Senior mechatronics majors Carlos Miguel, left, and Lely Le Gonzalez work with Dr. Brenton Wilburn, California University of Pennsylvania robotics engineering technology professor, using ANSYS simulation software to model products.

I'm convinced some of my friends back home are WAITING for an "Ansy Moment" adventure. Oh my. There are always loads. Even before getting on the bus to the airport, that was a classic Ansy Moment [I purchased the wrong bus/coach tickets, didn't turn up for it, wrote down the wrong times, turned up to the next coach time only to find out I missed it and had the wrong bus, so had to fork out for the tickets all over again. Pah! But my mother went ape! But I'm here now right?!]

But here, I had just finished showering, and as you do, you naturally open the window [I'd shower with the window open, but people CAN see in...] So I opened it, and I thought it'd be better to push the metal "mesh" screen to one side too, to let the air come flowing in [so darn hot over here!]

And then... get this... somehow, the screen gets loose [I was aware of this before, cos I found this the case in my bedroom, only there was a nice metal windowsill bar thing for putting plants on etc]

But somehow, the bathroom window metal mesh screen came really lose, and before I could be quick enough [not tall enough as it is] I couldn't grab onto it, and before I realised anything, it was taken away by gravity.

I thought, oh I can't hear anything, it seems fine, maybe there's like a plastic sheet or net or sponge material just in case we drop anything from the fifth floor.

But after what seemed like a minute [it was more like 2 nano seconds] I heard a crash and a car alarm went off!!!!

Oh my goodness....

So I quickly sprung out of the bathroom, [fully clothed of course, I was fulled clothed when the incident happened..!] and notified the couple I am staying with currently...

After 3 minutes the car alarm sounded like it had either been switched off, or it realised nobody was gunna come along and give it attention so went silent. Hmm. Still didn't know which option tho

So the couple am staying with decided to go downstairs to go on a quest to find the metal mesh window screen! They came back up with it, and told me there was a teeny weeny small dent on the rood of the car downstairs, there was nobody there, but they figured they should leave a note, like good Christians.

I was tempted to tell them to leave it.

But the funny thing was, we had decided to write it in ENGLISH because well, not many people can speak English or read it well enough. And if they really really wanted the trouble, they'd call us to sort something out...! But considering we were foreigners, they probably wont... haha... Let alone understand it!

And after writing the note, I went down with her, and went to inspect the dent and to

take a photo for the sake of it!

A classic Ansy moment, I'll tell ya. My first Ansy Moment in this country! Excellent. I'm certain there'll be plenty more. But this one was scary cos it was something I dropped from the fifth floor, luckily nobody was hurt [except for the car]. Thinking about dropping things down from a great height scares me a little... I'm a little weak in the knees now while I am re-living the incident and typing it out! Argh...

This is part of the "Where's Ansy?" game. If you know me in reality, please do not ruin the fun for all my flickr friends, and blurt out dumbly the location I am currently in... If you do, I will think of something really terrible to do to you

Following on from last Sunday, that's Day 202, after my little adventure of being forced to learn how to ride a bike...

Today the lessons continued, much to my dismay, and again, laden with more excuses...

However, after about 20 minutes trying to get my balance, and feel of just riding along [with both feet scooting me forwards], practising what I had learnt last week, I somehow managed to control my balance and off I went, peddling along!

As it turns out, I never knew you could use the turny-bit of the bike to help you find your balance when you start to put your feet on the peddles!

Shau was saying "Shall we call it a day?" after 20 minutes going up and down the street, until... Finally I built up some momentum and got there!

Hurray!

So I can officially say, loud and boldly, Ansy can now ride a bike!

I must say it's all thanks to Shau and Mel, supporting and standing there on stand-by just in case I fell over, they were being forceful and sometimes I need a bit of force to get motivated... But it was through their perserverence that I too perservered, so thanks Shau and Mel :) Praise the Lord!

Now that I've gotten over this hurdle in life, having now found balance on two wheels. I can go onto bigger and better things. Like a real scooter! ;) [perhaps by the end of this year? Hmmm!] much to my mother's dismay.

Still, more practising on a bike me thinks. I have yet to learn how to ride up and down hill. Meh. And I can only do right-hand turns, not left. But still... I can still ride a bike finally! Hurrah! Nobody can mock me now! Mwhahaha!

I'm not mad. Everyone else is mad.

Agree with me. Or I'll bite you.

No no. Don't get the men with white jackets in here. No. Please. Not them.

PT&P provided a cable tray support rack to a groundwater treatment facility in California. Groundwater remediation is a process whereby groundwater is purified by removing pollutants and containments rendering the water useful for crop irrigation and industrial processes. Groundwater remediation techniques can include but are not limited to, oxygen gas injection, dual-phase extraction, membrane separation, carbon absorption, and chemical oxidation. Cable trays, used in this facility, were designed to suspend electrical cables, wiring, and small-bore piping throughout the facility. Cable trays are also used in biochemical plants, solar power plants, sports stadiums, green energy plants, as well as, traditional plants such as petroleum refineries, chemical and coal-fired power plants. As a general rule, cable trays protect and carry cable and wiring from point "A" to "B" inside the facility.

This section of cable tray in the photograph (blue in color) is 25’ long, 7’ wide, and 11’ tall completely assembled. It is fabricated from carbon steel and painted with a highly chemically resistant epoxy mastic designed for immersion conditions to protect against corrosion in marine or industrial conditions. PT&P can fabricate any combination of instrument stands and structural supports from floor mounts, wall mounts to secondary supports, and more. In addition, we have the capabilities to do what few other structural fabricators can do including:

- Complete Engineering designs including FEA (Ansys) and Structural Engineering (STAAD)

- Load Testing

- Incorporation of Contact Corrosion Solutions including TPI (half-round thermoplastic) and FRP

- Incorporation of Vibration Control Solutions

- Ability to fabricate with a wide variety of metals including all grades of Stainless and Nickel Super Alloys

PT&P has worked on and is working on some of the largest water remediation projects in the US where we have supplied expansion joints, variables, fire protection insulated supports, and structural pipe supports. Our ASME shop is large, local to the United States, and includes heavy-duty equipment and specially trained personnel with over 45 years of experience making this division of PT&P ideal for large-scale projects such as this structural support as we can leverage our massive manufacturing scale and expertise.

[nb: read the tags, they tell a short story or description]

I was bored and getting ansy for some picture taking and after finishing the sake there wasn't much left to photograph with that hadn't been captured already. See Y's photo.

I went to sleep with plaits in my hair, wet plaits may I add. Just to get the frizzy hair look, cos I was going to see on old high school friend tomorrow to shoot her newborn. But then it got postponed.

So frizz hair here it is.

I like frizz hair now and then.

I think this is one of the few shots that had three of us in, taken yesterday. It was all mainly shots with the two-denim-wearing folks. And me behind my camera (yay for being behind my camera. I've missed it so much! And am grateful I have been catching up with the whole shooting-behind-camera-ordeal, for the past couple of weeks!)

Yesterday was spent doing an Engagement-Pre-Wedding shoot with two good friends.

A lot of photos. But relatively relaxed. Tiring, but the two were refreshed after their long-haul flight.

This is exactly why I love shooting couples, they're always so romantic!

On the other hand, they asked me some really interesting questions, some things I never knew about myself and my love of photography... Goodstuff.

[youtube]wuZXAznjuzg[/youtube]

Image one: but you have no evidence that I ate them....

Image two: ok, you caught me...

In Chinese, there's this saying [which I'll translate for y'all]: stealing food to eat, but not wiping your mouth [aka wiping away the evidence, quite literally!]

Well... Anyway.... That was yum. *hic*

Just a little reminder that I should actually be dieting. :(

I simply didn't bother spending too much time getting "that look" in this shot, because well, figured I'd quickly get a shot for day 52 before midnight struck-before my time was up for today.

Didn't really take any photos, nonewhatsoever when I went to London and Oxford with Teresa [arriving in London last evening and making day trip to Oxford then home].... Spent most of my spare time on the bus reading the book displayed in the above photo.

And I simply refused to read the ending on a bus, so waited to read the last few chapters in the sanctuary of my own bedroom, upon one's comfy bed, snuggled up warm, and simply within arm's-reach of the tissue-paper.

Yup, I cried (!) to children's literature!!! [but then again you could argue an average kid would find it very difficult to understand the thick and complex plot of such literature! what with such complex language...] but yep. I cried.

Thanks for not revealing the ending to me too, btw, and I too, will simply not reveal the ending to anyone else either [unless of course you've read the ending, and you're simply up for a nice little discussion on the books and whatnot].

In conclusion, I'm going to miss the adventures of holding a Harry Potter book in my hand in the future [just reading it for the first time, not knowing what'll happen next]. Damn these books have played a part in my previous years and summers... Worth another 365 shot me thinks...

Gosh I love Harry Potter.

Meet Monsieur Franc.

He's a happy chappy, especially when he's been fed.

He also needs a shave.

And a haircut whilst we're at it.

And wow, I never realised he had dimples! So cute!

So here is Monsieur Franc, who's vocabulary consists of "Je Suis Hungre!" "I'm hungry" "Feed me!" "Feed me now!" and "burp, pardon me".

Home to Richard and Phil in my time) who were both sterling chaps in my book, although, always favouring the girls.

The sight of it sends shudders down my spine. Ansys, Ice PIC and Pascal.

So apparently, here, especially in these older buildings, the drainage system isn't all too great. [obv. cos I am temporarily staying in an older building!]

But generally most buildings are like old anyway.

So apparently, when going to the toilet, you have to do your business, wipe [if girl, both numbers 1 and 2; if boy generally you just wipe when number 2].

you wipe, then you DO NOT throw the toilet paper you had just used down the toilet, but rather... most toilets in this country will most definitely have a bin beside it.

Why? Not just for the general female usage [throwing away female stuff, post toilet, monthly yada yada yada] but simply for you to throw away the tissue you had wiped your butt with.

why is this?

The old buildings are old, and well toilet paper doesnt flush away well enough. the pipes and drainage systems are old, hence why suddenly I need to do something different, which I'm so not used to, breaking free from the habit I have built up since my early days of potty training:

not throwing my used toilet paper down the drain, but rather in the bin beside you.

Even if you've done a number 1 or number 2, you still have to throw it in the bin beside you.

So the toilets dont flush the tissue away, but you'd be amazed, cos somehow, miraculously it flushes the poo away though! lol.

Anyway. Since arriving here, I have accidentally thrown the toilet paper in, and many a time I am successful at quickly picking it back up cos it hadn't gone down too deep, or touched the waters! However, this is not the case right now, it just slipped right in right before I could fish it back out and throw into the bin by the side.

Or I usually throw it straight into the drain when I'm peeing half-asleep... and then I remember when I flush! doh.

But it's difficult trying to break your toilet habit regarding tissue paper, all because the paper doesn't flush well.

And it's true. You flush it down there, hoping to hide the evidence, but the paper always pops back up and starts swimming before your very own eyes. And it remains there for the next 4-5 flushes. How annoying.

So there we have it! The toilet habits.

This is part of the "Where's Ansy?" game. If you know me in reality, please do not ruin the fun for all my flickr friends, and blurt out dumbly the location I am currently in... If you do, I will think of something really terrible to do to you

It's a guard for bananas... not for anything else you sick and perverted foos!!

My bestfriend got me this banana guard for Christmas. A really thoughtful gift, because of the bad experiences I had been through regarding banana scum! (She totally understands too, because she's been through the same thing!)

The following are excerpts from my facebook wall-to-wall messages... hehe:

Ansy: mum walked into my bedroom and was in a state of shock, she picked up this yellow "thing" and assumed it to be a vibrator or something of a sexual content... you should've seen her face!!!! mind you, you should've seen my face when I was trying to figure out what it was, all packaged up in the chrimbo gift wrap! i was like.... my goodness alison has been wasting money in ann summers?! what the heck?! is this battery operated?!

Alison: I should imagine your first thought was "uh oh, forgot to stock up on batteries" :) Although me and the bro were trying our hardest not to laugh at the final wrapping! I could've put it in a box but that would've been boring!

MC, UE, Ansys Groundbreaking Ceremony, November 4 2016

So day 3 brings about something controversial. I used to really center my whole life around horoscopes, fortune-telling and predictions and what not. Even a Magic-8 ball seems like a great ball in which to ask questions to.

It's so interesting to want to know what the future holds, is it not? So much so we focus our lives according to "what the fortune teller said...." and bla bla bla.

But have you ever stopped and thought about, if we all knew what each of us had in store for our future, where'd the spontaneity be? Would life be wonderful and happy? Carefree from disaster or back-up-contingency plans?

Even though I'm a Christian, I have to admit sometimes I have the temptation to want to know what will happen. Who doesn't? But where's the fun in life when you know everything about the future? After all, horoscopes aren't 100% true. Just a matter of chance for teaching suckers how to chose something. Likewise, the magic-8 ball is only a matter of probability. No?

So here stands Ansy, about to whack the magic-8 ball with her hammer, after she asked it what she should do for a Day 3 idea for a selfie... And it didn't exactly give her much of an answer... Hum...

But that's just my own view about all this... So keep those voodoo needles to yourselves...

View it large here.

Joe Manich hands Secretary Cortés one of 2007 Siembra awards given by the PMAHCC board. This award tries to recognize those whose work in the community is helping the latino community.

Next we went to the headquarters of Vivísimo in the heart of Sq. Hill in Pittsburgh. Vivisimo makes search software that powers USA.gov and 100+ other sites. Pictured here with Secretary Cortés is Vivísimo's CEO Raúl Valdés.

On Monday we went to a "Phat Camp" (Phat standing for "Praise Him All Together")

Us Team Cardiff girls, all got together and worked at double quick speed, working as a team making some name badges: cutting, writing, assembling with the metal-badge-maker machine. It was awesome stuff.

I was pretty much bossing all the girls around and taking credit for it all [not]... heh.

And then Mel and I dished them out to all the small group leaders. All that was left were badges for my small group. So I copied Mel. She had all her badges attached to her t-shirt, more or less on her belly area [a baggy t-shirt nonetheless]. I, on the other hand, wearing a [slightly] fitted tee, attached it above my bosoms. [not on tho! yep, check the photo out].

And I went to a nearby table shortly after this photo was taken, during dinner time, to try and hunt down kids from my team.

Only I made the mistake. I asked:

"Hey do you guys all have your name badges?"

"No..." say a load of boys.

"Can you see your name on my chest?"

It was only then did I realise what I had JUST asked these teenage boys. There they were, eyes goggling on my chest. And I went bright red, and tried to dig and cover my ludicrous mistake of telling them to find their name badges ON my chest! I pulled my tee out... and stated dumbly "Ok... maybe not... Moving on".

And then I quickly ran back to my cardiff girls and they all roared with laughter at my stupidity of getting the boys to find their names on my chest. Only Ansy would do such a thing...!

AND I had my camera, with strap put ACROSS my bosoms (like you would do with a bag... across the chest type of thing)...

Sigh... Never again. The cardiff girls just laughed at me and my stupidity.

So I put off all these badges, and just placed them on my palms and continued to walk round [post embarrassment] hunting down my group members...!!!

As a typical girl, I love shoes. I just do.

I remember when I was 13 and I turned up to school with a pair of shoes like these ones (my taste in dolly shoes still remain), and people looked at me funny. In those days being a 13 year old you had to conform to any pattern, just-to-fit in. But I guess there was an element of me, just a little bit that didn't really care. We call this individualism. And at 13 it had just about started. I just didn't care if my shoes looked odd and didn't fit in. They were cool. And I'll have you know, as I grew up, people accepted that I was different, and I could just about get away with anything.

Today I don't give a damn if I'm different.

I'm Chinese. A Christian. Short and slightly overweight. And I don't give a damn. There's just one of me.

Next we took the Secretary to the heart of downtown Pittsburgh to visit Allegheny County Excecutive, Dan Onorato. Mr. Onorato is a great friend of the Chamber and we are very grateful for the time that he gave us.
