I think it's always important to be vigilant of what you're doing and aware of your surroundings.

October

O hushed October morning mild,

Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;

Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,

Should waste them all.

The crows above the forest call;

Tomorrow they may form and go.

O hushed October morning mild,

Begin the hours of this day slow.

Make the day seem to us less brief.

Hearts not averse to being beguiled,

Beguile us in the way you know.

Release one leaf at break of day;

At noon release another leaf;

One from our trees, one far away.

Retard the sun with gentle mist;

Enchant the land with amethyst.

Slow, slow!

For the grapes' sake, if the were all,

Whose elaves already are burnt with frost,

Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—

For the grapes' sake along the all.

This gecko kept a cautious eye on me as it hugged this banana leaf.

This is my second shot for the weekly theme of "contact," the second of four themes with which Myla Kent and I have chosen to challenge ourselves.

I like the large version of this one.

The Falls (all of them) are totally frozen over. This makes the adventurers among us want to climb under them to see the rushing water beneath. There is no reasonable safe way to do this of course. View at 100% All my fotos are Geotagged. Yellowstone is GRAND from any perspective. BUT in WINTER a journey into the nation's deepfreeze is a fantastic exploration of the senses. It is silent (at first) and then if you sit quietly, the "deafening" silence turns into an awareness of nature, and you hear nature, just as you feel alive from the cold that bites your exposed flesh, if you stay awhile you will then see nature in the animals that make this comfortably home. At 3,472 square miles, the PARK is larger than the states of Rhode Island AND Delaware together it HAS SPACE to roam. I love the mist at the top of this picture, the air temperature is somewhere around 20 below zero Fahrenheit, so the mist does not have to be that warm.

A pair of bighorn sheep are seen near Gardiner, Montana just outside the park boundary of Yellowstone National Park.

Durango, CO - Engine 476 was built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in 1923 for Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW). It spent its days moving people and went into retirement in 1999.

For a while, it was a museum piece resting its wheels and took frequent naps. This all changed when in 2018, Engine 478 was pulled from retirement and placed back in service. Since then it rides with purpose, the engine continues to roar with pride through the mountains of Colorado.

The Crespi Lacrosse team is walking around their home track on February 14th to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. My boyfriend Blake Gaytan who is on the team told me about their cause and I really think what they are doing is an amazing thing. I along with the Lacrosse team as well as many other participants am going to also walk for this cause. Since I know that all of you cannot be there to walk with us I would really love if you could visit the following website to get more information and pledge.

i decided to delete the other one because this one is not as dark and bleak looking...and i think it has more of a symbolic message of hope. so in case you didn't see the other one and you have no idea what this is about. i'm interning at a battered women's shelter this semester and i'm helping them put together a course to educate emergency workers on what the signs of domestic violence are. i wanted to find a good intro image. this is a combination of two images.

you tell a kid not to do something, and their going to do it.

all they wanted to do all weekend was swim.

even though austin had a leech on his leg and was scared that every lake was infested with them.

there was an island in the middle of this lake, with a bridge leading up to it. my dad and I decided to leave them alone, we told them we'd be back in an hour, and they should be ready to go.

a.k.a. not drenched from head to toe.

we were off fishing and I kept wondering how they were doing on the other side of the lake, we could hear them yelling and screaming.

they must've been okay.

the more I started to think about it, I remembered how scared austin was about going into the mountains, he was sure that a bear or cougar was going to eat him, and when we got there > there was a sign saying "be bear aware" because bears often came near the lake during summer.

well here we are in summer.

on the other side of the lake.

it was a 10 minute walk back to the truck atleast.

then a 5 minute drive.

we got back to where they were, and all the cars were gone, everybody had left.

it wasn't a good time of day for catching anything, the fish weren't feeding.

and here they were, 2 kids soaking wet in a lake where bears often visited.

they came up to the truck, and I grabbed my camera.

my brother is glaring at my father.

I'm glad I caught it.

he's a funny kid.

The white rhinoceros, white rhino or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is the largest extant species of rhinoceros. It has a wide mouth used for grazing and is the most social of all rhino species. The white rhinoceros consists of two subspecies: the southern white rhinoceros, with an estimated 19,682–21,077 wild-living animals in the year 2015, and the much rarer northern white rhinoceros. The northern subspecies has very few remaining individuals, with only two confirmed left in 2018 (two females: Fatu, 18 and Najin, 29), both in captivity. Sudan, the world's last known male Northern white rhinoceros, died in Kenya on 19 March 2018 at age 45.

It is bitterly cold outside, and I took few photos inside. Now I used Topcor UV 50/2 for few days and

my impression about this lens changed a bit. If lighting is good, ISO low and I do not focus on things that are closer to the edge than the centre of the image, it is sharp even wide open. At least sharp enough for bokeh or portrait photography.

I was scouting out some vantage points at Ocean beach today when I saw someone sitting very very still for long periods of time out by the water. The marine layer was kind of blah today, but the sound of the surf and the sight of the huge rocks in the distance made for a very entrancing scene, so I can understand why someone would choose to meditate in this setting.

All comments, critiques and feedback both positive and negative welcome.

When I was 17 years old my whole world was shattered because my

dear Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her

she had come just in time and that if she had waited just 6 more months

it could have been too late to help her. My Mother endured chemotherapy,

and radiotherapy. She lost her hair, self-confidence and her left breast.

It is because of this very traumatic chapter in my life that I am today a nurse

at Stavanger University Hospital, Norway.

Cancer is a heavy and huge diagnosis for a patient and their family to accept.

There are a couple of big problems, in my opinion, that largely affect many people adversely. The first, as I see it, is the small number of Prevention Campaigns there are. More of these campaigns could educate and push people to use the methods and take the time to self-check themselves routinely. In many cases patients with various types of cancer the time and experience of the treatments can be fairly easy and effective if they are diagnosed in time. Another problem area I see is that

people wait too long to seek medical attention and then they must face the trauma when it's too late. I would also like to point out that it is a misconception that men do not develop breast cancer when in fact, men are equally confronted with it. It is unclear why this subject remains somewhat "taboo" still to today.

I am representing 2 organizations with this challenge. They are Breast Cancer Prevention (www.cancer.org) and Cherries On Top (shop.cherriesontop.org/). Cherries On Top is a globally targeted fund raising organization for research support and information campaigns in all types of cancer that affects Kids, Men and Women. I would like to plan an event to benefit both of these great causes. My plan on how to make this happen would involve friends of mine that are Second Life Voice Entertainers,

DJs, Designers, Agency Owners, Bloggers, and Models. Anyone and everyone I can ask to help I would try to secure for to make charity concerts, shows and other ideas that may come to mind. If these things can save someone's life it's worth whatever it takes to make it happen.
