I found some of these gold pens with different color pocket clips and I liked the contrast from the silver to the gold. I also held the viewer near the edge of the paper to create the black diamonds for contrast. This was also prepared for NaNoWriMo.

The Pont de Zähringen crosses the Sarine River into Fribourg and close to its Cathédrale St-Nicolas.

Fribourg’s Cathédrale St-Nicolas is the focal point of the medieval city’s heart, with a soaring Gothic spire commanding the skies above the old town.

Construction began in the 13th century, but was not completed until 1490. In all that time, it has remained home to the city’s Catholic congregation, despite the majority of Switzerland converting to Protestantism during the Reformation.

The exterior is dominated by the lacy tower, the 368 steps of which can be climbed for views out over the city and to the Alps beyond, while the interior is in the Swiss Gothic style, with numerous statues and reliefs.

There is a 15th century sculpted portrayal of the Last Judgement around the main portal, while inside there are 15th century wooden choir stalls and an organ played by Franz Liszt, as well some art nouveau stained-glass windows.

After the First World War, an appropriate way had to be found of commemorating those members of the Royal Navy who had no known grave, the majority of deaths having occurred at sea where no permanent memorial could be provided.

An Admiralty committee recommended that the three manning ports in Great Britain - Chatham, Plymouth and Portsmouth - should each have an identical memorial of unmistakable naval form, an obelisk, which would serve as a leading mark for shipping. The memorials were designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, who had already carried out a considerable amount of work for the Commission, with sculpture by Henry Poole. The Portsmouth Naval Memorial was unveiled by the Duke of York (the future George VI) on 15 October 1924.

After the Second World War it was decided that the naval memorials should be extended to provide space for commemorating the naval dead without graves of that war, but since the three sites were dissimilar, a different architectural treatment was required for each. The architect for the Second World War extension at Portsmouth was Sir Edward Maufe (who also designed the Air Forces memorial at Runnymede) and the additional sculpture was by Charles Wheeler, William McMillan, and Esmond Burton. The Extension was unveiled by the Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother on 29 April 1953.

Portsmouth Naval Memorial commemorates around 10,000 sailors of the First World War and almost 15,000 of the Second World War.

The government of the Swiss Confederation has been based in the Bundeshaus (Parliament) in Bern since the building was completed in 1902.

Built to the plans of architect Hans Wilhelm Auer in the Neo-Renaissance style, it is home to both the National Council and the Council of States, with each of the country’s cantons represented.

Guided tours are available in many languages, allowing you to look around both of the chambers and the impressive domed hall which stands between them and beneath the copped-topped dome seen from the outside.

The parliament is fronted by the Bundesplatz, where 23 water jet fountains – one for each of the cantons – shoot up into the air from the pavement every day.
