Candidates on the army basic reconnaissance course disembark a CH-124 Sea King helicopter at Canadian Forces Base Albert Head near Victoria, British Columbia on 15 November 2013.

 

The aim of the Basic Recce course is to qualify selected soldiers to perform the duties of an Infantry reconnaissance patrol member. Taught through the practical application of lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises and ranges, candidates are trained in the fundamentals of individual field craft, small unit tactics, navigation, surveillance, and tactical tracking.

Des stagiaires du cours élémentaire de reco de l’Armée débarquent d’un hélicoptère CH-124 Sea King à la Base des Forces canadiennes Albert Head, près de Victoria (Colombie-Britannique), le 15 novembre 2013.

 

Le but du cours de reconnaissance de niveau élémentaire est de permettre aux militaires choisis d’atteindre un niveau de qualification qui leur permet d’exécuter les fonctions d’un membre d’une patrouille de reconnaissance de l’infanterie. Au moyen de mises en application pratiques des exposés, de démonstrations, d’exercices pratiques et d’entraînements sur le champ de tir, les participants apprennent les rudiments des différentes manœuvres en campagne, des tactiques pour petites unités, de l’orientation, de la surveillance et du pistage tactique.

I found a picture of my Basic Training platoon from 1981. The scan is not too great as the photo was larger than the scanning bed.

One of my first pieces of rolling stock, a simple design that I made out of extra pieces. I like how the rails are on the train instead of underneath it.
