I'm excited. After lots of reading and some trial and error I think I found a new lens to my collection, Canon 135L. This is the first testshot that I took with the lens. Only a snapshot from our backyard, but I still love it.
Background: wanted to upgrade my Canon 85/1.8 portrait lens, which I liked a lot, but was still missing a little something from the shots. First bought a Sigma 85/1.4 based on good reviews it has received on the net. Was greatly disappointed to the Sigma and returned it to store. Was not sharp even after rigorous AF micro-adjustment.
Same evening (yesterday, that is) I noticed someone selling a second hand 135L for a good price, retrieved it today during my lunch break and I think I got the lens that I was after in the first place.
Sharp wide open. Extremely fast focusing. Great color and contrast. Beautiful out-of-focus area blurring. Totally silent focusing. Paid less for this than for the Sigma 85/1.4. Nuff said.

Many years ago I took a buckeye out of my pocket and tossed it along my backyard fence-line. It sprouted and grew into this now nearly 15-foot tree which provided brilliant yellow foliage this fall. It hasn't bloomed in the spring and produced its own buckeyes yet, but it has survived my lawnmower and bark-scarring from the antlers of a white-tailed deer over its lifetime.
Backyard - The backyard is completely shaded by a huge pecan tree. This tree also helps keep the house cool in the summer since it shades most of the house during the summer months.
My favorite things are swimming in the lake, jumping on trampolines, playing games and Hawaii Five-O.
My project is about backyard chickens, including basic chicken needs, chicks, hens, coops, and food.
I really enjoyed making this project because it contained video, clay, research and writing.

new sod for the backyard. The fence is to keep the dogs off for two weeks. It will go around the garden after the lawn is rooted.
I took a walk this evening around the apartment complex where my wife and I live. The view in our backyard this evening.
Another try at a panorama. It was a very hard contrast this time which the camera could not handle, so I tried a two row mosaic.

Built a fire in the fire pit last night. Only have one more month in the house. Might build one or two more before the big move.
One of my backyard shade gardens. The backyard gardens might be described as informal woodland gardens. They're mostly made up of perennials with a few annuals mixed in for color. These gardens are really still in their infancy having only been established two years ago or less. Parts of the garden should really be taking off this year. See photo for plant notes.

One day this rabbit showed up in the backyard. Looks like it moved in as we see it every day now for the last few weeks.
It is pretty cute and keeps the grass mowed. Its a win/win so far.
