For the warp speed effect I used this tutorial.

I decided to throw in an orb to create the effect of chasing an orb at warp speed.

For this purpose, I set up a light inside the orb as child of the orb, and set up the orb as child of the camera - the latter is animated, consequently light and orb follow its animation.

If you want to have a go at Blender, it is a good idea to monitor the temperature of your CPU and GPU. This is a good free tool for this purpose: www.hwinfo.com/download/ - flag "sensors only" (you don't need the rest).

With a powerful computer you can make animated space scenes that are production ready and can go straight into a Sci Fi movie.

Mine isn't up to the task (yet), so for now I just make some low poly scenes than don't fry up my GPU.

That's why I first made this animated butterfly and animated magic chest. I wanted to learn how to animate objects in view of making my first space flight.

Mask of sorrow.

Inspired by Russian monument Mask of sorrow.

This monument is located on a hill above Magadan, Russia, commemorating the many prisoners who suffered and died in the Gulag prison camps in the Kolyma region of the Soviet Union during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

More colour from the fishing boats at Sungai Peng Datu, Kota Bharu Malaysia. These boats seem to be a copy of the Thai fishing boats. KB is only 30 min drive from the Thailand border so one can understand the influence here.

This is an old photo of Boomer when he was learning to make teaberry shakes at the partial program where my friends hang out. The W word..........Work

If you see a train of moving lights in the sky, it isn't a launch of SpaceX satellites, it's a space jelly.

"The Gift for M" is a project I've been working on for a while now, where I want to tell a story through a series of shots I create in Cyberpunk 2077. The first two are kind of like bullshots to introduce the two main characters, and then it goes into normal shots.

some random ramblings:

I can't remember how MANY times I had doubts and felt frustrated with this project. But in the end, the need to make and finish it always helps me keep going. Given how inefficient I am and my struggle with perfectionism (not that everything I do is perfect, it's quite the opposite), it's going to take a long time. Plus, I kinda want to get back to Witcher 3, which will only slow things down even more. My last two Witcher 3 shots were an attempt to do things in GWENT card style, and those two were more like test shots cause I want to see if I could pull it off. But the limited animation control in the storyboard ui didn't meet my expectations, so I abandoned it. With the release of redkit, things might change, idk tho.

Taking a breather for a bit from this now.

Modelling the lantern was a major headache until I found an excellent tutorial for it.

Then I had to shape a flame of the lantern - my attempts never looked realistic, so in the end I decided to go for one of these flame shaped light bulbs and to model an electric wire to add to the scene.

For the floor and the wall I used PBR textures with bump and normal maps.

The "Picture" is taken with a flash light (add a "sun" next to the camera), camera low near the ground

In a separate post I will upload a screencaptrue of the shader editor window with what I have found to be the best way to create relief, for instance for the floor tiles and the bricks in the wall.

Please comment expressing your feedback on this model I have finished.

A render I did a while ago. I wasn´t lazy the last years and learned a lot of things about working with Blender.

This sculpture is a Trefoil Knot which satisfies the following parametric equations:

x = sin(t) + 2*sin(2*t)

y = cos(t) - 2*cos(2*t)

z = -sin(3*t)

This curve has been shown here with spheres mapped around a ring which has been swept along this curve.
