Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Blessing of the images of baby Jesus on the Feast of Candelaria (Candlemas) at the Basilica de la Virgen de la Soledad, Oaxaca.
In this short blessing ceremony, a monk sprays some water on a person kneeling before him then ties a piece of twine from the pile onto his or her wrist.
Autumn blows in on a cool, crisp breeze
Creating a quilt of fallen leaves.
A glorious patchwork of red, yellow and gold-
Gently spread out to warm the soul.
The tinkling of chimes, warm apple cider,
Pumpkins and spice, a crackling fire...
Potpourri simmering, marshmallows toasting,
Baskets of apples, corn roasting...
Deer grazing, squirrels scampering around...
Pine cones and acorns covering the ground.
These are the things that bring bushels of pleasure.
Autumn is truly a blessing to treasure!

There are two categories of Buddhist monks in Thailand.
One comprises those who become monks for long periods, sometimes for life, and the other those who enter the Order temporarily. To serve in the monkhood even for a short period is considered a great merit-earning attainment by the Thai Buddhists. Even kings follow this age-old custom.
Government officials are allowed leave with full pay for a period of four months in order to serve in monkhood. The idea is to enable young men to gain knowledge of Buddhism and thereby to become good citizens. Life as a monk gives them practical experience of how an ideal Buddhist life should be. In rural districts the general tendency is still to give more deference to those who have already served in monkhood. Such people are supposed to be more "mature" than those who have not undergone the monk's life.
Moreover, in Thailand wats (monasteries and temples) used to be and are still regarded as seats of learning where all men, irrespective of life's position, could go and avail themselves of education benefits. This is especially so in the case of economically handicapped males of the countryside. Instances are not lacking in which people have climbed high up on life's status ladder after obtaining education while in monkhood. There are neither religious restrictions nor social disapproval against monks' returning to lay life if and when they find themselves unable to discharge their duties as monks.
My school, St. Bonaventure University, offers a semesterly "Blessing of the Brains" before finals week, bringing together the campus community for faith, fellowship, and much-needed stress relief. Good luck to all of my friends taking finals and may peace be with all of you.

Blessing of the building by members of the Squamish Nation.
Members of the Gibsons community and the Squamish and Sechelt First Nations joined VCH staff members on Thursday October 18, 2012 to officially open Sumac Place.
CAMERA-NIKON SLR.That was just at 7 AM while i was passing through underneith bamboo trees the place was very dark and the sun rayes were passing as if the blessing of GOD.
This is painting 7, project 1. I listened to the "Blessing Nigun" by Giora Feidman as I was painting it. It's a lovely clarinet melody. I was taught a sacred dance to this music. I was trying to paint our dance circle. Hear it below:

Standing in a circle
We each hold a votive candle in our left hand
Our right hand underneath the left hand of the
person to our right, their light shining
Symbolizing each person is supported by and
supporting another
Each person seeing their light reflected in the hearts
of everyone else
is what they call it, the two students, Catherine Sawyers and Halley Martin, at the High School who initiated and run this project:
“The Blessing Box is for anyone who is hungry,” explained Sawyers. “It’s for the hungry and homeless in Mount Airy.”
>>Blessing Boxes, which have been popping up across the country, are similar to the Little Free Libraries promoting reading, also small structures where the public is invited to take a book/share a book. Instead of food for the mind in the form of the printed word, a Blessing Box provides nourishment for one’s physical well-being. <<
And here the text on the box reads,: “Take what you need — leave what you can.”
Both Sawyers and Martin are officers with their school’s Interact Club, a student-led group that provides youths with opportunities to organize community service projects in addition to participating in international service projects.
The two mobilized club members and other classmates to develop the Blessing Box, which required finding a space at Mount Airy High to store food for gradual placement in the box. Local businessman Burke Robertson donated shelves for the small room identified.
The program has been running for several months now. What a wonderful service project by the students at the school!

Retread Thursday brings sad and grateful feelings today.
I got this one owner 70K mile Bonneville SSE in 2005 for $1800.00 . Just liked the style and ride of it. Kept it in the garage most of the time. On a Sunday night in June 2006 I was going to ride the bike to work but at the last minute I decided to take the car. A drunk driver in a stolen van ran a red light and I could not avoid the impact. Just fractions of a second and I shutter to think of what a direct hit would have meant. More than that I am blessed that I didn't ride the bike that evening. How many times have I been blessed and didn't even know it. Thank God for those blessings and those to follow!

I wouldn't normally post photos of weddings I've shot, let alone images that take place in a church, but this one is pretty weird and kind of great, if I do say so...
