Endangered Species
The eastern lesser bamboo lemur is also known as the gray bamboo lemur and the gray gentle lemur.
Grey in colour, sometimes with a red patch on its head. It averages 284 mm (11 in) in length with a tail of 37 mm (1.5 in).
As their name suggests, the eastern lesser bamboo lemurs feed mainly on bamboo and have more manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination than most lemurs. More than likely this is due to their preference for small but tasty bamboo shoots. While foraging through a thick stand of bamboo, searching for these tender bits, the bamboo lemur simply doesn’t have time for the typical lemur food searching strategy which is to sniff each and every potential bite. Instead, the bamboo lemur will stand in one spot, and visually scan the nearby foliage for that special shoot.
Only in the winter, when shoots are scarce, will the bamboo lemur eat a significant amount of mature bamboo leaves. At certain times of the year, bamboo accounts for 90% of their diet. At other times of the year berries, grass stems and other young leaves supplement this lemur’s diet.
They are vertical climbers and leapers. They prefer to maintain an upright position when traveling through the trees, and will do so by quickly jumping from one vertical bamboo stalk to another as they make their way through the thick bamboo forest. However, when on the ground, or a horizontal tree branch, the bamboo lemurs will move quadrupedally, galloping along like small cats.
The bamboo lemurs have a rich vocal repertoire, which includes an unusual call the females make as they are entering their yearly estrous period. They also have separate calls for aerial and ground predators and contact calls for short and long distances.
Bamboo lemur females come into estrus once a year, typical for a diurnal lemur. Single infants, and very rarely twins, are born after a gestation of some 140 days, longer than average for a lemur. Infant care is highly unusual in this species. From the day of birth the mother might “park” the infant on a small branch in the middle of the bamboo grove while she goes off foraging, returning periodically to groom and nurse the infant. The fact that the middle of a bamboo grove is a dense thicket protected from predators surely has aided in the evolution of this strategy. If the females need to transport the infant to another location, they do so by picking it up in their mouths and carrying it via this method.
Infants older than a couple of weeks will also often hop onto the mother’s neck and travel short distances thusly, but some mothers are extremely reluctant to transport their infants in this manner, and will nip at the infant until it hops off. In those cases, the mobile infant, especially when frightened, will simply jump onto the nearest group member, whether it is a sibling or its father. In fact, bamboo lemur juveniles and fathers play a more active role in infant care than is typical in lemurs.

A representative soil profile of the Tate series. The average content of semi-rounded rock fragments is as much as 35 percent in the solum and s much as 60 percent in the substratum. Depth to bedrock is more than 150 centimeters. (Soil Survey of Grayson County, Virginia; Robert K. Conner, Natural Resources Conservation Service)
The Tate series consists of very deep, well drained, moderately permeable soils on benches, fans, and toe slopes in coves in the Blue Ridge (MLRA 130). They formed in colluvium weathered from felsic to mafic high-grade metamorphic rocks. Mean annual temperature is 52 degrees F., and mean annual precipitation about 52 inches near the type location. Slope ranges from 2 to 50 percent.
TAXONOMIC CLASS: Fine-loamy, mixed, semiactive, mesic Typic Hapludults
Thickness of the solum ranges from 24 to more than 60 inches. Depth to bedrock is greater than 60 inches. Content of rock fragments is less than 35 percent by volume in the A and Bt horizons, and less than 60 percent in the BC and C horizons. The soil is very strongly acid to slightly acid unless limed. Content of mica flakes is few or common.
USE AND VEGETATION: About half is cleared and used for growing corn, small grain, tobacco, truck crops, and pasture. Common trees in forested areas are scarlet oak, white oak, yellow-poplar, eastern white pine, shortleaf pine, Virginia pine, and northern red oak. Understory plants include mountain-laurel, rhododendron, blueberry, greenbrier, flowering dogwood, black locust, honeysuckle, sourwood, and flame azalea.
DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: The Blue Ridge (MLRA 130) of North Carolina, Virginia, eastern Tennessee, and possibly Georgia and South Carolina. The series has large extent.

From the LSU Mammal Collection. These are meant to be more or less average size, but both vary widely enough that they can overlap in size.
The Paparazzi Bots is a series of five autonomous robots each standing at the height of the average human. Comprised of multiple microprocessors, cameras, sensors, code and robotic actuators on a custom-built rolling platform, they move at the speed of a walking human, avoiding walls and obstacles while using sensors to move toward humans. They seek one thing, which is to capture photos of people and to make these images available to the press and the world wide web as a statement of culture's obsession with the “celebrity image” and especially our own images. The flash autonomously goes off, capturing people’s photos and elevating them to “celebrity” in a kind of momentary anointing by the robots. The robots also become celebrities through their association to the “famous people” at the exhibition that are captured by the Paparazzi Bots.
Each autonomous robot can make the decision to take the photos of particular people, while ignoring other humans in the exhibition, based on things such as, whether or not the viewers are smiling or the shape of their smile. When the robots identify a person or group they will automatically adjust their focus and use a series of bright flashes to record that moment.
Surveillance technologies straddle a delicate balance that we have in contemporary culture, where we are all photographed without our knowledge by cell phones, hidden cameras and sometimes “celebritized”. This is a kind of modern baptism with the camera flash and the spectacle of being the focus of the camera becoming a kind of techno anointing.
This work explores ideas surrounding the shifting territories of self and machine and how machines can manipulate the other (us) in a grand co-evolutionary dance of emerging robot-human relations.
The recent emergence of social networks and their ability to connect people through software prompts via the world wide web is a prime example of the co-evolution of humans and their intelligent machines. The fact that the software prompts exploit our social needs for connectivity and social space is so easily exploited in this new critical juncture in our emerging machine human relations.
This camera can track your head and be set to take a photo if you smile mildly, medium-smile or pull-a-muscle smile. When set to smile mode, they do seem to prefer even smiles rather than crooked smiles so here the machine is making determinations about issues of "beauty". I have considered holding a robot beauty contest as an addition to this work.

The Iconic Ford Power Live Event took Place at Brands Hatch to Celebrate The Blue Badged Ford Motor Company and their Iconic Cars From both the Past and The Present. From Escort Mexico's to Modern Ford Mustang GT'S there was Everything for the Ford Enthusiast to enjoy.
The Support Races Featured During the Day were also Full of Different Makes and Models of Ford Racing Cars From The Focus RS to the Ford Escort and the Iconic Sierra Cosworth and even the Iconic Enduro KA series was Present and with Drivers and Spectators Ready the Racing was about to begin.

Clubman Sports Prototypes were up next and thease Mad Looking Machines are known for their Supreme Aerodynamics as well as Insane Straight Line Speed. each Driver will have to be on the ball and Keeping their Machine under Constant Control as they will be Powering round this 1,2 mile Indy Circuit at Speeds of at Least 90mph.

Next Up we take a Look to the Focus Cup Championship a Racing Series which Features the use of Ford Focus Road Cars Built to Racing Specifications. Thease Cars all Use The ZTEC 2.0 TDCI Engines and Have Proven to be Very Quick and also Very Twitchy when out Racing.

Next Up is the MSR Elise Trophy
with the Focus of this Race being on the Lotus Elise S1 S2 and S3 with Just One Qualifying Session and Just 1 Race This will be A Test of Will Power and Determination on the Track to see who can Take Victory.

In Second Place was (John Lamaster) in his Lotus Elise S2 135R with a Lap Time of 54.781 and an Average Speed of 66.75mph. Fantastic work John and So Great to see a New Face on the Podium Taking P2 what an Incredible Driver.
In Third Place was (David Alexander) in his Lotus Elise S1 with a Lap Time of 55.589 and an Average Speed of 66.62mph. Very Well Driven Dave Keeping an Eye out all over the Place and Bringing Home a Superb P3 Finish.

Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
Now it was Time to head Back to the Blue Badged Ford Machines Once again as the Modified Ford Series Rolled out onto the Race Track with each car being Heavily Modified from their Road Counterparts. With Escort Cosworth's and RS200's Roaring and Ready to go it was Time to see what the First Group A set of Drivers could do in Qualifying.
Due to how large the Grids were and the Fact that both Group A and Group B Have Different Races I will only be putting up results from both Qualifying Sessions from Group A and Group B. Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
In First Place Taking Pole Position and the Fastest Lap was (David Cockell) in his Ford Escort Cosworth with a Best Lap Time of 49.872 and a Top Speed of 87.19mph. Very Well Done David Keeping that Escort on the Track Must Have Taken some Practice no Doubt Amazing work on Getting Pole.
In Second Place was (Wayne Crabtree) in his Ford RS200 with a Best Lap Time of 51.121 and a Top Speed of 85.06mph. Very Fast Drive from Wayne to take P2 and a Very Solid Drive Thought.

Now it was Time for Group B to make a stance and see what their Modified Ford Racing Machines could do. with How Fast and Action Packed Group A Had Been During both The Races and Qualifying Group B was looking to be much the Same.

The Final Qualifying Session of the Day Had Come and its the Enduro KA'S. with all of the Cars on the Grid being Models of the Popular Ford KA made Between 1998-2009 thease Cars were Fun City cars that could get you from A to B with Ease. They were Also Build on a tight budget meaning that Handling Performance and Comfort were a Big Selling point of thease Brilliant little cars.
The Racing Versions seen here in the pictures however are built for Racing. they use different tyres but still the same Legendary 1.3 Dura Tec Engine found in their Road Going Counterparts.

Unless there are distributed power units within or at the end of the train, the loco's coupler is taking all that force. Amazing.
Surrounding the coupler are all kids of air lines and electrical cables so the engineer can control all the brakes on the rest of the cars. So, it's not just "banging them together."

The osprey is one of the most widespread birds of prey and can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
Ospreys are superb fishers and indeed eat little else—fish make up some 99 percent of their diet. Because of this appetite, these birds can be found near ponds, rivers, lakes, and coastal waterways around the world. Ospreys hunt by diving to the water's surface from some 30 to 100 feet (9 to 30 meters) up. They have gripping pads on their feet to help them pluck fish from the water with their curved claws and carry them for great distances. In flight, ospreys will orient the fish headfirst to ease wind resistance.
Ospreys are sometimes confused with bald eagles, but can be identified by their white underparts. Their white heads also have a distinctive black eyestripe that goes down the side of their faces. Eagles and ospreys frequent similar habitats and sometimes battle for food. Eagles often force osprey to drop fish that they have caught and steal them in midair.
Human habitat is sometimes an aid to the osprey. The birds happily build large stick-and-sod nests on telephone poles, channel markers, and other such locations. Artificial nesting platforms are common in areas where preservationists are working to reestablish the birds. North American osprey populations became endangered in the 1950s due to chemical pollutants such as DDT, which thinned their eggshells and hampered reproduction. Ospreys have rebounded significantly in recent decades, though they remain scarce in some locales.
Most ospreys are migratory birds that breed in the north and migrate south for the winter. They lay eggs (typically three), which both parents help to incubate. Osprey eggs don't hatch all at once, but are staggered in time so that some siblings are older and more dominant. When food is scarce these stronger birds may take it all and leave their siblings to starve.
It was a Cold and Wet October when Brands Hatch Played Host to the Formula Ford Festival in 2021 and Yet despite the Bad Weather it was a Very Important Year for the Festival as it was Celebrating its 50th Anniversary into the World of Motorsport.
Its Hard to Imagine that 50 Years Ago on July 2nd 1967 is when the First Official Race for Formula Ford took Place and with it came a Brand New Set of Rules Cars and Drivers all Competing to Earn their way into Formula 1 from Formula Ford.

BRSCC Formula Ford Festival (Qualifying Heat 1)
Formula Ford Racing Cars are built to be Very Nimble but also Very Fragile and when thease cars Race Close Together they Put on One Hell of a Good Show when they Visit Brands Hatch every Year and with this Year being the 50th Anniversary of the Series it made for a Special Weekend of History and Racing with a Tent in the Top Paddock Showcasing the Many Different Formula Fords thought History that Have both Raced and Won in the Hands of Many Great Former Champions.
Many of them all Have a Very Different Look and Design about them as each Driver and Team works together in order to try and Best Optimise the Airflow and Handling of their Cars.
During Qualifying Heat 1 there were Many Drivers all out there Pushing Hard and trying to get the Fastest Times they Possibly Could.

Next Up The Mazda MX5's Made their way onto the Circuit and with a Huge Grid of 34 Cars and Only One Man who could Achieve People Position the Battles During Qualifying for the Fastest Lap were Going to be Fast and Very In tense.
In First Place was (Steve Foden) in his MX5-MK1 with a Lap Time of 1:08.161 and a Top Speed of 63.79mph. Very Good work there Steve in Very Damp and Wet Conditions that was an Incredible Pole Position Lap.
In Second Place was (Brian Trott) in his Mazda MX5-MK1 with a Lap Time of 1:08.177 and a Top Speed of 63.78mph. Fantastic Work there Brian Pushing Hard and Making sure to Keep Pace with Steve.
In Third Place was (Michel Knibbs) in his Mazda MX5-MK1 with a Lap Time of 1:08.211 and a Top Speed of 63.75mph. Nice work there Michel a Very Good Drive for 3rd Position on the Grid.

In Second Place was (Richard Amos) in his Mazda MX5-MK3 with a Lap Time of 1:06.350 and a Top Speed of 65.54mph. Very Well Done Richard a Well Deserved Second Place on the Gird.
In Third Place was (James Cossins) in his Mazda MX5-MK3 with a Lap Time of 1:06.410 and a Top Speed of 65.48mph. Amazing Work James Beating Back Samuel to take 3rd Place on the Grid from Him.
Another Super Qualifying Session that Added some Real Twists to the Race and will no Doubt Make it even more Interesting to See other Drivers such as Jack and Samuel Having to Fight there way through the Gird in order to be in with a Chance of Getting on the Top Step of the Podium.

With Both Qualifying Sessions Having Come to an End it was Finally Time to see out of all of the Drivers who would be able to Achieve Victory and take that All Important Pole Position in Race 1. With the Likes of Jack and Samuel in 8th and 4th Respectively Will they Be able to Fight there way through the Field?
In First Place Taking the Win was (Jack Harding) in his Mazda MX5-MK3 with a Best Lap Time of 57.803 and an Average Speed of 57.32mph. What an Incredible Drive from Jack who Started in 8th Place and has come through to Claim His First Win of the Weekend. A Truly Magnificent Drive and a Well Deserving One. Congratulations Jack.
In Second Place was (James Cossins) in his Mazda MX5-MK3 with a Best Lap Time of 57.981 and an Average Speed of 57.23mph. Super Driving from James who started 3rd and Had gained a Place Promoting Him to Second Place. A Fantastic Drive there James.
In Third Place was (Samuel Smith) in his Mazda MX5-MK3 with a Best Lap Time of 57.958 and an Average Speed of 57.21mph. Very Well Deserved for Samuel who Fought Hard to Finish On the Podium.
