Nigerians massively fled across the border with Niger when insurgents of Boko Haram attacked their town, Damassak, on 24 November 2014. The makeshift camp op Gagamari in Diffa region counts 16,000 refugees. Following a string of attacks along the border, the government of Niger has declared a humanitarian emergency and asked organisations for help in setting up camps. The violence in North-east Nigeria has resulted in the displacement of 150,000 people to neighbouring countries - a majority of which are in Niger - and over 1.5 million people in Nigeria itself. The European Commission humanitarian aid and civil protection department (ECHO) supports various UN agencies and NGOs to provide urgently needed assistance, but needs are immense and access is difficult. I killed my old camera with apple juice a couple of weeks ago. I got a new camera yesterday! This is the first flickr picture from the new camera. Not surprisingly, it's of Katie (leaping on top of me like a wild animal). I was lying on the floor (having been pushed there).

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R Time Attack at Gatebil Festival - Våler, Norway.

Morning following sniper attack on downtown Dallas Police and peaceful protest, the city assembled at Thanksgiving Square. Captured these images depicting our hurting city and police force. I still believe that we are not as divided and individually terminally unique as some may believe..

I was out trying to shoot damselfly portraits. I hadn't seen this damselfly until I disturbed him and he flew straight into a spiders web. I had a split second to decide if I should save him.

The spider ran down his web and attacked the thrashing damselfly (when this was taken). He was dead within 60 seconds. The spider then dragged him up the web to the undersurface of a dried flower that the web was built from. Hidden from view he then went to work on his prey.

I felt a bit bad, but there were several other webs with the remains of damsels in them.

Nissan Stadium / Riverfront - Marine Week – Downtown Nashville, Tennessee

The Marines invaded Downtown Nashville for a week back in September. The event was called Marine Week. I was fortunate to have some time to capture some images over a 3 day period. One of these days included a memorial for the 911 victims. By chance, I managed to capture some photos of US Senator Bob Corker and the Mayor of Nashville, Megan Barry. I was also fortunate to catch a mock invasion by air and sea. Out of almost 80 images, I will be posting just a few on Flickr. You can read about my adventure and see many more photos on my blog. Set back and enjoy the slideshow! I had a blast capturing these images. To go directly to my blog, click the link here: www.shutteringthrulife.com/marine-week-in-nashville-oorah/

This shot is kind of weird. All I really remember is that when I noticed Logan put his head down like this I thought 'better get out of the way!' and tried to snap this before I got caught in the tussle of Tim Brooks, Doogie and Logan. The result is a floating Logan head on the attack!

In the year 858 AD the Vikings, with a fleet of more than 60 ships commanded by Hastings and Björn Jaernside, son of the legendary Ragnar Lodbrog, went around the Iberian peninsula, reached the village of Orihuela in eastern Spain and conquered its castle. At that historical moment most of the peninsula was dominated by Muslims who saw with disbelief the arrival of these northern warriors.

Based on this historical moment The Brickstons along with several friends of the LUG ALE built this diorama of the Vikings reaching a village in the south-east of Spain. The diorama was presented at the ALEBricks event held on June 2nd and 3rd, 2018.

The Brickstons Group: Alfonso Abeger (FonsoSac), Pepi Blas, Julio César Cedena, Domingo Hidalgo, Luis López, Emiliano Martínez (Legófito), Victor Martínez (Loko / Nouvilas) and their friends: César Ivan Acero, Luismi Bartolomé, Juan Manuel Boillos, Antonio J. Fernández (Lord Jerome), David Horcajada y David Valderrama have taken part in the diorama.
