My backyard after it snowed, taken with my iPhone 5s.

I did this plein air painting on my back porch. I wanted to test some new equipment before taking it out on location. I bought a tripod adapter to hold my iPad, a Nomad brush, and an Epson PictureMate Charm portable printer for printing reference photos. You can read about my setup and findings on my blog over at:

iPad, ArtRage and Snapseed apps, Nomad brush. Total time about 30 minutes.

Sure looks different than the shots from Summer!!

This little guy is almost always somewhere nearby, but usually in this one spot by the fence.

New pondless waterfall added the other day. We are using RE Scott Landcaping www.rescottlandscape.com/index.htm for the work.

I was trying for something interesting with the tile table the camera was sitting on but that didn't turn out so well. Notes are included for backyard landmarks. LMAO!

The ball drop and 2010 sign lit up with the new backyard movie screen and the New Year's countdown and live NYC ball drop video stream.

This truly unique backyard is a must see. It's at least 3 times the size of any regular sized backyard in the area. It's fully fenced, contains a beautiful patio area and is landscaped.

A backyard in central part of town.

Note the peculiar flare at the top of the picture. I used a vented hood and I think the vents are not optimally shaped. They leak light through the vents that can reach the lens in some cases. Think I will have to fix that.

My backyard friends came to visit me last month! Living on a bluff brings me a variety of wildlife throughout the year. As you can tell, the changing of the leaves had just started, still have a ways to go before more beautiful colors are seen, if the rain doesn’t damage them first! after two year of living in compound villas and apartments, there is something nice about coming back to a backyard... we've decided to start a vegie garden, but... there's no room for the garden.. for now, it's in pots.. a good start i guess...

oh, and melbourne (australia really) is really, really, really dry at the moment.. one of the (few) points that my father and i agree on is the use of rain water... i'd go a step farther again and use grey water, but... that's just a leeetle to far at the moment.

'roid week. day 2.

oh... and i went out and bought polaroid film completely oblivious to the beginning or 'roid week... how's that for coincidence?!

Water filling up in the backyard during our Atmospheric Rain meets Bomb Cyclone storm on Sunday. This was early in the day. It was a massive lake by the end of the evening.

Not my backyard and fortunately not a big problem. I think five fire trucks could've handled just about anything. Note the weird clown thing on the hood of the Dodge army truck. Neighbors...
