The abandoned Base Supply at Crows Landing, California. The Naval Auxiliary Air Station (NAAS) Crows Landing was commissioned in 1942 as an auxiliary air field to Naval Air Station (NAS) Alameda and used for pilot training.
Crows Landing was decommissioned on July 6, 1946, and the site became an Outlying Land Field (OLF) to NAS Alameda and later NAS Moffett Field. The site remained active throughout the 1980s and was closed in 1991.
NAMEST AIR BASE, Czech Republic -- Maintainers from the 81st Aircraft Maintenance Unit inspect an A-10 Thunderbolt II that just returned from providing close air support to a forward air control training mission Sept. 12, during Ramstein Rover 2012 here. A-10 Thunderbolt IIs from the 81st FS are participating in the NATO exercise to provide close air support to partnering nations and practice forward air control missions with allies in international security assistance force realistic scenarios. Participating in exercises like RARO 12 ensures effective employment of airpower in support of alliance or coalition forces while mitigating risks to civilians in contingency operations. Lady – a one-woman show, inspired by the character of Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth - seeks answers to a number of profound questions. Who is the Modern Woman? To what extent is our behavior guided by gender stereotypes, and to what degree by our character and primordial traits? How do Shakespearean archetypes influence our thinking and actions today? What is the price we are prepared to pay for power and success? Is there a way to help us cope with the temptations, suffering and chaos of today’s world?
The artist’s interpretation of William Shakespeare’s text reaches beyond modernization of Shakespeare’s timeless messages. Apart from presenting a study of power, passion and revenge, it takes us into the realm of female archetypes and its primordial aspects, from the protective to the murderous. Led by Hekate, the incarnation of the Witch - the forgotten Mother’s archetype - the spectators take part in a magical ritual, where messages and mantras are delivered to the sounds of gongs, rattles and sublime music of Andrzej Satanowski. Will the artist succeed in making us believe that we have the power to change the world? Will she give us hope? Will she change the course of Lady Macbeth’s destiny?

Active duty, retired and veteran pioneers from across the ICBM community met at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Oct. 7 for a three-day 50th anniversary of the ICBM commemoration.
The ceremonies included a Guardian Sword event, a brainstorming session on how to make the strategic-deterrent mission more efficient; a "Curtain Raiser" reception; a four-part symposium; a commemoration dinner; a technology exposition; a memorial service; and a painting dedication.
Attendees included Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley; Gen. Kevin Chilton, U.S. Strategic Command commander; Gen. C. Robert Kehler, Air Force Space Command commander; and Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz, Air Force Global Strike Command commander.
America's ICBM force is deployed across almost 35,000 square miles of the Great Plains. The missiles are operated, secured, maintained and sustained every minute of the day by almost 10,000 dedicated Airmen.
Turning finals on Base Sucre air base (SVBS), Maracay. We wanted to get to Valencia Airport, but another airplane had a misshap upon landing and the airport was closed for around 1:30 hours, so we called our pax and told'em to haul a$$ and get their behinds to this airport (35mins drive).

SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM FIXED BASE GUIDANCE AND NAVIGATION SIMULATOR
One of only three advanced space shuttle orbiter simulators used to train NASA astronauts.
The fixed-base Guidance and Navigation Simulator (GNS) represents one of only three simulators once used to train astronauts for the Space Shuttle Program at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Along with the motion-base Shuttle Mission Simulator (SMS) and the Fixed-Base Simulator (FBS), these complex machines were used to create a series of various mission tasks ranging from full mission rehearsals down to recreating specific exercises such as atmosphere entry or launching satellites.
Predating the SMS and FBS, the GNS was built in the late 1970s and operational by 1982. Initially it was primarily used only to test and verify guidance and navigation software that would later be installed in the SMS, FBS, and orbiters. As such it originally did not have visual computer-generated windscreen displays and much of the interior was unfinished, though it did contain the same complex array of cockpit instrumentation, controls, and computer displays operated by five distinct general-purpose computers (GPC) present in actual orbiters.
Following the Challenger accident investigation, the Rogers Commission suggested that NASA invest in additional crew training simulators to provide increased and expanded training and to handle the higher frequency of missions. However, the cost of providing an additional SMS or FBS proved too expensive, so NASA elected to upgrade the GNS into a full fixed-base crew simulator that was essentially identical to the FBS.
The upgraded GNS flight deck was enhanced to provide a more realistic appearance and a full visual computer-generated imagery system for the six forward facing windscreens. Computer-generated imagery (CGI) was a new science in the early 1980s and all the simulators used a first-generation CGI system, rudimentary by today's standards.
For 20 years the upgraded GNS was used interchangeably with the FBS and it is likely that every post-Challenger crew spent time in the GNS practicing launch, ascent, orbit, re-entry, and landing procedures.
With the end of the Space Shuttle Program, the GNS was retired in 2011. In late 2020 the GNS was used on the set of a science fiction movie due to be released in late 2021 [not sure why they’re being cryptic, its Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall]. The filmmakers modified the simulator's external appearance, making the GNS more closely resemble the outer surface of an actual orbiter, along with internal cabin modifications. Following movie shooting, the GNS flight deck was donated to the Pima Air & Space Museum in early 2021.
