was out early to catch some sun!

I'm pretty sure the only birds in Brazos Bend State Park are Cardinals and some smaller brownish birds (possibly female Cardinals).

Took a weeks vacation to visit south Texas and do a little wildlife hunting..My main goal was to photograph a few birds and get some Gator pics. I wasn't disappointed. We found alligators in quite a few different places but by far the most alligators we found was at Brazos Bend State Park. This a very scenic area with a lot of alligators. You just have to look very careful because they fit in their environment quite well. This is a very swampy area with plenty of cover.

After not going for a long time, I decided to go on one of Dr. Laszlo's photo-walks again. So many things (about photography) I've forgotten. So many things I still don't know. And here I was getting smug and cocky-like.

I stopped going because the big group (I thought) slowed me down from taking the shots (I thought) I wanted to make. I stopped listening to the teacher. That was really stupid of me.

Thanks so much, Carol and Killy, for such an awesome breakfast and good time.

Resting in the sun near the safety of the water.

December 6th was "Simple Christmas" at BBSP. Hayrides, s'mores, dutch oven cooking, and even a visit from Santa Claus. After all the fun at the nature center, kids took the the trails on their bikes. The alligators and most wildlife took to the islands in the middle of the lakes!

He showed me his own shot of these dangling leaves on his lcd. I went, wow! He stepped aside to let me shoot it. I said, but the sun is right there (directly behind it)! What do I meter for? He sighed, well... it's difficult. Do you want your blacks to be prominent? He mumbled a few more things about experimenting... try over/under-exposing a few stops. I nodded. I got it. I get like that when I'm trying to explain a process to someone... a process, that, by all accounts, should be a personal choice. Not a true step-by-step thing you follow. Something you need to decide on your own.
