Random fact of the day: This is someone else's glasses because I got them at goodwill for $0.25! Kids size fits small dogs well - who knew!
I bought one of those tiny supermarket herb in pots(against advice), expecting it to last a few days and die (as usual). This time I put it into a larger pot, watered it from tray beneath and kept it in conservatory. It took off, we have used it all Summer and it has grown to this 40 cm wide specimen!. Probably keep it as a pet.

utilisant un puissant téléobjectif , il fallait attendre la bonne lumière et ce passage pour y faire un cliché assez insolite. La turbulence des sorties de réacteurs brouille l'image en arrière plan.
While we were in the UK Basil moved into our Toldo (sliding canopy). We have to get up before daylight to pull the canopy over before he hangs himself/herself up in it. Basil is resident whilst we are away. Captured by hubby Dominic...:)

Saint Basil's Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox church erected on Red Square in Moscow in 1555–61 on orders from Ivan the Terrible. It commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan.
St. Basil's marks the geometric center of Moscow. It has been the hub of the city's growth since the 14th century and was the city's tallest building until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.
I don't have much of a green thumb. The last time I tried to grow a basil plant, it died. Maybe because I kept plucking away at the leaves. Thinking of growing basil again.
But this time, I'll think big and grow a small patch.

Some of you probably know by now that I am a big huge fan of William Wegman's work. Whenever I am out of ideas, I turn to Wegman for inspiration. And this shot was my inspiration for today. Problem is, Wegman uses weimaraner dogs that fill up clothing much more human-like, while Basil makes all dress shots look like he is an old lady. LOL! He was a great sport though.

Mediterranean and Indochinese cuisines frequently use basil, the former frequently combining it with tomato. Basil is one of the main ingredients in pesto—a green Italian oil-and-herb sauce from the city of Genoa, its other two main ingredients being olive oil and pine nuts.
La basilique Sainte-Clotilde-et-Sainte-Valérie est une basilique de l'Église catholique romaine située 23 bis, rue Las Cases dans le 7e arrondissement de Paris, l'une des cinq basiliques mineures de Paris, élevée au rang de basilique mineure par le pape Léon XIII en 1897.
Elle a été construite entre 1846 et 1857 par François-Christian Gau, puis par Théodore Ballu, l'architecte de la Trinité, après la mort du premier en 1853. L'église est dédiée à sainte Clotilde ainsi qu'à sainte Valérie (vierge et martyre de Limoges).
En 1897, à l'occasion du quatorzième centenaire du baptême de Clovis (dont la deuxième femme fut sainte Clotilde), l'église a été élevée à la dignité de « basilique mineure » par le pape Léon XIII. En 2007, Goudji crée et réalise le nouvel autel majeur. Cette basilique néo-gothique se signale par ses deux flèches hautes de 69 m. L'intérieur est clair et on peut y voir des vitraux (roses de Thibaut, maître verrier du xixe siècle), des peintures de Lenepveu (chapelle de la Sainte-Vierge), des sculptures de Pradier et Duret (chemin de croix) ainsi qu'une série de sculptures de Guillaume représentant la conversion de sainte Valérie, sa condamnation à mort, la décapitation et l'apparition à saint Martial.
L'édifice domine le square Samuel-Rousseau où l'on peut voir marronniers, sophora et arbres de Judée.
La basilique a été copiée par l'architecte Léon Vautrin pour la construction de la façade de la cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur de Canton entre 1863 et 1888.
I deliberately sowed too many Basil seeds in each pot to see how far they would go, in preparation for dressing the tables for our wedding next year. They're doing ok but really need a lot more space and soil for the growth to kick on.
