Jackson, California is located in the heart of the state's former gold-mining district in the Sierra Nevada foothills. It is the county seat of Amador County.
At the top of the picture, can be seen the great diffuser, which stopped direct sunlight entering the arena, via the glass central portion of the main roof, and gave a more even spread of light. The glass section has now been replaced, and acoustical mushrooms are suspended from the ceiling, to cut out the echo.
The facades of the buildings along Rue St-Paul in Old Montreal have been equipped with lights to brighten up the street and show off the lovely architectural details.

In the November 30, 1909 edition of The Statesboro News, the following advertisement ran:
Portal on the S.A. & N. RY is one of the coming towns of Bulloch County. A few months ago it was a cotton patch, now a booming town with ten stores and handsome residences, and public enterprise. Do you want to rent or lease a nice brick store at the place?
Perhaps the least known, but most attractive, of the great Victorian Cemeteries of London. Consecrated in 1840, it is one of the seven great Victorian cemeteries established in a ring around the outskirts of London. It contains examples of the magnificent monuments erected in memory of the most eminent citizens of the day, which contrast sharply with the small, simple headstones marking common, or public, burials. It's formal avenue of towering limes and the Gothic gloom of the original Victorian planting gives way to paths which recall the country lanes of a bygone era.

In 1946, the New York Life Insurance Company bought the 175-acre Fresh Meadow Country Club (opened 1923) for development as housing. Designed with people in mind, it consists mostly of two-storey row houses, three- to four-storey walkups and two thirteen-storey apartment towers.
