They used to be a staple item in my purse, wherever I go.... until I woke up one day and realized Life is too awesome to waste just because of a stupid ♥ attack from smoking.

Meant to post this yesterday, but I was having too much fun. Oops.

Just playing around with the soldiers, a leftover flag from the jubilee and the bright sunshine in the conservatory. I want to replicant it while I'm controlling the lighting at some point.

Elsie is a fierce little huntress, her quarry didn't stand a chance - she snapped it like a twig :) Actually, Elsie isn't a very proficient or enthusiastic killer of anything much (which is absolutely fine by me - especially as I have a pet hamster!). She quite often seems to frighten herself, even when playing with inoffensive toys - like string, or scrunched up paper. She'll do the lying in wait part, eyes big as saucers, wiggling her back end in excitement, next she pounces on her "prey" and then... she runs away from it very fast and has a mad five minutes zooming up and down the stairs, or racing around the garden. I was quite surprised she stuck around to dispatch this twig - she really did snap it half! Anything for a photo :)

Given how wimpy she can be around small stuff - live or otherwise - you might think Elsie was a push-over of a cat. She's not though, far from it! Elsie is an attacker of human feet (mostly in the middle of the night). She is guardian of the stairs (walk carefully by her, or she'll smack even the biggest human!) She stares down our large chickens without fear. She makes Barney cower in fear and human children flinch from just her gaze!

We had a terrier, Wally, who's a committed cat-chaser visit last year. I shut Elsie in the garden, locking her cat flap. Wally raced through the house and started yapping through the clear door. Slowly, the yapping died down... I peeped out, Elsie was sitting just on the other side, glaring in, growling like a motorbike. She obviously had NO intention of backing down. Wally went from enthusiastic hunter to cowed in the space of a few moments - she made a hasty retreat, Elsie wandered off to go sun herself! No-one can mess with Elsie (unless, it seems, maybe if you're mouse-sized).

The title here comes from a phone conversation I had, when I called the company Barney-dog is insured with, to get Elsie covered too. I told the lady on the phone Elsie was a cat, her age etc. Then she apologised and said she had a requirement to ask me: Was my CAT used for racing... or trained to attack? Errr... NO!! So silly but it did give me a good laugh, plus, racing cats could be pretty fun and trained attack cats? I guess they'd be scary - when they weren't asleep!!

Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) Michaelbrook Pond, Kelowna, BC.

This fella was definitely acting like Pond Boss, intimidating the Buffleheads, and then, when he spotted me, swimming right at me as if to chase me off, too....

From Wikipedia: "Muskrats are found over most of Canada and the United States and a small part of northern Mexico. They were introduced to Europe in the beginning of the 20th century and have become an invasive species in northwestern Europe. They mostly inhabit wetlands, areas in or near saline and freshwater wetlands, rivers, lakes, or ponds. They are not found in the state of Florida, where the round-tailed muskrat, or Florida water rat (Neofiber alleni), fills their niche.

Their populations naturally cycle; in areas where they become abundant, they are capable of removing much of the vegetation in wetlands. They are thought to play a major role in determining the vegetation of prairie wetlands in particular. They also selectively remove preferred plant species, thereby changing the abundance of plant species in many kinds of wetlands. Species commonly eaten include cattail and yellow water lily. Alligators are thought to be an important natural predator, and the absence of muskrats from Florida may in part be the result of alligator predation.

While much wetland habitat has been eliminated due to human activity, new muskrat habitat has been created by the construction of canals or irrigation channels, and the muskrat remains common and widespread. They are able to live alongside streams which contain the sulfurous water that drains away from coal mines. Fish and frogs perish in such streams, yet muskrats may thrive and occupy the wetlands. Muskrats also benefit from human persecution of some of their predators.

The muskrat is classed as a "prohibited new organism" under New Zealand's Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, preventing it from being imported into the country.

Trematode Metorchis conjunctus can also infect muskrats."

We've all seen what these feisty birds are capable of when defending young. No fear!

Nikon D4 | ISO 2000 | 70-200mm lens at 125mm | f / 2.8 | 1/1600 second. I have taken to sitting behind the west goal at Sporting Park to the right of the just within the box and waiting for the action to come to me. When it does, I don't need a super long lens and I can see right into the faces of the athletes. It was wicked hot and humid last night for the Colorado Rapids v. Sporting KC match and I found a lot of action right in front of me. The only problems was wiping the sweat out of the view finder so I could see.

ive been getting into the aliens (horror sci-fi ) movies and such for a couple of weeks now, and i decided to make some minifigs, by the way im still working on the vietnam stuff, just decided to make a couple of other projects on the side, ill continue to make some more xenomorph stuff when i have more time, thanks guys ,

An entry for Loreos' LC3 on Classic-Castle.

A band of outlaws from the southern lands are sailing up Roawia's eastern coast in multiple light, swift vessels to raid the people of Loreos. This particular band are commonly known as the Grimson Skull, and are made up of Orks, Trolls, fell men and various outcast creatures, rejected by the three provinces. Here we see them launching a surprise attack on the small fortified post of Bardurk, Where the Loreesi soldiers rush to the beach to fight the outlaws in hand-to-hand combat. After all, Captain Lancorv, commander in charge of Bardurk, doesn't believe in firing arrows from the safety of his fortification's walls, he fights, as he puts it, "like a true Loreesi".

by the giant palm frond!

There are two huge palm trees across the street. They are perhaps 80 or 100 feet tall. They tower well above the telephone poles. When the wind blows they drop these fronds all over the neighborhood.

Following an unprecedented series of shark attacks off Australian beaches, the need to find practical solutions is intensifying.

Aerial drones could be an important tool for reducing risk of shark attacks on our beaches within the coming years. Here’s how it would work. Drones would fly...
