U.S. Air Force basic military graduation and coining ceremony is held Jan. 28, 2021, for the 322nd Training Squadron at the Pfingston Reception Center on Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Due to current world events, the graduation ceremonies will be closed to the public until further notice for safety and security of the newly accessioned Airmen and their family members due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Escuela Salvador Allende, dependiente de la Corporación Municipal para el Desarrollo Social de Viña del Mar, ganó la competencia por 9ª vez
La Escuela Presidente Salvador Allende, en básica damas, el Seminario San Rafael en básica varones, el Liceo José Cortés Brown en Media damas y el Colegio Salesianos de Valparaíso en Media varones, resultaron ganadores de la IX Olimpiada Escolar “Campeones para Viña” organizada por la Municipalidad de Viña del Mar a través de la Casa del Deporte, con el apoyo de la Universidad de Las Américas.
La ceremonia de premiación de este magno evento deportivo que se extendió por cinco meses y en el que participaron 12 mil escolares, de 142 establecimientos educacionales de diversas comunas de la región, tuvo lugar en el salón auditórium de la Universidad de Las Américas y fue encabezada por la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato, por el director de la Casa del Deporte, Javier Aravena y por el vicerrector de la UDLA,
En la oportunidad, la jefa comunal viñamarina indicó que la Olimpiada Escolar marcó un hito para competencias de este tipo, pues con la versión 2013, en todas sus versiones ya han intervenido más de 100 mil deportistas.
“Este evento es único a nivel nacional, pues potencia el desarrollo formativo de los jóvenes, fomenta el trabajo en equipo y mantiene el énfasis que hemos impulsado, con apoyo del Concejo Municipal, de cultivar una cultura deportiva entre los habitantes de Viña del Mar. Esto me da una gran tranquilidad y me da una gran satisfacción haber premiado a estos jóvenes y felicitar también a los profesores y padres porque se han comprometido con el deporte”, dijo la alcaldesa.
En la oportunidad la alcaldesa destacó el trabajo de la Escuela Presidente Allende de Glorias Navales, dependiente de la Corporación Municipal, que por noveno año se adjudica la competencia en la categoría básica damas.
Al respecto su director, Hernán Madariaga señaló que el secreto “es tener a un profesor de educación básica comprometido y un equipo deportivo que ha sabido ver, que a través del deporte nosotros podemos rescatar a los niños que están en situación de vulnerabilidad”.
En tanto el director de la Casa del Deporte, Javier Aravena, dijo que este 2013 hubo una participación increíble y que para el próximo año cuando este departamento cumple 10 años se espera tener una mayor participación de estudiantes, tanto en la Olimpiada Escolar como en la Olimpiada Interempresas y Servicios Públicos.
La IX Olimpiada Escolar, incluyó las disciplinas de ajedrez, atletismo, natación, taekwondo, tenis, tenis de Mesa, balonmano, básquetbol, fútbol y vóleibol y en ella intervinieron alumnos de Valparaíso, Concón, Quilpué, Villa Alemana, Quillota, La Calera, Casablanca, y Viña del Mar.
En la ocasión se premió también a los ganadores por equipos y a los 40 deportistas más destacados por disciplina y categoría.

The visi vest is there as a visual aid to prevent people banging their heads on the loose end of the boom arm. It doesn't stop people banging their heads, but it means I've got a clear conscience when they do!

I spent all week in various meetings and needed to do something physical. I've been meaning to add a shelf to my work bench to clean it up a bit, so I banged it out tonight.
Fairly easy, total work time was about an hour.
