As of sometime soon, this company won't exist at all anymore. This store at North & Clybourn closed some time ago.

It's Interesting that the fence has a gap here. The canyon must be too rugged for viehicles.

Yep, we crossed the border on foot. There were signs directing hikers to proceed directly to Goat Haunt (4.5 miles away) to go through customs. When we got there, it was just two border patrol officers sitting at a picnic table checking passports.

Mist 'treadin' water .. quite a long way out I might add.

Annecy is a picturesque town in eastern France near the Swiss border. It is like a miniature Venice with lovely canals, a great climate and restaurants, parks and a great big lake for recreation. It is rimmed by mountains of the French Alps to the east.

Added some borders to bring my 12" block up to pillow size... might keep going and make it even bigger (around 20" now).

Blogged here.

Troubling Borders | Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora

June 30 - October 07, 2012

Closing Reception & Readings: October 6, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Closing Conference: October 7, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora: Troubling Borders in Literature and Art is an exhibition and conference featuring the writings and artwork of Southeast Asian women in the diaspora, highlighting women of Cambodian, Laotian, Filipino and Vietnamese descent and by women who identify as the often stateless Mien, Hmong, and Cham. In the aftermath of the cold war, many of these women now reside in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and other parts of the world. As an incredibly diverse group, their voices make visible the ruptures caused by colonization, war, globalization, and militarization.

The sign for Border Jerk. They had awesome jerk chicken. They also had some jerk pork, we should have tried that too.

Smailholm Tower is a peel tower at Smailholm, around five miles (8 km) west of Kelso in the Scottish Borders. Its dramatic situation, atop a crag of Lady Hill, commands wide views over the surrounding countryside. The tower is located at grid reference NT637346, just west of Sandyknowe farm, and is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument in the care of Historic Scotland. In June 2007 it was awarded the maximum "five-star" status as a tourist attraction from VisitScotland, a rating bestowed on only eight other sites in Scotland.
