This is a piece that I just finished. I traded it for a quilted purse from a very talented quilt artist friend. The quote is an Irish blessing that she requested.

This was done with a pointed brush, sumi ink and Dr. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolors on Arches Text Wove. I used a rainbow palette because these are the colors that make up light. :-)

Alvise Vivarini, c. 1442-c. 1503

Christ Blessing, 1498

Oil on panel

cm 52 x 37

This painting was clearly painted for private devotion. The style represents a later, more advanced stage of Alvise Vivarini’s career. Behind the head of the Redeemer, you see light strokes, which create a kind of halo that characterises the face of Christ.

May your blessings outnumber

The shamrocks that grow.

And may trouble avoid you

Wherever you go.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This was taken on a frosty Saturday morning when the sun made a wonderful appearance…it's been missing pretty much ever since. The weather has been wet and dreary, the girls are hoping for snow…so am I.

I told my husband I was going to need a hovercraft soon because I'm tired of wading through mud to do chores :-) I was getting rather frustrated this morning slopping through all that mud pushing my wheelbarrow of hay but had to apologize to the Lord for my bad attitude. Even in the muddy slop I can rejoice at the fact that I am able to be tromping through all that mud pushing my wheelbarrow and that He has given me a new day…a day to live for him in whatever crosses my path whether that be mud and slop or challenges with my kids or just life in general.

I've been convicted lately that somehow in the midst of whatever struggles come my way, I must still rejoice and find peace in the day that I have been given. Of course working this out is a daily challenge :-) But life is good and ultimately God is good, he is my source of strength. It's when I rely on my own strength that life becomes that much more difficult.

I have been blessed richly in this life. Even to catch the glimpse of the sun on a mostly dreary day is a huge blessing. The question is do I focus on the glimpse of the sun or the dreariness of the day…that is what makes the difference in any given day. Where does my heart lie…in what I have or what I don't have…

"Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare."

~ Psalm 40:5 ~

And you can't have it!

For some reason this brings back fun memories of sling shots...hmmm...lets see...you sling....rocks, marbles, toys, candy..my fave, marshmellows...only because thats the only thing you can get away with without getting yelled at.

Have a great "rest of the week"! Blessing, Andrea

May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.

May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.

May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's blue,

and may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.

Lesson #502 : Don't try and shoot straight up above your head, in a huge crowd of people! At least don't try and walk with the balloon anyway..lol. I needed a spotter or someone to hang onto me and keep me from running into people..lol.

Have a great weekend! Andrea

My belief is that mother's love & blessing are inevitable for the success in your life. The role of motherhood is beyond just fulfilling biological responsibilities or parental obligations. Mother's love surpasses all logic.

My mother never expressed love or affection throughout her life. There were times when I really wished she had just touched me, consoled me or blessed me which could've transformed my life. During her last days in the cancer ward, I saw those staring eyes getting wet for a moment, or perhaps I was dreaming about it ?!

A Childs prayer;

Now I lay me down to sleep, I left Santa some cookies and milk to drink. I thank the Lord for all the things, for mom and dad and my siblings. I pray for peace and good will towards all, I thank you Lord for things big and small. I sit here on my bended knees thanking you God for Christmas trees and all the things I love so dear, even my sister who’s a pain in the rear. I pray blessings over my family good tidings and cheer throughout the new year. I also pray for those less fortunate than I for all the kids both near and far let them know how special they are. I thank you God for all you have done you gave us the best gift when you gave us your son, and helping show us our way to our eternity, he was sent to us from up above to show and teach us about your love. I could go on and on you see but I have to go to sleep so Santa can bring me my woody, til then God bless all of my family and friends and hold them close watch over them always and keep them safe, I pray this all in your name.

Amen

We are blessed by this rain in California giving some relief to the drought.

“For God, the living God, I thirst, like dew upon the fleece come down, like rain upon the desert sand, like light into a darkened room. As parched earth breaks for need of rain so my heart breaks but not in vain. When wilt thou on my vision burst? For thee my living God I thirst.” – hymn, Sicut Cervus, Sister Frances Clare

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields! (Excerpt Old Irish Blessing)

I salute you. ..

There is nothing I can give you which you have not. But there is much,

very much, that, while I cannot give it, you can take. No heaven can

come to us unless our hearts find rest in it today. Take heaven!

No peace lies in the future which is not hidden in this present little instant.

Take peace! The gloom of the world is but a shadow. Behind it, yet within

our reach, is joy...

Week 14.

Challenge: Blessings.

Now, I'm not religious, but I still wanted to take this challenge on.

For those of you who don't know who this little face is, this here is Scoota and to me I am blessed to have him in my life. He is a rescue and came to me after my cat of 17 years died. He has a great personality, is a crazy, fun-loving animal and he helped me get through that loss. I think I am very blessed to have him in my life.

This card was already prepared.. it missed one thing and had to wait three days before I could post it.. the new Swirly Vine stamp! My winnings from January arrived today, so I could finish my card.

I had just pictured how it would look on this paper and I really love this stamp. Thank you Hero Arts!

I punched out six circles on corresponding paper for each side of the card and attached in one go with a strip of double sided tape.

I am happy with Pinterest too, for the wonderful design ideas it gives.

A lot of time my words don’t mean much to those who don’t know me or have not read my words, letters …or, I like to call them.. ramblings. It takes awhile to know my style. But I have a couple of friends who “get…Me”. I was sent an e-mail recently that has fantastic “words” that I love and live by. SO in the coming shots, you will find that I will have a quote/thought or insert like normal and will ramble with them as usual. But as always, just keep in mind…everything has a bigger picture in mind…an underline thought, a goal to portray, a rambling of heart. To me photography is made from hidden blessings of unseen power that if we just catch a glimpse in a capture we just may have some love to share with others. Photography: Emotions, thoughts, joys, failures, all captured in just one Glimpse of a blessing.

Oh goodness…I am rambling..lol. Anyway, after several photos…I will put the whole poem together for you and hopefully someone will like it. If not, I am sorry…because I love the words and thier true meaning.

Thoughts...

~~Today we have bigger houses and smaller families.

~~More conveniences, but less time.

~~Life is a chain of moments in enjoyment and not only survival.

ps...feel free to ramble..lol

Blessings and have a great week, Andrea
