Those that know me well are fully aware that I don't really do books, so why I have been to two different libraries in as many days that are way off my patch?

Yesterday, I visited Kensal Library in West London, not only because it was very close to an ample supply of Portuguese custard tarts, but also because they were able to give me a booklet detailing the London Open House weekend on 20/21 September.

But today I visited this fine example in Saffron Walden, an Essex town that is the antithesis of say, Basildon. Tucked away in the corner is the 'Archive Access Point' which I used to plough through various parish records in pursuit of my family history.

Both days I found the library assistants most helpful and I'm looking forward to more of the same wherever in the world I am greeted at the enquiry counter.

Please be aware... I am no coin expert. Titles here are either what I was told when acquiring these or are from a simple Google search. I make no claim as to them being 100% accurate but I make an effort to be as factual as I am able when posting. There may well be some duplication of coin type or variety, but I try not to double post any single coins. My feeble brain may slip on that from time to time. These are all from my semi worthless collection of world coins from over the years. Little to no value exists in most (if not all) of them. They are just a hobby. Fujifilm X-H2

In April ESL students and the ISO (international student organization) hosted fourth graders from the nearby Paul School for a morning of cultural awareness with a focus on China. Brewster students shared information about their native countries while the elementary school students rotated through stations where they received instruction on writing Chinese characters, learning colors and numbers, practiced using chopsticks, tried their hand at the cat’s cradle with a Chinese jump rope, and even learned card tricks.

Once again I couldn't remember the name of these birds. Thanks to my friend phenolog I finally found the answer ;)

This is White Wagtail. They are quite common here in Ukraine. But usually they don't allow you to get too close. Sometimes they do, but they move so quickly it's very hard to focus. I tried several times but this is still the only one sharp shot.

It was also the first time for me to try the flash for shooting birds. I always wondered why nature photographers use it during the day. It seems pointless because flash cannot give you any real help when using it with 400mm lens. Well, it came out the flash can add something interesting—take a closer look at bird's eye ;) It sparks with blue which is usually unseen unless you light the eye directly to see the reflection of the retina.

Strange, but light don't scare birds. I tried the flash several times after and birds were only annoyed to the sound of discharged batteries.
