It is useful to have external access to the tape guide contact signal, the one that indicates the end of the announcement tape. I therefore removed the 5 pin DIN socket (used for a microphone) from the announcement recording PCB to replace it with the 7 pin one seen next to the PCB here. I removed the coupling capacitor too, for better access.

I don't have any (human) children, and now that I am 40, maybe I never will. :( I love taking pictures and people my age always want to know what the heck I take pictures of if I don't have any kids. "My cat, I guess" was always my standard answer. And as much as I love my "baby" Rudolph, honestly, we are both a little tired of all the feline themed snapshots. That is one of the reasons I joined this group and have thoroughly enjoyed it - it has definitely helped to get the old creative juices flowing.
Thanks everyone for a great year and I'm really looking forward to more (and less cat pictures) in 2013!!

When I first started the artists answer essential questions project, I wanted to experiment with pareidolia: a concept in which objects and such depict familiar images rather than their intended image to the viewer. It was a great idea and I was definitely looking forward to experiment with it. However, it was taking me awhile to identify the “natural pareidolia” I was looking for. Because of this, I made the decision to change my essential question to: Can the ambiance of plain and unattractive scenery, change with an added subject? It took me a while to come up with this question. It also took me a while to find friends that were available for a photoshoot; Unfortunately they all had filled schedules. Despite my given situation, I came up with an alternative plan.
Considering that I don’t like taking pictures of myself, I made it a challenge of mine to get out of my comfort zone and act as the subject for each of my shots. In each picture, as you can tell by the question, I tried to position myself in a background that did not have anything spectacular happening. In addition, I dressed more formally to counter the plain and unappealing background of each image. furthermore, I used props to hopefully take the distraction off of the background and onto the subject. Lastly, I used light leak overlays to make each image more playful and creative.
I believe that I could have found backgrounds that were more unappealing, but due to the time constraint I had, I chose to use my aunty’s house as a studio; her house is NOT unattractive, I just chose spots that had nothing really happening (sorry aunt Chi). Anyways, in regards to what I think of my project as a whole, I think I did a fairly good job.

For what do you make art? Once upon a time the answer was simple: you make art for the greater glorification of God. And so, in the west, images from the life of Christ dominated the visual—and the architectural—for centuries. A cathedral may be based on the Holy Trinity, as may the composition of a painting. Within that cathedral you may glimpse paintings through dim light, with those shadows accentuating the drama of the painted image. And then art was loosened from the tether of God’s glory; but not for Olivier Messiaen: a passionate Roman Catholic, yet one who nonetheless constructed his glorifications from a deeply personal musical idiom. And so as we view “Old Masters” through antique light in a modern architectural masterpiece, we hear an old story re-imagined in a series of miniatures, jazz fragments, stained shards.
The Ideal (Dis-) Placements Concert Series at the Pulitzer is held in collaboration with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. The pieces performed relate directly to the exhibition Ideal (Dis-) Placements: Old Masters at the Pulitzer and are performed by members of the Saint Louis Symphony. Each of the programs are chosen by Music Director David Robertson based on the way they relate to the exhibition concepts and the works of art on view.
