because she would hate me for highlighting her freckles.

Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Well, almost Norfolk, to my way of thinking.

because everyone has a camera shot.

Because subways always make for great photos.

Just Because... it's pouring again and I needed a daily shot. I'd taken some shots earlier practising my dof on wood-grain textures but they didn't have the effect I was looking for. While wandering around the glinting light from my crystal champagne flutes caught my eye. I stood one on my blue bench and took the shot from above looking into the glass. I tried a few different focus points but liked this one where the main focus is on the star-like pattern. I hadn't really tried anything like this before, but I think it turned out ok :)

Windows could not start because I had a window for the video card driver open while installing the latest video card driver for laptop. After the driver installation completed, Windows asked me to reboot.

The reboot sent me to this beautiful page where Windows wanted me to repair the file by "using the original Setup CD-ROM".

I sent a message to twitter about the problem and, my buddy, Jason replied with an easier fix.

His suggestion of pressing F8 at boot helped! Luckily the Last Known Good option placed me back into Windows where I could re-install the video card drives (and this time without additional driver windows open).

Lesson: When installing software, make sure your driver window is closed. =/

And we wrapped up our Jaipur India Projects on Friday. It was emotional because leaving is always the hardest part but these women and girls are in good hands with Hasmik Ghalechyan and Adv Aplav Saxena

Our combined efforts have raised over $1000 from our family and friends with $845 of that coming from the DivaGirl members and supporters and more donations are coming in from Cathie Berrey and Elisa De La Torre.

With these contributions, we were able to gift 3 sewing machines to Naya Sawera women’s self help group:

- 8-10 underwear each

- one pack of pads each

- 3 sewing machines

- fabrics

- groceries each day

- 2 underwear for each girl

- pads

- toys

- art supplies

- self care packs for the Blind School for Girls (lotion, face wash, pads, lip balm, oil, chocolate)

- snacks and chocolates for the kids

- so much more. Volunteering Abroad is NOT for everyone.

Culture shock is real and you need to keep an open mind when you are volunteering abroad because your culture will be very different from the culture of the country you’re visiting.

You are not there to change their culture, “make it better”, or even solve their problems.

You are there to let them know that they matter despite the harsh circumstances they’re in in life.

You are there giving your time and energy because they are valued in a place where it can be hopeless.

We are NOT their saviors.

We ask them for what they need and they needed underwear, sanitary pads, self worth (in a patriarchal country), self esteem boost, a sustainable way of living (3 sewing machines and fabrics) and to have a little bit of fun!

You are there to connect and let them feel seen, heard and validated, because as my new young friend from India, Shanaya, said, “It doesn’t matter what country you’re from, what language you speak, what color of skin you have, or what religion you practice, you can always find similarities and build connection”.

I am grateful for our host family Hasmik Ghalechyan and Adv Aplav Saxena for your dedication in meeting the needs of the communities you serve and for allowing me, Elisa De La Torre and Cathie Berrey to be part of your amazing projects.

Thank you to our interpreters and young local college coordinators, Priyanshi Agarwal, Shanaya and Pranjal for looking after us and taking good care of us as we navigate the slums of Jaipur.

To Laura Furtado for planning this trip for us with A Broader View Volunteers

To my fellow volunteers Cathie and Elisa, thanks for sharing this amazing experience with me. This is not easy work but it is fulfilling work.

I chose this for chaos because it is a mess of screwdrivers that has no real pattern to them. I like how the center of the photo has the most screwdrivers so it draws your attention to it. One thing I would change is better lighting as the bottom left corner is too dark

because i like this better

Because I have some girls at home too... ^^

Because I only had one full day in New York I took back to back Hop On Hop Off Buses. Some of the images are not very good as the bus would go over bumps etc,.I have kept them in as memorises of the day. I only got off the bus once so most of the photos were taken as we were travelling along. Sadly I just didn't have time to have a good walk around.

I woke to a lovely sunny day and not too cold with around 16c. As the day went on it clouded over a bit and cooled down. November 7, 2018 USA.

He'll always have your back ...

And I've been loved and I've been used

Cut wide open, scarred and bruised

I'm unbreakable ...

Flesh, it heals I know

Hearts, they never mend

Lovers come and go

Right now I need a friend ...

What an unexpected bonus awaited us in Freeport! Because of construction at Cococay, our cruise itinerary was modified and that private island was replaced with Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. I think that people were generally fine, though a few were more vocal in their complaining. The captain during the session with guests and other crew leaders made a good point. We were a longer cruise and a shorter one that only went to Cococay and Nassau could not be well served with changing their itinerary. So we got to go to Freeport Harbour. I knew there was going to be one ship in port with us, but as we approached, I noticed more cruise ships? Normally the sites do not get it that wrong. But they I realized that these were ships in dry dock, something I had never ever seen before. The ships in dry dock are the Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas and Empress of the Seas, the Celebrity Summit and the Carnival Freedom. Also there was the GNV-Rhapsody, a car ferry from Italy. These were being serviced at the Grand Bahama Shipyard. For the record, I would have loved if they did a brief harbor tour so you could get closer. Have to figure I am not the only ship-geek who would enjoy that. I will have to suggest that for the next time I am in Freeport! Taken from onboard the Grandeur of the Seas and on terra firma at Freeport, Grand Bahama Island on Monday February 18th, 2019. These were from our Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas for a 9 Night Southeast Coast & Bahamas Cruise (February 14th through the 23rd, 2019). The itinerary include stops in Charleston (SC), Port Canaveral (FL), Freeport (Grand Bahama Island), Nassau (Bahamas) and Miami (FL) before heading back to Baltimore.

Because I originally identified this as a sparrow, I wanted to add another image to correct the misinformation! As a novice bird enthusiast, I have much to learn!
