So many thousands of people... showing up in solidarity to demand change, justice, and peace, police officers in East Palo Alto kneeling for just under nine minutes with protestors, a conspicuous lack of officers in San Jose that just a week ago was described as a "war zone" by police.
Massive protests ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND WORLD have demonstrated that people can attempt to understand the brutality and racism and just anti-blackness that American Police brandish with little to no fear of recourse by the oppressed.
We are witnessing not the birth of a movement because these sentiments and violations are not new. But we are seeing the critical mass consume the hearts and minds of allies. Maybe the shelter in place from the pandemic played a large part in frustrated people needing a cause to vent their anger. Maybe it was the cumulated pain of so many extrajudicial murders by police caught on video. I'm not going to look this gift horse in the mouth until the movement falters. So far, the energy of the protests has been further stoked by FURTHER police brutality in response to the protests themselves. But as many across the country are witnessing, the cops are wisening up. They are realizing they are hurting their own cause in the midst of the most serious propositions to defund and abolish they've ever faced.
So I ask you all to not relent. Do not let this become another 2-week media cycle. Find fuel for your passionate defense of those victimized by racism in sustainable sources. Read about the many, many haunting and beautiful accounts and studies of oppression. Talk to your friends about their experiences and fears. Take inspiration from all those protesting despite a pandemic.
At the very least, we need real reform in the police across America.
Because I won't be participating in round 4 I decided to take 2 spots for this round. It turned out to be very scrappy. I like some more then others but all together they just look great.

The USPS has once again done a great job losing my package of hair for my new girls--it got to Minnesota, then for some reason known only to USPS, it went on to Wisconsin. I am not going to sit here twiddling my thumbs, so I am starting on the next doll. Because the glass eyes I ordered from CHINA will be here in the next couple days, unless the USPS loses them too--
So, why can you get a package from China faster than a package from New Jersey?

Because of the poor quality of soil in the wet and riddled with rocks the sewerage excavation had to be widened to avoid the trench collapsing at the new land Bargara Golf Club, Bundaberg. Looking towards the Golf Links Estate houses.

My son Chris works in the same building as I do, and we take lunch often in my office. The conversations vary widely and sometimes we're just quiet together. He'll answer texts from friends and his Jennie, my daughter-in-law, or look up some bit of information pertinent to whatever we're discussing. I'll answer the phone if it rings, make a call if I need to, or check my personal email on my phone. Mostly we talk about things happening in our lives, debate some point, or just talk.
This day, Chris was needing a brush-up on the Pentax K-5 and my lenses, as he was going to use it and them for a special event as a gift for a friend. He wanted to see what the low-light capabilities were of this combination. I turned off the overhead lights and he mostly closed the louvered blinds on my wall of windows. A quick look at the camera, I composed and pressed the shutter.
When I looked at the image on the back of the camera, I had a gut reaction. This was one of the best portraits that I have of my son.
Chris was impressed when I handed him the camera and said - "Pretty good for ISO 6400." He was interested in taking natural light photos for his session, and was very pleased with the image quality at that high sensitivity to light level. The noise grain is ultra-fine and the tonal quality is superb, a great dynamic range from lights to darks.
What touches me isn't the technical part of the image.
This is my son.
The qualities of his life shine out to me in this portrait.
Perhaps because I love him. That's enough for me.

The construction of a church and a small village started shortly before 1070. Around 1252 the monastery was destroyed by a fire, the reconstruction took a century. During the 15th and 16th centuries, several wars took place between France and neighboring regions (Burgundy, Spain), during which the abbey was again destroyed and rebuilt in 1637. From 1759, great plans were started with the complete renovation of the abbey, of which only part was realized. In 1793 the abbey was finally destroyed by the French revolutionary troops and was sold as a national asset and served as a quarry for a century.

The Abbaye d'Orval (Est.1070), an ancient Cistercian monastery founded in 1132 in the Gaume region of Belgium, located in Villers-devant-Orval, part of Florenville in the province of Luxembourg. The abbey is still in use and well known for its history and spiritual life but also for its local production of Orval the best Trappist beer of Belgium and a specific abbey cheese.
