Based on the WWII Stearman trainer, The Super Stearman was created in 1977 with a beefed op structure and engine for movie stunts and aerobatics.

This is my third and last display base (after those I've built for Tahu and Lewa), created for the Month of Earth.

Thanks to the amazing gabriele.zannotti : without his tutorials, I would've never been able to make the crystals glow, or the focal blur effect on the renders.

This is an actual Marine Base, the beach is (was?) free for the public. Only foreigners have to pay a small fee.

The Domo charging bays to the left of the power core are rarely visited by humans except a few dedicated technicians who keep the robots running.

The base part to several builds I have. This is a blunt "How-To." It can be applied to more than just bases. Not sure if anyone will use this design but now you can see how its done.

Made some progress...still a lot to do

Anytime we go near that lake, Lough Shannaghan seen in the foreground, the heavens open up overhead. Thankfully we took shelter at the Mourne Wall.

Ended up with this shot and about 5 seconds of the time lapse project before the clouds came rolling back up the silent valley...

The US navy had a base at Capricorn Wharf along Macquarie Street, Teneriffe in Brisbane during WWII which played a significant role in the war in the Pacific. During the regeneration of the area in the 1990's, a heritage park and trail were established to pay homage to not only the US submarines and their crew but all submarines from Australia, the USA, Great Britain and New Zealand that were either based here or used Brisbane as a port of call and repair facility during the war.

The article below describes some of the history of the base and also has a number of photos of the site as it was during the war and the '90's regeneration project also. The area has nicely matured now.

The three photos from left clockwise are the centre of the current commemorative park which includes quite a few plaques with descriptions of various submarines from all four nations and other associated history from the conflict as well as seating in the shape of various classes of vessel. The top right shot features a submariner's prayer and details of one submarine based here that was lost at sea and the final shot is of course of the flags of the four nations involved. More details of all US and Australian vessels that served from Brisbane are shown on commemorative plaques in Newstead Park down the road.

I is for Ice Planet 2002

This mech/speeder is based on the alphabet starfighter project that my son and I began last year. (see feed for the rest of the ships)

This this the second attempt at an I-Wing. While the first one was fun, I used inspiration from the Ice Planet 2002 Lego theme from 1994 for this color scheme and wanted to include a transforming function that was sturdy enough for a 4.5 year old to manage. The resulting construction mech is designed for terraforming an ice planet with laser cutting fingers, multiple skis and a transforming ski-speeder mode.

Backstory:

One cold weekend afternoon, I was looking for something to do with my four year old in the house. We went to our Lego room, "What do you want to build?", "A spaceship," Star Wars obsessive Elliot answered, "an E-Wing!" I knew that the Lego fan site From Bricks to Bothans held a letter based starfighter contest years before, but I was willing to give it our own try.

As the project progressed the builds became more and more complex and the rules became more flexible. We finished the letters of Elliot's first and middle names and now we are working our way through the remaining letters.

Near the Apollo 11 Lunar Module landing site, there is a line of three craters named for Niel Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, & Michael Collins. The smallest is only 2.6 km or about 1.3 seconds of arc in size. These were imaged with a Questar 3.5" telescope, 2x2x Dakin Barlow lenses, and a Sony a6300 camera.

Leeuwarden Air Base will host units of the United States Air Force between 17 and 28 October 2022.

During this period, Dutch and American fighter aircraft flew joint practice missions.

The main aim of the exercise is, among other things, to promote mutual cooperation and deplorability between NATO partners.

Sunday 16e October four F22 aircraft will land at Leeuwarden Air Base.

The F22A is part of twelve U.S. Air Force F-22A Raptors assigned to the 90th Fighter Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

Tail Code Numbering System US Air Force

Two large letters identify the unit (wing/group/organization) that the aircraft is assigned to, or the home base of the unit. In some instances, the letters indicate an historic legacy; for example, tail code "FF" has been used to indicate "1st Fighter Wing".

The Air Force aircraft Serial Number is also usually marked on the tail, in smaller numbers. Below the abbreviation "AF" is placed the first two digits of the serial number, indicating the fiscal year in which the aircraft was ordered. To the right are the last 3-digits of the serial number. See graphic below.

Different units located at the same air base can use different 2-letter codes.

First assembly of the "complete" base.

Moon Station (6 modules), Rocket Base (2 modules) and Command Centre (2 modules) plus the whole vehicle and spaceship fleet.

Detailed photos of the new models will follow soon.
