in the border zone no man's land between the divided North and South of Nicosia, the only divided city in Europe.

Part of the wonderful herbaceous border at Arley - taken with the macro lens, as I happened to have it on the camera at the time.

This was taken November of 2007, it seemed very odd that on such a crystal clear morning while driving along the border, my uncle noticed a thick smoke emanating from the fence. To the north of the fence the air was crystal clear, and to the south more than 100' from the fence it was crystal clear, but all along the fence was a dense, toxic, smoke.
Took part in the 2nd cross border run from Gretna to Carlisle, it was a very hot one indeed . Thanks to Rob Westgarth for asking me to run for the Carlisle Audi team and also Julie Tiffen who made up our 3 man/woman team.
A great effort from everyone today..
