Spicy globe basil is a cultivar of Ocimum basilicum (sweet basil). Unlike some better known basils, it grows in the form of a tidy, compact bush, more suitable for gardens and small pots than most varieties. The small, densely growing leaves are used in the same way as the leaves of other sweet basil varieties.
These in the picture are young plants ready for transplanting into small pots in which they will grow over the winter on my kitchen window. I gently pressed the plants with my finger to make them better visible in the frame, and it is also proof of the 3 inch rule. (The seeds grow in a hollowed log filled with peat moss.)

Its still green and lush here in Maine. Our colorful autumn will come in October.
Thank you so much for visiting! Be well:)
Basil is all around the tomatoes in my vegetables garden.
Basil and zinnia protect tomatoes from various pests and at the same time make the garden look beautiful.
part of my wine series (that sounds so serious; honestly, it's me shooting random stuff in my kitchen next to my glass of wine!)
Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

Taking a cue from Giovanna Baldini - bloodybee (she’s basically a genius) and creating my own GMO, a tomato basil plant. Is there a better combination? Playing with the light table again inside because it snowed today, oh spring how you tease us so. TGIF! What would be your favorite combo?

At every opportunity Basil Bat moves into our roof Toldo to sleep. We try to get up before daylight and open the toldo but this time too late again. Opened it up and there he/she was snoozing. Flew off to find another cosy canopy ... ☺
