a sort of reflection about what the failure. this is what allows us to make progress?

In any case, I liked crumpled paper after having folded the base!!

fold from one uncut square of kraft paper (40/40cm) for each piece ...

for the hedgehog I use the base of my glyptodon: a sort of frog base ...

So I can say now: it's not so esasy to crumpled paper as you want !!!!!

Unlike their typical attack from a branch suspended over the water, this Green Heron repeatedly leapt from a stump and dove into nearby schools of menhaden, more often than not, returning with a fish in its beak. Although this time not. On Horsepen Bayou.

Test-fold of the base. Based on a 48 x 48 grid, with an asymmetry at the bottom.

It's not the easiest to collapse, as there's a few finicky sections, but overall it's not too difficult. Many flaps are available for shaping, so the final model should be quite detailed. Will test out the shaping on this fold, and then start on the final rendition soon enough (just have to pick a good colour for the paper)

Been away a long while with really all sorts going on! Difficult times but all well and happy now. So here's one from the iPhone! Lovely day in the Lakeland fells, great light ...no camera though so don't look too closely. The plan is to get back out doing stuff...er..soon?!

Abandoned Sovjet radar base located in the west of Latvia.

This is my third and last display base (after those I've built for Tahu and Lewa), created for the Month of Earth.

Thanks to the amazing gabriele.zannotti : without his tutorials, I would've never been able to make the crystals glow, or the focal blur effect on the renders.

"The Force Awakens" fever has struck me in an unexpected way: I'm picking up vintage Star Wars figures I had as a kid. These three came together, so I did a shot that makes about as much sense as the Empire having a base on Hoth.

The US navy had a base at Capricorn Wharf along Macquarie Street, Teneriffe in Brisbane during WWII which played a significant role in the war in the Pacific. During the regeneration of the area in the 1990's, a heritage park and trail were established to pay homage to not only the US submarines and their crew but all submarines from Australia, the USA, Great Britain and New Zealand that were either based here or used Brisbane as a port of call and repair facility during the war.

The article below describes some of the history of the base and also has a number of photos of the site as it was during the war and the '90's regeneration project also. The area has nicely matured now.

The three photos from left clockwise are the centre of the current commemorative park which includes quite a few plaques with descriptions of various submarines from all four nations and other associated history from the conflict as well as seating in the shape of various classes of vessel. The top right shot features a submariner's prayer and details of one submarine based here that was lost at sea and the final shot is of course of the flags of the four nations involved. More details of all US and Australian vessels that served from Brisbane are shown on commemorative plaques in Newstead Park down the road.

Fun photography fact: There are 6 points on the stars created by the lights because my Sigma 10-20mm lens has 6 aperture blades. If I was using a lens with 7 blades, the stars would have 14 points. 8 blades = 8 points. 9 blades = 18 points. Etc!

Technical blah blah blah: HDR from 3 exposures, processed in CS5. This is the first shot that I used CS5's "content-aware" fill to completely remove a few people and a whole tree from the foreground. I'm sure you can find where if you look close, but hopefully it's invisible at a quick glance. Pretty cool feature.

If I may be permitted another diversion from my usual land based travel photos, here's a representetive of the type of machine which brought about the demise of the ocean liner seen in last night's posting.

BOAC's G-ASGG was I believe a Vickers VC10. It and other similar jet airliners played a key part in making the world a smaller place. In doing so, it helped sign the death warrant for long distance ocean travel. Insufficient passengers preferred to spend days or weeks getting to places when they could fly in hours.

My uncle Charlie and his wife Vera were keen to eploit the new opportunites afforded by quick Eurpoean travel and it would have been on such an occasion that he took this slide. Any help with the location would be appreciated please. A group of pleasant little British built commercial vehicles attend the plane.

I built this MOC for Andromeda's Gates on Eurobricks. It shows a MANTIS mining base in full swing, there's even some little loader trucks carrying loads of Awesomnium. The building has a full interior as well.

Anytime we go near that lake, Lough Shannaghan seen in the foreground, the heavens open up overhead. Thankfully we took shelter at the Mourne Wall.

Ended up with this shot and about 5 seconds of the time lapse project before the clouds came rolling back up the silent valley...
