Shrubby border near the law school at Seattle University. The large leaves in the front are a banana canna.
Took part in the 2nd cross border run from Gretna to Carlisle, it was a very hot one indeed . Thanks to Rob Westgarth for asking me to run for the Carlisle Audi team and also Julie Tiffen who made up our 3 man/woman team.
A great effort from everyone today..

The border checkpoint Alpha near Helmstedt was the largest and most important border crossing on the Inner German border during the division of Germany. Due to its geographical location, the shortest land route between West Germany and West Berlin, most transit traffic to and from West Berlin was handled by this crossing. Most travel routes from West Germany to East Germany and Poland also used this crossing. The border crossing existed from 1945 to 1990
ITV Border's Sandy McCracken arrived at the cottage with cameraman Paul yesterday to film a short piece for the ITV programme "Border Life". The sun shone brightly and the Cruck Cottage looked fantastic following the recent repairs carried out to the thatched roof and having been freshly lime washed by our army of community volunteers.
Once again local residents came along to help us make this another "special" occasion, becoming the audience for the day. Interviews were given by Michael, Willie and Bill Lawson providing an insight into the Cruck Cottages past, present and future - they were excellent.
Our thanks to all those who once again gave their time to help us - it is, as always, greatly appreciated!
No the quilt does not have a weird brown stain on it / there was just weird lighting in here.
I was just going to freehand the braids but in the midst of hunting for something else, I came across a roll of Borders Made Easy I'd forgotten I had so I went ahead and used that.

This rainbow greets weary travelers as they cross into China from Mongolia. Unfortunately this was the only photograph I was able to take at the time. I was suddenly gripped by a fever and it required a great deal of effort to be in a standing position. Unfortunately for me, we were forced to disembark at the Chinese border town to go through passport control. While in line everything went dark in front of my eyes and I barely managed to drop my backpack and other baggage before collapsing in line. Lucky for me I was helped by a Frenchman I met in Mongolia. He held me up until they stamped my passport and stayed with me until I got better. Surprisingly they did not quarantine me, although I was the only person on the entire train with an American passport.

This is my pal Oscar. He's way to smart for his own good, loves causing trouble and is an amazing friend. Playing around with animal photography And learnt very quickly that it's capturing the animals personality that counts
On September 9, 2010, Congresswoman Giffords met with National Guard troops who have volunteered to patrol the Arizona-Mexico border.
Giffords, who long has called for the deployment of Guard troops to Arizona, visited with soldiers training in Tucson and then saw them fulfill their mission on the border in Nogales. She was the first elected official from Arizona to meet with the newly deployed troops.
During her visit, she met with the assistant adjutant general-air of the Arizona National Guard and several hundred Guardsmen who are being trained at a Tucson facility for their border security mission, which is named Operation Copper Cactus.

Sa Pa District is located in Lao Cai Province, north-west Vietnam, and 350 km north-west of Hanoi, close to the border with China. The Hoang Lien Son range of mountains dominates the district, which is at the eastern extremity of the Himalayas. This range includes Vietnam's highest mountain, Fan Si Pan, at a height of 3142m above sea level. The town of Sa Pa lies at an altitude of about 1650 m.
Sa Pa is a quiet mountain town and home to a great diversity of ethnic minority peoples. The total population of 36,000 consists mostly of minority groups. Besides the Kinh (Viet) people, there are mainly 5 ethnic groups in Sapa: Hmong, Dao, Tay, Giay and a small number of Xa Pho. Approximately 7,000 live in Sapa, the other 36,000 being scattered in small communes throughout the district.
The geographical location of the area makes it a truly unique place for many interesting plants and animals, allowing it to support many inhabitants. Many very rare or even endemic species have been recorded in the region.
Sa Pa townhall
The scenery of the Sa Pa region in large part reflects the relationship between the minority people and nature. This is seen especially in the paddy fields carpeting the rolling lower slopes of the Hoang Lien Mountains. The impressive physical landscape which underlies this has resulted from the work of the elements over thousands of years, wearing away the underlying rock. On a clear day, the imposing peak of Fan Si Pan comes into view. The last major peak in the Himalayan chain, Fan Si Pan offers a real challenge to even the keenest walker, the opportunity of staggering views, and a rare glimpse of some of the last remaining primary rain forest in Vietnam.
Geology, climate and human activity have combined to produce a range of very distinct habitats around Sa Pa. Especially important is Sa Pa’s geographic position, at the convergence of the worlds 14 “biomes” (distinct biographic areas), producing an assemblage of plant and animal species unique in the world.
