Royal Border Bridge spans the River Tweed between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tweedmouth in Northumberland, England. It is a Grade I listed railway viaduct built between 1847 and 1850, when it was opened by Queen Victoria. The engineer who designed it was the famous Robert Stephenson (son of George Stephenson). It was built for the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway and is still in regular use today, as part of the East Coast Main Line.

The bridge is 659 metres long. It has 28 arches, constructed of brick but aesthetically faced with stone. The bridge is 38 metres above the river itself.[1] In the 1990s it underwent significant repair work for the first time, in a Railtrack project with some funding from English Heritage.

We found a BT in France! You can imagine the hilarity of me trying to ask the woman who owned the BT if she hand-stripped the dog—anyone know the French words for that?

Regardless, we got the message across and the answer is no—he's been clipped on his back.

Oh, and Border Terrier in French is Border Terrier (avec une accent).

I miss Borders on Broadway in Uptown, and have fond memories of the CD listening station and perusing art books upstairs.

This location was closed in the beginning of April 2011.

I adjusted the pattern a bit. It was originally made for a ribbon to be weaved through along the edges, but I knew that'd be high maintenance for a new mom when it came time to wash it. So I changed the double crochets in the border to half-doubles.

This is the border, some iron gates. A Buddhist monk is about to cross between the lands, yet probably without any reflection that these are two vastly different countries.

The stained glass panels of the great south window at Canterbury Cathedral were removed for the duration of urgent repairs to the supporting stonework and thus many could be exhibited at ground level from where they could be appreciated in far more detail than in their normal lofty settings.

The principal elements of the window are the figures of the Ancestors of Christ, a superb sequence from the late 12th century that originally filled the clerestorey windows of the eastern arm of the cathedral, but were removed in the 18th century and collected together in the great south and west windows to replace glass lost in the Civil War period. In some cases their original ornamental surrounds remained in situ in the choir clerestorey and copies of the moved figures have been reinstated there.

Most of the figures were displayed from May to August 2015 in the cathedral's chapter house in a manner closer to their original setting, with the Ancestors shown in pairs surrounded by rich borders. This was a unique opportunity to show them as the original artists intended and also for visitors to get closer to them than ever before.

The original 15th century glass of the great south window of the transept has for most part not survived and we can only guess at its original subject matter. The window was filled instead in the 18th century with late 12th century glass depicting the Ancestors of Christ, relocated here from the choir clerestorey (where copies may now be seen in their original locations). Further figures were reinstalled in the lower half of the west window, whilst a few original figures remain in situ in the choir.

The stonework of the great south window has been under repair for a few years and many of the 12th century panels have been exhibited at ground level for a short time in Canterbury and even abroad. Currently they are in the process of being reinstalled back in the transept.
