Reading bedtime stories to myself. Scary bedtime stories = nightmares!!!!
Hadn't done one of these types of photos in a while, so thought it was time.
Nothing brilliant . . . . but it's about all I had time for :)

Kind of last minute, didn't turn out too bad. (I planned to do a picture on The Beauty and the Beast but changed my mind.)
Why space? I'm a sucker for space opera... and I had those cute Gundam SD to play the dwarfs.
Enjoying a bedtime story at the Royal Victoria School for the Blind, Newcastle upon Tyne, 1982 (TWAM ref. E.NC18/24).
Tyne & Wear Archives is proud to present a series of images relating to the Royal Victoria School for the Blind, Newcastle upon Tyne. The set has been produced to celebrate UK Disability History Month 2014.
The Royal Victoria School for the Blind (then known as the Royal Victoria Asylum) was established from a fund to mark the coronation of Queen Victoria in 1837 and was originally located at the Spital before moving to premises in Northumberland Street. In the 1890s the name was changed to the Royal Victoria School, and in 1895 the school moved to the former house of Dr Hodgkinson in Benwell Dene. Pupils came from throughout the North of England.
As a result of legislation to integrate special groups within the mainstream education system the school closed in 1985.

This charming original vintage litho from 1931 by children's illustrator Viola Ruth Lowe is as fresh as a Daisy; the colors are as crisp as day it was printed back 80 years ago.
It measures 7.5 x 9.5" and is printed on heavy paper and it's printed on the back as well, but the paper is nice and thick and nothing shows through.
Every night, after the kids have had their baths, we read stories while they drink some milk. We received this book of 365 stories and rhymes for girls as a present and Jack also got a blue version "for boys". Of the 365 options, Maisie always chooses one. Goldilocks. Every time!
I'm starting to take a disliking to that little girl with the "cutest nose you ever did see". Goldilocks that is, not Maisie.

Size 2T, top sewn with poppers rather than ties.
Need to remember to add more length for the tall lady in future, given she's not yet two...
Makes me laugh as she looks just like a young Luke Skywalker when he wears those white wrapover robes.
My sister reading to her little girl and friends.
I dont usually post children because of certain issues with the internet, but this was taken some time ago, years in fact. I just thought it was sweet, my sister used to really worry about being a mum, but she does a super job!

Father, Mother, Brothers and sister read a bedtime story togather on the bed in bedroom, kid, child, family, study, education and home work concept
Illustrations by Gustaf Tenggren. From "Bedtime Stories" a Little Golden Book c. 1942. MY copy, thirteenth printing, 1972.
searching through old books at my parent's home made me look through this series given to my sisters and I when we were younger.. I think my love of old myths and stories come from these volumes from the 1930s.
flowers were a special find! I had put them there sometime when I was 11 or 12.

My mother would light candles at bedtime~story time.... and that and the stories she made up out of her head spontaneously were MAGIC. They had a healing touch to my life.
And so... when I continued the tradition with these grandchildren, we had to have lights out, everyone in their beds and a candle. At the end of the story (which of course NEVER ends).... which continues each time Gramma MT comes to visit.. we each make a wish and blow out the candle. They told me, today that I had to have my own candle and they had theirs in Scotland .... it was delicious fun! It was and still is very healing to me.
