This charming original vintage litho from 1931 by children's illustrator Viola Ruth Lowe is as fresh as a Daisy; the colors are as crisp as day it was printed back 80 years ago.
It measures 7.5 x 9.5" and is printed on heavy paper and it's printed on the back as well, but the paper is nice and thick and nothing shows through.
Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Complementary Colours
I had something different in mind for this assignment actually. But when I brought my son to sleep this noon I allowed him to watch one episode of "Petterson & Findus" on the laptop DVD player. The room was already completely dark and I was amazed by his concentrated face that I decided to take a photo of it. The exposure was rather long but he held perfectly still. Upon editing I realized the complementary colors here.
What it took: A nonmoving subject, a tripod, ISO 1600.
P.S.: I made a HD video of this scene as well, if you are interested (click on "in HD ansehen" below the video window) .

Tonight before bedtime, Sydney brought me a stack of about 6 or 7 books and asked me to read them all to her. We only managed to get through 3 of them. One of the books she wanted me to read was The Cat in the Hat.
After each page I read, Sydney would have a series of questions to ask before I went onto the next page. She would say "I have 2 things to ask?" Then on the next page, she would interrupt to tell me, "I have 3 things to ask okay?"
She would ask, "Why is the fish mad?". Or like half way through the book, she would point at the cat and ask me, "Is that the cat?" :D lol. Then when Thing One and Thing Two came out, she would point to one, "Is this Thing One or Thing Two?" It was funny but of course Jessie was getting really annoyed and shushed her a few times. If Jessie only knew that she was the exact same way when she was Sydney's age. :)
Adam Sandler's 2008 comedy "Bedtime Stories" (top) used several Southern California locations. This great scene when it "rains" gumballs was shot in Long Beach under the beginning of the Queensway Bay Bridge. The stop light is fake. Funny because at this spot there is no cross traffic pedestrian, car, or otherwise. It was just a convenient location to start the rain of gumballs.
This high quality A3 poster print of an original painting (29.7 x 42cm) is from a collection of recently discovered watercolors by Margaret Noble made in 1920s.

My children are creatures of habit and traditions (just like me) so Sofia cannot go to sleep without a bedtime story. Sometimes she reads to me instead, which is lovely, but I wanted to remember this brief but special bedtime ritual of ours while it still lasts. She will be 9 this summer. Sniff.
That being said, this was taken at around 8pm on a Friday night so even thought she looks sleepy and angelic she did not go to sleep, of course. She could not wait to bolt out of the bed and cash in her bribe. I promised I would let her have the remote control to the camera. And oh my gravy, she discovered self portraits and she LOVED it! :) See below.

Sometimes taking pictures is just playing to transform your daughter into her (or yours) favorite fairy tales characters.

ma col desiderio di dormire insieme.

What distinguishes a relationship from another one? Which is that unique gesture, the habit which makes it different from the other ones? Which is the difference between one night crush and to fall in love with someone? Which is the moment you can say “I’m happy to live by his side and share everything with him”?

Reading bedtime stories to myself. Scary bedtime stories = nightmares!!!!
Hadn't done one of these types of photos in a while, so thought it was time.
Nothing brilliant . . . . but it's about all I had time for :)

Why space? I'm a sucker for space opera... and I had those cute Gundam SD to play the dwarfs.
Enjoying a bedtime story at the Royal Victoria School for the Blind, Newcastle upon Tyne, 1982 (TWAM ref. E.NC18/24).
Tyne & Wear Archives is proud to present a series of images relating to the Royal Victoria School for the Blind, Newcastle upon Tyne. The set has been produced to celebrate UK Disability History Month 2014.
The Royal Victoria School for the Blind (then known as the Royal Victoria Asylum) was established from a fund to mark the coronation of Queen Victoria in 1837 and was originally located at the Spital before moving to premises in Northumberland Street. In the 1890s the name was changed to the Royal Victoria School, and in 1895 the school moved to the former house of Dr Hodgkinson in Benwell Dene. Pupils came from throughout the North of England.
As a result of legislation to integrate special groups within the mainstream education system the school closed in 1985.

Every night, after the kids have had their baths, we read stories while they drink some milk. We received this book of 365 stories and rhymes for girls as a present and Jack also got a blue version "for boys". Of the 365 options, Maisie always chooses one. Goldilocks. Every time!
I'm starting to take a disliking to that little girl with the "cutest nose you ever did see". Goldilocks that is, not Maisie.
