Because of the added weight from the shield I had to drill out a bunch of holes on the bottom and fill up with lead buck shot and sculpt over. I also had to sculpt out the feet to change the angles to help him stand. In the end I got the perfect balance.
Because of the dull flat sky I've messed around with some of the backgrounds.
A surprise visit from this RAF Boulmer based SAR Sea King. WOn't be long before this service is taken over by the civil authorities and these splendid old Helicopters will disappear from our skies.
Because I'd heard Polish traditional food combines meat and fruit, I thought I'd try this. It turns out that the filling was strawberries. Served with cream, this course was a bit like pancakes. So I had pancakes for lunch. Not bad. :)

I went to Target yesterday and they have all their Christmas stuff out -- so I bought some tinsel, lights and a couple bows and took a few shots... I'm sure there will be many more attempts, but here's a first go at potential cards. Bear came in from a short time outside with a new scratch under his eye this morning, so I only got a few of him (plus he's not quite as accommodating as she is). I think it may have been another attempt by Belle to hog the spotlight.

Temple of the Dawn, perhaps so named because the first light of morning is reflected off the surface of the temple with a pearly iridescence, is a buddhist temple (wat) in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is located in the Bangkok Yai district, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The full name of the temple is Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahavihara (วัดอรุณราชวรารามราชวรมหาวิหาร).
The temple was built in the days of Thailand's ancient capital of Ayutthaya and originally known as Wat Makok (The Olive Temple). In the ensuing era when Thonburi was capital, King Taksin changed the name to Wat Chaeng.
The Wat had a brief period as host of the Emerald Buddha, which was moved to Wat Phra Kaew in 1784.
The later King Rama II. changed the name to Wat Arunratchatharam. He restored the temple and enlarged the central prang. The work was finished by King Rama III. King Rama IV gave the temple the present name Wat Arunratchawararam.
Well because it's now an artifact, sitting in a 787 is forbidden. But otherwise here you go.

The barque James Craig was built by Bartram, Haswell & Co. in Sunderland, England in 1874. Originally named Clan Macleod, her maiden voyage was to Peru.
For 26 years she plied the trade routes of the world carrying general cargoes during which period she rounded Cape Horn 23 times. In 1900 she was purchased by Mr J J Craig of Auckland and was used on trans-Tasman trade routes as a general cargo carrier. In 1905 she was re-named James Craig and then a short six years later, in 1911, she was laid up because increasing competition from steam ships made sailing vessels uneconomical. She was then stripped and used as a copra hulk in New Guinea. After the First World War there was an acute shortage of cargo ships. This gave James Craig a new lease of life after being towed from New Guinea to Sydney for re-fitting.
Before moving to Canada I'd never encountered the phenomenon of footwear being hurled up over power-lines and the like. Now it's just part of the scenery...

In the middle of picture you can see now defunct sail ship Alexander von Humbold. The next one is a replica of Admiral Nelson. Both serve as a restaurant today.
The wharf floats as twice a day tide changes water level by few meters. So bridges are downhills now but sometimes uphills.

Classic 'photo in the mirror' shot. Self indulgent, yes. Worthy of Flikr, no. However, like the title says...(but, dammit, I had good hair this day. :P)
This is a type of iris called a rebloomer, because unlike most of the German Bearded Iris varieties, it blooms all year long. More bang for the buck, so to speak. I photographed this in it's natural setting of our garden.
Strobist info: I used a manual camera setting (iso 100, 1/200 and f16) that caused the background leaves to go dark but still be visible. The light on our hero, the flower, was from a YN560 in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box. The flash, in manual mode, , and camera, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF=603N. The black background is from a black disk.
