Thank you, everyone, for the comments and faves to my posting last week of Salthenge. There were many questions from that shot, so I wanted to take time and answer for everyone.

Today's view of Salthenge includes two folding chairs to give it scale.

Q: Who created it?

A; Still unknown. I am betting on aliens, and its a secret signal

Q: Where are the footprints?

A: Further proof of aliens......this section of salt is rock hard and not like beach sand. Many areas of the lake has loose / soft salt that is fragile, but this area is sunbaked hard, like concrete.

A bigger problem is tracking dirt/sand on the salt and leaving those dirt footprints (I was extra careful)

Q: Where did the rocks come from?

A: Aliens or an area of rocks about 66 meters / 216 feet away

Q: How large is this?

A: Did my photo today help give it scale? Maybe I should let you know those folding chairs are 12.7cm /5 inches tall :-) No drone involved, just the mini chairs and my Sony a7iii :-)

Q: How long will it last?

A: Humans create things, and just as fast, they destroy things. It becomes much harder to take apart if it lasts a few months as the salt will act like concrete holding them in place.

Q: How big are the rocks?

A: The largest one is maybe 6 inches / 15cm. The entire circle is about 2 meters / 6.5 feet

Q: Roy wants to know why comments are always off

A: Roy, they are only off for you :-) No one else has this problem.

The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.

Glückwunsch Brigitte, du wusstest es.

Ich dachte, dass es so offensichtlich sei, aber so kann man sich täuschen.

I thought that it was obvious what my detail photo showed yesterday but it wasn't. We all see different things and have different associations when we look at things. Thank you for all your comments

The question of the month is always : will there be leaves on the trees on May 1st or not. Three weeks ago we all thought that the answer was easy and there would be naked trees at the beginning of May. The warm end of April led to an explosion in nature and today we face a green paradise in our fields, gardens.

Some ancient call

That I've answered before

It lives in my walls

And it's under the floor

If this was meant for me, why does it hurt so much?

And if you're not made for me, why did we fall in love?

A knock at my door

I thought I was alone

Unaware of what I've thought I needed

I dropped like a stone

If I'm not mistaken, then I was the last to know

And if you return for me, I'd never want for more

You're dislocated

Don't be like that

And you smile when you dive in

Like you're never coming back

So hold my body

Yeah, hold my breath

See your face when I black out

I'm never coming back

What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?

Bet'cha on land they understand

Bet they don't reprimand their daughters

Bright young women, sick of swimmin'

Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know

Ask 'em my questions and get some answers

What's a fire and why does it, what's the word?

Burn?

When's it my turn?

Wouldn't I love, love to explore that shore up above?

Out of the sea

Wish I could be

Part of that world

Monsoon, a glorious word. It is not an overstatement to say the entire west is on fire this year. It rained today, hard, soaking, drenching rain.. worth dancing in rain.

Trebarwith Strand is just over two miles south-west of Tintagel and has a mile long sandy beach that is completely covered at high tide.

In the sea beyond low water mark is Gull Rock (or Otterham Rock).

The tide was in and I was the only photographer stood here , although there were two more perched higher up on the cliff to my right. Far enough away for me to cope with the crippling shyness I suffer from. A three stitch pano from the D850 and tripod mounted ...

The reason I took awhile to upload this shot is that I had problems with the images taken that I found difficult to deal with and if anyone knows the answer it would be appreciated..

Each shot suffered some curvature of the horizon. I was able to put the shots in Camera raw and profile the lens. I used the distortion correction tool but there was still a curve. I then tried both the pin cushion and barrel distortion tools but neither helped and I had to do my best with the transform tools till it looked better but tbh not really acceptable to me but I so enjoyed being here and taking some fast exposure shots this being 1/250 and some longer exposures which proved no easier.

I never found this place so empty so I was literally

‘in my element ‘

So I felt I captured what it was like and enjoyed myself but was disappointed with that curvature. I really would appreciate any tips about that. There was some lens flare unsurprisingly and a very bright prism coloured blob in the foreground that inexorably drew the eye but small enough to clone out so I did. Definitely not a sooc shot for the purists but I didn’t have a lot of choice unless I just binned them but the memories too precious for that..

Answer to the photo of my friend Paul Dunn ;)

I do not know what to answer you. I would like that you feel better very simply ,and not being a cause of suffering.

If you have ever play Cards Against Humanity, you know there is a question - "Why am I sticky?" Now we have an answer!

Answer -Make them into a fence!

There is an old, disused railway line that closed down years ago in Balderton, Newark. After the removal of thousands of old wooden railway sleepers and conversion of the old track bed into a path and cycle way, the problem still remained over what to do with them. Many were sold off cheaply but a few were used to create fences at various points along the old line.

Most people will not even give the material used for the fence a second glance and will have no idea where they came from!

Photos from the rolling red Toyota blind continue with a prairie dog doing its characteristic "jump-yip" - usually a warning call to other colony members, but sometimes (apparently) an "all clear" signal.

This little sentinel has the added advantage of having dug a burrow right beside a large rock: nobody's sneaking up on him! This shot is from last spring. I managed several jump-yip shots last week, but none were as good. It happens fast and is over in less than a second, the body launching up, with an accompanying high-pitched vocalization. Often it will be answered by neighbouring prairie dogs.

CSX's First Responders Unit #911 brings a massive M351-27 down the Sugar Creek sag and through the unique B&O signal setup at the north end of Lima yard.

This shot came from the same pier as the previous shot but a few hours earlier. The moment had me thinking of characters in movies who say to "Just sit and the answer will come to you." The question was of course what to photograph when the light was not right for what I wanted. So I sat and at my foot was this outgrowth of something, likely a weed. My mother-in-law used to say, "if it does not belong there it is likely a weed."

The blonde color of the item contrasted with the dark wood. And, it shone brightly as the low rays of the sun painted it on the dark canvas of wood. All I had to do was compose the image and my subject would stand out. So I reversed the leading lines and created a triangle that might lead the viewers eyes back to my little subject. The one that was sitting right beside me when I sat down to find an opportunity. I guess those really are all around us, we just need to take a moment to see them.
