A woman came into the bead store with a box and asked if she could give it to the store.
Everyone said no until I spoke up and said I would like to have it.
I brought it home. There are some pearls, some garnets, some vintage bugles, among other things.
The treasure in the small box was a spool of Corticelli silk on a wooden spool, priced 25cents.
Sweet little box. I wonder whose it was.
I don't need beads. I have some. Maybe a lot.
I am always interested in someone's unfinished stuff. I think that is why I have purchased abandoned quilt blocks over the years and put them together.
It might be fun to make a project using only what is available in this box.
Yes, the camera is always in my truck, and I'm always ready to interrupt work and record my fascination of the day.
This is a forest green suede case that contained a necklace my mother once gave me. I am revamping it to use to send a special gift of tasbih to a friend.
Inside the case is a simple cotton insert I made by hand. It's a pretty multi-color tie-dye-like print on one side, and forest green on the other. This is just to act as a cushion and be attractive to hold the tasbih.
Entry into the Australian Beading forum wirework challenge "Head wear". I created freeform "crazy lace" head band with beads woven in and an Eni Oken inspired focal in place of a flower :)
Hand rolled in the village of Ndejje by Mzuribeads cooperative. Strips of recycled paper are cut into triangles, and rolled tighlty around a needle. The beads are then hung up and varnished for a waterproof and glossy finish. No paint involved, the colours are determined on the specific pages selected.

a variation of the supernove necklace in the February 2012 Bead and button - I used smaller rivolis and a smaller square pendant - then scaled back everything to look right!!
Vintage beading in pink. It's got so much texture and sparkle, it's amazing work. Was attached to the front of a wicker basket type purse. Recycled it!
Frosty pink murano-style glass beads dangle from .925 sterling silver beading wire. The earring hooks are also sterling silver and the drops measure 2 1/4" in length.
This is the costume I made for the Enchanted Doll birthday contest in 2010. It's based on one of the dolls that the artist made and constructed to fit her. The original doll costume can be seen here: www.enchanteddoll.com/galleries/concubine/concubine.html
Here it's finished, but only has minimal beading around the edges.
